I have came to popo a few times since moving to Pullman. Every time I think, "well it can't get any worse than this," and every time I'm wrong... Don't get me started how all the photos are old and that there mostly by the business owner or the same person on multiple occasions... The drinks are mostly milk (even though milk tea HAS MILK) there was no strong tea flavor or aroma. The food taste kinda stale or not fresh and don't get me started on how the soup broth has no flavor..... Service overall was fine, everyone who helped us greeted us nicely. It's really quiet through out the year... I normally don't leave reviews. But this place is terrible. Boba tea was OK, watery milk tea...The fried tofu is a joke...Not crispy but soggy tofu with lots of terrible salty pepper seasonings. Its probably the worst fried tofu I've ever had. Very small potion of popcorn chicken. I'm can only assume that Popo has 3.5 stars due to their food [which I haven't yet tried], because I thought that their bubble tea was delicious! It wasn't any better or worse than bubble tea that I've had from other restaurants. I appreciate that their menu had multiple options for flavors, add-ins, sweetness levels, and milk types. The only reason that they're losing a star from me is due to their restaurant space. The decor and seating arrangements didn't make me want to spend extra time in their location. Terrible bubble tea... I mean terrible. The coconut milk in my taro smoothie was horrible and my friends jasmine milk tea was horribly sweet. Just skip bubble tea while you're in Pullman. They also "ran out" of tapioca at 7pm on a Friday and all of the other toppings suck. They also have board games at the coffee table but they are so filthy like that have never been cleaned. "Hotpot" but without the hotpot and flames. There's no pot and no flame. It's just soup with a side of hard rice. Thick cuts of tough beef that you couldn't really chew or pull apart and OVERLY salty. Not worth $21 for salty hard beef lmao. One of my favorite places. They recently updated some of their furniture and it's more cozy and pretty inside than even just a year ago. I usually ask for their Classic Jasmine Milk Tea with boba or lychee jelly or a Taro Smoothie, but I've tried other drinks there and liked them too. I was surprised how much I love their fried calamari the first time I ordered it and now it's something I always order when I take a friend who's never been before. The food and drinks are average, considering it's the only boba around, but this place is absolutely filthy. The board games are covered in black grime, the tables are dirty, the bathrooms are disgusting with black on the floor and walls and a toilet that looks like it's never been scrubbed. This is very concerning for food safety because health officials say if they don't clean their bathroom, they are most likely not going to clean their kitchen. I didn't realize that flavor was such a luxury in Pullman. Ordered the Tasty Hot pot. What came out was a milky broth with boiled various meats and somehow tough cabbage. The beef had no flavor, the imitation seafood (which I have no issue with in general) had a slight hint of crab and no other flavor. Everything in that pot had no flavor. Even the corn had its flavor stripped away. $21 is a steep charge for something to throw out. Even adding the chili oil made no difference. The bbq buns were ok as well as the boba. Had a poor experience there:( Had to wait 15 minutes for the car in front of me to get one drink. Then, it took them 20 minutes to make my shake, which I had to ring for. Not only was my first drink made incorrectly, but my second shake was barely blended, making it have large pieces of ice. Stopped here on the way home to CDA Idaho because I saw they had boba tea. The boba was great!! I've tried boba all over California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho and this was GOOD boba! This bubble tea place just opened! They are currently having a special: buy one drink, get the second half off. They are located next to the WSECU that's across of Safeway. They have a variety of milk teas, slushies, desserts, appetizers, and entrees. I got the matcha milk tea with boba and red bean. It was actually pretty good/better than what I was expecting for Pullman (which tends to disappoint me in the ethnic foods area). The boba had a good texture and tasted fresh. They only have one drink size but it's a good size. My boyfriend ordered the strawberry slush and loved it. We shared an order of potstickers with potsticker sauce and chicken fried rice. We received a sample of the hot sauce to go with our fried rice and while we were waiting in line, we were also offered samples of the egg roll. Everything was pretty good! Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I particularly love that the sauces are homemade. I was expecting the hot sauce to be just sriracha but it tastes really unique (I think it has some plum sauce mixed in?). The fried rice on its own was okay but we added in the hot sauce and it tasted really good! We added in the leftover potsticker sauce we had too and it tasted even better! They charge you a little extra for the sauces but at least you know that they're unique and homemade and not just out of a bottle. The fried rice and potstickers can easily be shared between two people. Our food came in paper to-go boxes. I hope that one day they can have actual plates/silverware/cups for dine-in options to be more eco-friendly. I think it would make it a little more date-friendly that way too. It's still a cute place to hang out with friends or your significant other though! (Edit 07/26: they have dine-in baskets for food now) There was only one machine (blender?) working when we were there which caused a little bit of a wait/back up but the service was great besides that. The manager(?) was very personable and made sure everything was running as smoothly as possible. The AC was down and it happened to be a really hot day (95 degrees) but they said it should be fixed soon. Either way, it's still better than standing directly out in the hot sun and it kinda makes your cold drink taste better haha! We ordered an online order over an HOUR before they closed, and after over half an hour we went to pick it up and they didn't even see our order had printed so we had to wait in the lobby for almost 15 minutes for them to make our drinks and food that should've already been done by then. (All of this while they had no other orders or customers or anything) Which was totally fine, we didn't mind waiting but then after we drove 15 miles back home we opened our bag to find this note saying they ran out of boba (we had one with regular boba (the banana) and it had none, and instead they put herb jelly in which neither of us like at all. And one that was supposed to have DOUBLE BOBA that I payed additional money for only had literally like 10 pieces of boba in it. And then they threw 3 huge chunks of that gross herb jelly on top.) Which wouldn't have been a problem if they had at least asked us what we wanted instead of the boba instead just assuming whatever toppings they picked would be okay with us, or even just TOLD us about it instead of leaving a freaking note. This is a harsher review than usual seeing as how I'm Asian and have had boba from Hong Kong and Taiwan and I live in San Gabriel Valley so the tea expectations are high. This place is decent and passable for a boba fix. You can get regular black tea or green tea if you order "shaken" tea. Their drinks are exceedingly sweet. The green apple slush tasted like sugar water. The boba itself is chewy but lacks the typical honey flavor. Didn't get a chance to try the food, but it looks good. The place is good for studying. There's free wifi and it doesn't get too loud. The cashier helping us out wasn't very good and she got our order wrong after struggling to input it into the system. Best boba you can get around WSU though. read more

I usually love Popo! The drinks are sooo good! Now, I hate being the customer that shows up right before closing....that being said, even if I show up 5 minutes before closing I should still get served. I work in food service, and this happens to me all the time, so I get how annoying it is...but we still have to serve those customers. That's why we have a closing time! Drove a long way to get here, and then the way they told me they closed at 7 then proceeded to tell me, we're already closed when it was 6:55 was annoying. I'll preface this by saying that I know they're a new place, but in customer service, especially in the hospitality industry in a small town, first impressions are everything. I LOVE bubble tea so I was really excited to try this place. I walked in and stood at the counter for almost 5 minutes while the "employees" stood around and talked, a few even glanced my way but no one came to help. This was strike one. They had food and so I decided to try the potstickers with my drink, but they were out. That to me is poor planning on their part since it was like noon and they've just opened so they should be fully stocked. Strike two. Now, for the whole reason I came, bubble tea. I've been to quite a few and the process is pretty much the same at all of them so I figured this place was too. I ordered a strawberry milk tea one with boba balls. It was literally ice, milk, and the balls. So I said isn't this supposed to be blended, the guy apologized and said they'd make a new one. Get the new one and it's just a slush with the balls and again, I said it's supposed to be the milk tea blended and pretty much refused to make the product I paid for so I said whatever and walked out. Pros: + The decor was nice and they had a dart board game as well as other games like most shops. + It's in Pullman which makes it the only place for boba if you're in the Moscow-Pullman area. I ordered a rose milk tea, and all I tasted was milk. boba didn't taste fresh when i had it. -Popcorn chicken was the softest popcorn chicken i've ever had. although the spice was fine, the texture at which they served me the chicken made it the worst i've ever had. -Being from California, I wouldn't have paid as much as I did for what I had here knowing what I know now. i've experienced better at the bottom of the barrel places out there. I ordered the honeydew slush with boba and was slightly disappointed because it was bright green! This means their drinks are probably prepared using flavored powder instead of fresh fruit. It just didn't taste the way I thought it would. I'm probably being a bit biased because boba drinks from California are prepared differently though. Nonetheless, it was still pretty good and the prices were reasonable too. The Mango Pancake is much smaller than the one advertised, but it was yummy.
