I was pretty disappointed in the coffee... I had ordered something from their seasonal board posted which was a coconut cloud cold brew. I love coconut so I was excited. My friends told me to get half sweet because there's was too sweet. I did but when I got it... it tasted so overwhelmingly sweet. To the point I can barely drink. Especially if it's half sweet too. My friends could not drink their drink due to how sweet there's was too. Also it was almost $8 for a medium which is really hefty in my opinion. I enjoyed the inside and the seats but I just don't think I can get coffee from here if it's flavored like this. read more

Really cute & cozy coffee shop. Service was good but keep in mind it gets very busy on a Saturday afternoon. The Pesto Breakfast Sandwich was very good, super unique and delicious on the herb and cheese biscuit. Sadly, forgot to take a photo. However, felt that it lacked in the bakery section. Unfortunately the cinnamon bun was kind of stale and not heated up enough at all. I would also not recommend the hot chai, overall flavor was not good. Coffee was good which I am grateful for as the service was not, at least from who I got my order from this morning. I have never been here so I looked up the menu online and saw they had bagels. When I looked in their case I did not see any so I asked if they had any. The blonde lady with black glasses who took my order answered me as if she was annoyed, then proceeded to judge me with the rest of my order giving me a look and being very short. I then felt like I was being a bother asking for anything. I asked if they were out of any of them just to be sure as I know places can run out, ordered my stuff and waited. That already felt unpleasant, but then I overheard her talking about me asking if they had bagels to her coworker. It was incredibly disrespectful and ruined the hopes I had about being excited to try a new spot. I hope the professionalism can be improved here. The cook was great and kind though! read more

I want to preface this bad review with acknowledging that The Roost was busy when I visited, and it's a college town and the food is good. I'm not trying to discourage customers, but hoping the staff can use some constructive feedback to make a good place even better. I ordered some pastries, coffees, a huevos rancheros with bacon and a breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel. I'm certain I said all those words, I was reading them from a phone text for the people I was ordering for. I got a breakfast sandwich on a smashed biscuit, and no bacon on the huevos. I also realized I had forgotten to order a cinnamon roll. Went back to counter to order the cinnamon roll and ask for the bacon and the staff ringing up the cinnamon roll seemed unresponsive to the bacon problem, and another staff working the espresso machine curtly said I need to pay for bacon. I said I was sure I had ordered it but if I had to buy a side I would do that. So they charged me for a side of bacon instead of believing me. I knew I had forgotten the cinnamon roll and was up there to pay for one, so I clearly wasn't trying to get free stuff. I didn't even bother about the breakfast sandwich because it was for me. Then I had to walk a few blocks back to my car with all these orders and asked for a bag, and had to pay .08 for it because "sorry, it's state law." I know, but after messing up my order maybe you could eat the 8 cents and give me a bag? I had no cash and had to put the .08 on a card that somehow charged me $1.08, likely credit card service fee, so it was even more ridiculous. My kid is here in Pullman for another year and we've been to The Roost a handful of times but I most likely won't be back. read more

Cute little shop with lots of space for gathering! They have heated outdoor seating as well as seating inside far away from the counter, which I suppose is why we were allowed to bring our dogs inside! Breakfast and lunch menu is standard cafe fare- baked goods, avocado toast, eggs, sandwiches, etc. We weren't interested as we had dietary restrictions, but we did grab drinks. They do have non-dairy milk, non-caffeinated drinks, and the standard selection of teas and coffee drinks. Unfortunately, all the cups are disposable even if you stay at the cafe to drink, so bring your own reusable mug! read more

I'm staying next door at the Hotel McCoy and I must say, I'm in love with Roost! I have been in Pullman for almost two weeks and have spent a good amount of time at Roost for a place to open my laptop and enjoy a beverage and/or meal. The wifi is great for working and there is a variety of seating available, plenty with outlets. I love the breve almond latte and loooooooove the butterfly pea flower tea - I have had it hot and iced and it's so beautiful, with a slightly floral yet nutty flavor. I'm obsessed with it. Plus - it doesn't turn your mouth or teeth blue. The avocado toast is a perfect light meal or snack - they nailed the bread:avocado ratio. And just today I had the veggie breakfast burrito - stuffed with eggs, black beans, peppers, onions and mushrooms - so hearty and the mild green salsa was great, I just wanted more. I stuffed my face with it three hours ago and I'm still so full. A warning - this was my first time going on a Saturday and it was crazy busy. I went twice - once in the morning for a latte, and then a few hours later for lunch. I was able to get a table both times. The crowd seemed to move fast and it seems most people got a table before their food came out. It will be great when the patio opens. The staff is always nice and even when there is a long line, the workers move fast and I never sense any frustration. When I went in the morning, the bakery case was chock full and then when I went for lunch, it was sparse. This place has got it going on! I leave in a few days, but when I come back in a few months, Roost will continue to be my go-to spot. read more

