My husband and son discovered this restaurant when they were in New Orleans without me but they couldn't stop saying how much they enjoyed it and more importantly it was one of the very few places that accommodate dietary restrictions such as vegan, dairy free, vegetarian and more. A couple months after their trip, my hubby and I were back in town and I was excited to visit here. Sometimes I get nervous if my husband over-hypes a place because I get let down but not this time. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed an amazing meal. I mentioned to our adorable waitress that I am dairy-free (tough in NOLA) and don't eat beef. Not only was she ready to recommend dishes but she knew all sorts of substitutions and then she came out with papers that address all kinds of food restrictions and allergies. THIS PLACE WAS READY ! The menu.... oh my goodness, the menu is unique and creative and delicious; like combining then local typical cuisines with asian. And if what you order isn't enough, they bring samples of other dishes for you to try ( I assume they make a dish for one table and have extra, perhaps). AND they didn't forget my food issues; when they brought out a taste of something, they had a substituted dish for me. They brought my hubby a sample of their version of a beignet and for me a beautiful pickled radish shaving with other veggies; VERY THOUGHTFUL ! I loved their SATSUMA GLAZED OCTOPUS with heirloom carrots, peach amba, crispy lentils and my husbands favorite dish was the SPAGHETTI WITH COCONUT CRAB Broth braised leeks, Louisiana blue crab. We loved all the other stuff we got too. MAYPOP is a MUST !

A large group of us tried every single dish on the a la carte menu of the restaurant, including dessert. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the food, especially as someone who would typically not enjoy Asian fusion restaurants. The groups overall favorites were the shrimp and grits, which were ranked as one of the best bites we had throughout a few days of eating in the city. The fried cereal milk custard was also a personal favorite! Service was prompt, especially as the restaurant was not busy at the time. What a delight to have discovered in New Orleans!

I recently visited Maypop for the second time and I was pleasantly reminded of how good the food is there! My friend and I went as soon as they opened at 4pm and were able to order from the happy hour menu. We were the only people in there for a while so we were served quickly and our waiter was very helpful with recommendations. We ordered a Tattersal Spritz, spicy margarita, 4 of the hot sausage steam buns, the roasted sweet potato, the chicken wings to start. When I say delicious, I mean it! The hot sausage steam bun was the most delicious thing I've had in a while, the sweet potato came in second place. We couldn't help but to order dessert- we did too much. We ordered the peach bourbon ice cream and the Ube cheesecake ice cream which was phenomenal!! Literally the best! We're so glad we chose to come here. Not only is it well lit and chic, the food is absolutely on point. Can't wait to come back and try more of the dinner menu items.

This is a modern fusion restaurant with a well-thought menu. My family and I were able to get a last minute reservation at this place. We got the nuoc man caramel glazed pork shoulder, lobster tom kha with scallion malfatti dumplings, spaghetti with coconut crab broth, louisiana black drum, milk tea creme brulee, and fried cereal milk custard! The nuoc man caramel glazed pork shoulder was so delicious and the favorite of everyone in the group. All the other dishes were pretty solid but the pork shoulder stood out significantly.

I had the most memorable meal here. I celebrated my remote work holiday party here and the chef and kitchen, went above and beyond to accommodate my many allergies. I enjoyed my Grand Tasting Menu. Everything was delicious. The service was amazing. My waiter Grayson was a delight. Great atmosphere and wonderful music selection. Get here and eat this yummy goodness.

Dinner here was a truly incredible experience. We dined on a very cold Tuesday evening. We did not have a reservation and were still able to be sat quickly at a wonderful table. The atmosphere was relatively dark but chic and sleek. There were a few large parties when we dined but it did not affect our service or experience at all. This menu is unbelievable. I honestly had the hardest time deciding on what to get but we landed on the Roasted Bone Marrow, Nước Mắm Caramel Glazed Pork Shoulder, and the Lobster Tom Kha with Scallion Malfatti Dumplings. We also opted for two cocktails, the Tom Khallins and the La Abeja, both delicious. While waiting for our appetizer we were given Curry Beignets as a complimentary gift from the kitchen. These were unreal! Crispy fried with a creamy curry center. The Roasted Bone Marrow came out next and what a beautiful dish. The bone marrow was savory with a bite of acidity from pickled onions, covered in flavorful light curry sauce and served with warm roti. Our two main entrees were wonderful. The pork shoulder was tender with crispy skin! The Tom Kha was so so good, huge pieces of tender lobster, incredible umami wild mushrooms, and perfect pillowy dumplings. It was truly an incredible experience and I cannot wait to go back during my next visit to New Orleans.

I've been severely disappointed with the food in New Orleans, and honestly this was the only/best place I went to on my 3-day trip! A lot of places were greasy/salty tourist traps, but this was refined dining that creatively fused Asian and southern food together. The fried drum (fish) was crispy and the butternut curry was warm and balanced. The coconut grits were a little too plain, but we also like their caramelized sweet potato on the HH menu. The service was great, and one of the managers even came out to provide a list of more food recs since we mentioned our disappointing experience thus far. Ambience was nice but a bit empty since we went pretty early at 4:30. Hopefully it's livelier at night, and if not, it deserves to be!

