My wife and I have eaten here many times. The food is outstanding! I went off of a random recommendation and had the beef chow fen. Holy cow was it good! The Tso chicken is amazing with chicken breast chunks instead of processed meat cubes. The service is great and the food authentic. Its a fight between Tans and One other pla for best chinese food in Pullman award. All I know is that whoever wins, we win. We decided to walk over to this restaurant and try it out . Was small but clean. Some authentic Chinese decorations could have brightened up the place. We ordered deep fried prawns for appetizer. Yum. Our mains were cashew chicken and Mongolian beef which both came with egg fried rice. Absolutely delicious!! Probably the best Chinese food we've had in a long time. For Pullman, this Chinese restaurant is probably one of the better ones in the area (or so I heard). I got the xiao long bao and the gyoza. The soup dumpling juice could've been a bit richer, and it got cold really fast. The meat in the center was good though. The gyoza, as wel, was pretty good and it was nice to have the different sauces served with each of the portions. (Close approximations of the prices!) My daughter recommended this restaurant for its Xiao Long Bao but said that the other dishes are excellent as well. Since the only place in Honolulu that I knew served Xiao Long Bao closed, I wanted to eat it here. However the server said to come earlier next time because it sells out quickly. Overall not a very good experience. Coming from seattle this Chinese food was nothing near authentic. The potstickers, just labeled as "potstickers" without the contents, were loaded with ground beef...ew. Shanghai noodles weren't half bad, the firecracker chicken was good, and so were the pork buns. The shrimp wonton soup base had absolutely no flavor whatsoever but I did enjoy the wontons. This restaurant only has soda to drink, no tea or anything like that. I am extremely surprised that this place is rated so highly considering that it was not even close to being a 4 star. Tables were also sticky even after the waitress wiped them down. If you want good food in Pullman I suggest getting American style food, don't waste your time on ethnic food, it's not good around here. The food here was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I ordered food to-go tonight and we love everything that we ordered! The Mongolian beef was crispy and had a wonderful flavor, the general tsos chicken was nicely prepared, and all of our appetizers were to die for. My favorite hot and sour soup in town, hands down. The spice level is perfect and it's got a great tang. I love that there are pieces of meat and you get a lot of soup with one order. Okay I'm literally writing this review while I'm in the restaurant because I just couldn't wait. I gave this place 5 stars because this is hands down the MOST authentic Chinese food place in town. I'm from a predominantly Chinese suburb in LA and have parents who immigrated from Taiwan so trust me when I say I know what good Chinese food is. The server is so sweet and she hustles hard to make sure you don't wait too long. I highhhhly recommend the beef noodle soup, the xiao long bao (which is kind of a soup dumpling but smaller) and the firecracker chicken. Honestly, I really hope this place stays forever. My friend and I saw this restaurant pop up on Yelp not to long ago, so we decided to see how good the food was. I'm always skeptical about eating Asian cuisine in such a small town because I'm not sure how well the food is made and if the food will be authentic. Boy...I was surprised, Tan's definitely satisfied my cravings and it is probably as goo as it gets in Pullman, WA. On our first trip, we had wanted to get the Xiao Long Bao, but they had ran out and that they would have more hand-made Xiao Long Bao in a few days. So we ordered a few items and enjoyed our meal. And decided that it was so good that we would make the trip for the Bao Long Bao and more food tasting. So here are our thoughts on food, atmosphere, and service: Food: We ordered the following in our two trips combined: - Pork Potstickers: The potstickers are delicious. I enjoyed every potsticker. They are one of the best in the area. - BBQ Buns: The pork buns are just how they are suppose to taste. They are delicious and the meat is deliciously made. - House Chow Fen: I have been looking for a place that would make this dish. It is my favorite chinese dish. This is not overly oily as other dishes. In addition, I have to say that this definitely satisfied my cravings for this dish. - Spicy Fish Fillet - Deliciously spicy dish! If you like fish and spicy all in a soup, then I would recommend this dish. I very much enjoyed this. But it's a lot, so you can split this. You will also get rice with this dish. - Chinese Sausage Fried Rice: This was my least favorite dish. I'm glad they have the option for Chinese Sausage. The sweetness of the Chinese Sausage was dried out and the dish could have used a lit more soy sauce. I ended up taking it home and re-seasoning the dish for the the next day. - Jian Bao - These Baos were okay. Not my favorite. The bao did not have the most flavor, but it was okay. - Xiao Long Bao - These were great. Came out in a bamboo steam basket, so they were steaming hot and fresh. The soup was delicious and it was perfect. For Pullman, to have a place with Xiao Long Bao...it makes me so happy. - HK Style Chow Mein - Fairly well made. This dish had a nice crunch and it was not drenched in the sauce. It was a great sigh I would recommend if you want to try something really authentic. - General Tsao Chicken - I'm not usually a fan of this type of dish. This was not a favorite, however my friend enjoyed it. Atmosphere: It looks like an office was changed into a restaurant. You will see very few decorations. They just opened and I will say that I could do without the decor if I could have good food. I believe they will slowly begin decorating when they have the ability. Service: The place looks like it is run like a mom and pop diner. The owners are elderly folk and will attended to as soon as you need them and when you sit down. I have not be disappointed by their service. Very kind folks. This restaurant does not stand a chance against restaurants in Chinatown in large cities, but for Pullman...it is the best. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The food is okay. It's a nice place to stop by when you're on your way to catch a movie (especially since there are fairly limited food options in that part of town), but it isn't somewhere I would go out of my way for. My main complaint was concerning the cleanliness, which is something I care a great deal about when it comes to food. The silverware and plates had a greasy film on them. Sure, it may have been from the dishwasher, but when I used my napkin to try wiping my fork, it revealed that it had been covered in an oily yellow substance. It could have just been an off night; I'll likely visit again the next time I see a movie - but maybe I'll try something like the steamed buns that can be eaten without silverware. read more

I'm strictly gluten free and the people at Tan's were super accommodating and made me a stir fry without soy sauce that was amazing!