I had a hard time deciding between giving Roost 3 or 4 stars. The food, coffee, and menu options are wonderful, but the prices and portion sizes leave you questioning if it's worth it. This is obviously a popular cafe, as I've had multiple people bring me here and it's always packed. Like I said, the food and drinks are good. I got their Avocado toast and tried my brother's huevos rancheros today, and both were very tasty (especially the huevos rancheros). I've also had their tacos before and their sandwiches. The only downside is that the portions are fairly small for the price (this includes drinks). There are other cafes in Pullman where you can get good food and coffee drinks for less, and I'm more likely to recommend those. read more

In our industrialized fast overpriced dirty water world (disguised by the name coffee), it's such a pleasure to find a small coffee shop who still cares and knows how to make great coffee, deelish food and home baked pastries. Pullman doesn't exactly have much to do or many restaurants to go to. There are, however, a few diamonds in the rough if you know where to look. Roost Coffee is one of those places. It is a wonderful little coffee and pastry shop off E Main St & SE Spring St. I ordered up some of my favorite types of pastries and sampled them. I had a croissant, cinnamon brioche, blueberry lemon scone, and a plum cream cheese bread. My two favorites were the croissant and the plum cream cheese bread. All the pastries were so good and well made that my favorites are simply a matter of taste preference and not a matter of quality. Each were impeccably made, tasty, and perfectly sweet as they should be. The croissant was buttery, the cinnamon brioche was cinnamon-y, the plum cream cheese bread was moist and the right level of sweetness, and the blueberry lemon scone was sweetness personified. If you're in Pullman looking for pastries, this is your spot. They have a rotating and large selection of pastries. (These were just four of what were available today.) They also have outdoor seating! Accessibility: The parking lot is gravel and on a slant. There is a ramp to get up onto the sidewalk where the coffee shop is. The coffee shop is small. It looked like there is more seating in the back but I did not investigate. There are only a couple tables inside and out and then some bar stool seating around the windows. I want to really like coming here. But there are two aspects of Roost that are really a turn-off and have me looking elsewhere: 1) The flies that hover in the dining/cafe area - annoying and unsanitary. 2) The smoke that flows from the kitchen through the dining/cafe area - the rest of the day you smell like bacon or fried food. The flies could be taken care of easily; and investment in a ventilation system or means of containing the kitchen smoke would go a long way. Fix these things and I'd give it five stars. read more

I absolutely love stopping into Roost whenever I find myself in Pullman. They've been my go-to coffee shop there since they opened (which unfortunately was shortly after I graduated) but I always find my way in for a lavender oat milk latte and a cookie or other pastry. The space is so calming, especially if you find yourself there on a quiet day (pre-COVID) and can sit at that lovely rough-hewn bar around the edge of the room. I stopped in during COVID a couple of months ago and staff were all masked, and I got my drink quickly. I felt very comfortable and I can't wait to return someday when I can leisurely sip my drink after taking a few well-lit photos of the latte art. read more

This is a popular coffee joint for good reasons. We arrived about 11.30am for a light snack before a long (4.5 hours) drive back. All the tables in the main area was occupied. There were seats at the back along a corridor, as well as outdoor seating. We opted for latter as the weather was just right. We ordered a large Americano. The server double checked that I was aware this had 4 shots of coffee! Since I was sharing with my wife, I wouldn't be climbing up any walls! We take it black, so, the caffeine was purely on its own. So, how good was it? Five stars good as I didn't feel drowsy at all. This was very unusual for long drives! We shared a ham and cheese sandwich. The ham slices were thick and substantial.