This was ALMOST a miss for me but turned into a hit. My companion and I made a reservation on OpenTable for 6PM. We wanted to dine here before going to the Pelicans game. We were promptly seated and then we sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. For fear of never being attended to and missing the game, we elected to leave. I stopped by the hostess stand to let her know our plans and the lovely hostess apologized emphatically and brought us water and put our server on notice that we were there. She also offered us an appetizer on the house for the inconvenience. Our server, Josh, was also very accommodating and took our order right away. We went with the octopus app and it was DELICIOUS. I was afraid it would be too sweet because of the satsuma flavoring but it was PERFECT. For my entree, I had the Lobster Tom Ka and it was SO good! The portion was small but paired with the appetizer, it was perfect. My date had the pork entree and I tasted it and it was also excellent. I would like to come back and try some of their fancy cocktails and different platters next time I'm in town! The ambience is very romantic and intimate. I was surprised by the number of children present because it seems like a more adult-friendly establishment but apparently it's good for families, too!

I've visited New Orleans at least 10 times over the past 5 years and I've only just discovered Maypop on this recent trip... how did I not see you on the radar? I was in town with my adult son and he wanted something unique and we came across Maypop on a walk to the grocery store... nice layout and decor (modern with industrial and asian flair). When we got back to the hotel, we took a look at Maypop online and were learned their flavor concept is a fusion of SOUTHERN---and---ASAIN; odd to process at first but looking over the menu and were were impressed enough to make a reservation for that night. We arrived on a Sunday night for our 8:30PM dinner reservation and we're pleasantly surprised to see Sunday night so busy... but our table was ready. We ordered their ANNATTO SESAME ROLLS; served with Cultured Butter and Shellfish Pepper Jam... yes, I said Shellfish Pepper Jam and before you begin thinking fishy jelly, let me just clarify then Jam was delicious. Right after delivered the Rolls, another server came by with a complimentary sample dish... I don't recall exactly what they described but for the most part it was a "SAVORY" VERSION OF A BEIGNET (rich and moist and not sweet by any means) and it was served over a Remoulade (it was seasoned and almost like a Crab Remoulade). As delicious as the Beignet was, it was the remoulade that shined. We even asked our waitress to place a full order of these Savory Beignets BUT they don't have them as a menu item (but I wish they did). My son ordered the LOUISIANA BLACK DRUM OVER BUTTERNUT SQUASH PURÉE... I didn't have to ask if he loved his dish; it was obvious. The fish had the skin over but it was done with crisp skin but the rest of the fish was soft. I had a hard time choosing since so many dishes were interesting but I ended up going with the server's suggestion, SPAGHETTI IN A COCONUT CRAB BROTH. Oh my, it was nothing like a broth... way too rich and thick (not watery). It also had Louisiana Blue Crab and Braised Leeks. Loved my dish. The serving sizes are not huge so we "THOUGHT" we'd be able to get dessert but the food is VERY RICH and as much as we wanted to see what amazing things they can do with dessert, we were just done. MAYPOP didn't take no for an answer so for the second time during this dinner, they presented up with "another taste". This time it was a very small taste... very small as in the size of my thumbnail; no kidding. Again, I didn't pay attention enough to know exactly what it was but I would say it was a CHOCOLATE TORTE with a hint of Caramel and a heavy dusting of Cocoa Powder and a touch of Rock Salt. MAYPOP DID NOT DISAPPOINT ! See you again soon !

New Orleans is steeped with a rich history, all present in the aspects of fine dining and modest establishment's. All food here is served with love and good home cooking. Ambiance: Chic and elegant, it's warm and inviting. Food: My boyfriend and I are wary of Asian fusion restaurants because they rarely make their mark. But Maypop is by far the best meal we've had in a very long time. Spectacular flavors, and the finest and freshest ingredients. Flavors that my boyfriend and I are familiar with but it's elevated to the next level. We cannot stop raving about this place. Service: Next level service here, friendly smiles and excellent knowledge of the menu. Attentive. We felt so comfortable.

I was torn between a 3 and 4 on this place. Come on yelp..let us give half stars! Anywhere, a group of us arrived during happy hour. We wanted to try a few small plates so we could sample more things. Service was top notch for sure. I loved the ambiance and decor. I thought the bread service and hot sausage bao were awesome! I tried bone marrow for the first time here...I think I enjoyed it..wasn't much there for the price. Lol. The Oyster appetizer was fried well but the accompanying items on the dish were a bit meh. The chicken wings were served with a completely different sauce bc they were out of what they should have been tossed with. Flavor wasn't great on these. Ended with creme Brule with a semi hard top. No one likes it semi-hard..am I right? Lol. I would visit again just for happy hour..fyi..the hot sausage baos are only served during happy hour.

Great restaurant to try. May need reservations to secure your seat. Popular restaurant among local people. I would said the cuisine is new American. Very classy restaurant. Price is a bit high. The restaurant start with complimentary boudin Ball. Very traditional appetizers. Our first dish is the crispy tapioca noodles with jumbo gulf shrimp. The base is turmeric curry. Dish is not bad. Our second dish is the Roasted Marrow Bone top with Creole Lobster Bordelaise. This dish come with warm roti bread go with bone marrow. The lobster meat mixed with bone marrow is a good combination. I recommend this dish. The restaurant is rated 4.5 stars. Good services, love the food, good chef skills.

Bread Service / Annatto Sesame Rolls with Cultured Butter and Shellfish Pepper Jam

When researching restaurants to try on my New Orleans trip, Maypop was mentioned in multiple food publications. Naturally, I had to add this it to my list. While I had high expectations for this restaurant, I didn't expect it to be hands down, the best meal of my entire trip. The menu brings together the unique, diverse culture the Gulf Coast and city with classic Southeast Asian favorites into a unique, creative celebration of flavors unlike any other. We ordered the following: - Bread Service / Annatto Sesame Rolls with Cultured Butter and Shellfish Pepper Jam (5/5) - If you have any doubts whether to pay extra for bread service, to that I say, get the freaking bread! So worth the order with its pillow soft, sweet almost pretzel-like bread, salty butter and tangy jam. After trying this, you will always yourself when having bread service in the future: where's the shellfish pepper jam? - Crawfish and Andouille Tom Yum over Gnochetti Pasta (5/5) - Another stellar, must-order dish! This dish delivers exactly what the entire fusion menu represents and what the restaurant is all about and was my favorite of the night. My husband and I appreciated how generous they were with the portion size. - Nuoc Mam Caramel Glazed Sticky Pork Shoulder (5/5) - Two words: Flavor Bomb. The sticky pork shoulder has so many dynamic flavors going on: sweet, savory, salty, umami and more. It comes accompanied by a refreshing and tangy chayote and green Papaya salad and roti bread and the idea is to make your own tacos with the pork shoulder. - Spice Crusted Gulf Fish in Saffron Coconut Crab Jus (4/5) - Delicious! The coconut crab jus reminded me of a delicious curry made for some amazing dipping with our roti from the pork shoulder dish. The fish was well cooked and perfectly seasoned. - Vietnamese Coffee Creme Brûlée (5/5) - I loved how Maypop took one of the most classic desserts and infused it with their Southeast Asian theme. The strong Vietnamese coffee flavor came through well in this dessert and worked beautifully with the burnt sugar crust. All of the desserts on their menu sounded amazing though and I wish I had room in my stomach to try more! Located in the Business District of New Orleans, the restaurant was a little ways away from the more touristy French Quarter. The inside space and ambiance is beautiful, spacious and modern and makes for a lovely little escape. Highly recommend making a stop here when you're in the city, you definitely won't regret it!

This is my favorite restaurant! The owner/executive chef, Chef Hao is a genius. We get the "Feed…read moreMe" option where 4-5 dishes are brought out that are chosen and prepared personally by Chef Hao. His dishes are to die for. Combinations you would never think would work together just fuse and melt in your mouth. He pairs things like raw salmon and strawberries with a sauce that mind blowing. All this combined in your mouth is like heaven on Earth! His Mama's Dumpling soup is so good especially on a cold or rainy night. I have tried almost his whole menu and can't complain about a thing. My only complaint is I wish they were open for lunch. If I worked there, my whole check would go to my bill and I'd still probably owe him money! The staff is really good. They are great for offering recommendations from food to cocktails to bourbons (that he collects). And if they aren't sure, they will ask Chef Hao for his advise. They fully explain everything that comes out and is put on the table, even the rice they explain is to sop up any extra sauce. Every day he is open, he is out picking the freshest fish, veggies, and fruits so dishes taste fresh and can be changed up if one thing isn't available but something else is. The place itself is small but very cozy. I would definitely recommend reservations through Open Table. We went one night during all the very cold weather. I was worried I'd be cold since it's in a remodeled NOLA shotgun house (and those building at known for being drafty), but Chef had the place insulated very well. My husband and I go there for our wedding anniversary, birthdays, or just to go when the craving hits. It's a great place to bring a date.

All hits, no misses. Another great meal at Luvi. It was popping on Friday night when we got there…read more Our server seemed a bit frazzled, but food service was still prompt. We opted for "Feed Me" and Chef always delivers really fresh seafood and creative flavors. I'm still not over the flounder that they made look like a flower- (see pic). Stunning presentation. We got a couple hot dishes too. I enjoyed the golden nugget- three good sized crispy fried shrimp balls served with delicious blueberry aioli. The hot splash noodles were tasty and sharable. Do get the trio of ice cream if you've got room- the ube cheesecake was my fave flavor. The sake pairing with feed me was also nice touch. Overall great value for quality and portions. Looking forward to our next visit.
