Decided to go here for dessert after lunch. We were the only ones in the store. Previously they weighed it per ounce (before Covid?) Now they do a base price: small is $8, medium is $10 and large $12. This seems like a lot for a small cup of icecream. We got the medium size and I got a vanilla and crème brûlée flavor. I am pretty disappointed in the flavors. They were more icy than creamy. The vanilla didn't have any flavor too. Didn't think to sample it since it was a simple vanilla. I wish the flavors were more creamy and had more flavor. And I think the price is excessive. The fro yo here is great! However, my friends and I have been here two times and they have closed 30 minutes early each time (same worker each time). The posted hours on the door and online says they close at 9pm, but when we walked in at 8:30 the worker told us that we had 5 minutes to get our fro yo because they were closing. Each time the refrigerated toppings section was also "closed". This was frustrating because we pay a lot for the fro yo, and for half the toppings to be closed down and for the service to be not great, and for them to lie about the hours was disappointing. read more

To FroYo or not to FroYo that is the question I was asked today by my fiancé. We left in the morning to get Froyo at Sweet Mutiny when they opened at 12pm. We arrived to find a sign on the door that claimed that they actually opened at 4pm. Sad and FroYoless we left. We came back later in the evening, and arrived around 9:30pm only to find them closed, with no one in sight, and no signs of life. Update: It's still not good. Tried the Pink Lemonade cupcake and it also wasn't good. Cupcake was dry and the frosting tasted like butter cream with a bad lemon after taste. I tried the Cake Batter and Mango Sunrise and was not satisfied from beginning to end. I've had their froyo a couple times when they first opened and remember it being pretty good for a place in Pullman. I moved back to Pullman about 2 years ago and haven't had a chance to drop in. This time around the Cake Batter froyo tasted like cool whip and had weird buttery after taste. And the mango sunrise was okay but it was more sour than sweet. Also the consistency of the froyo was a little off. And last but not least they didn't have almonds for toppings and the fruit didn't look very appetizing. I love froyo and I'm so glad that a place opened up in Pullman, although now I need to fight my froyo cravings and limit them somewhat so that I don't go broke! One of the things I really like about Sweet Mutiny is that they involved with the school. For the first WSU game of the season they had a deal for Cougs representing the school and they're also doing a deal day for the 30 Days of Pullman. (September 16, buy one get one free! Not going to miss that!) They also show the games on their TVs. The froyo selection hasn't changed too much since school started in August but it's been less than a month, I'm hoping they'll shuffle a couple new flavors in to try out. They have a pretty good selection of froyo with a couple sorbet options. They actually had one of my favorite flavors EVER at the end of last school year (end of April/May), pomegranate-raspberry, which I hope will make an appearance again. They have a good selection of dry toppings and fresh fruit. They also have a can of whip cream to utilize and a fresh baked goods to use as toppings. Their fruit selection can sometimes look super syrupy and a little mashed which is a little deterring but they have a pretty good selection. Then there's the cupcakes. The reviews are all over the place for Sweet Mutiny. I wish I had paid more attention to the 1-2 star reviews, because my experience wasn't great. This review is only about the cupcakes, so let me state that up front. I really wanted something sweet this evening, so I checked out Yelp for someplace to go in Pullman. There isn't a lot listed, but cupcakes sounded good, so I chose Sweet Mutiny. I got three cupcakes (they are on the smaller side, don't judge....): red velvet, birthday cake and chocolate caramel ganache. So I ended up taking a bite out of each one, and I threw the rest away. All three of the cupcakes were really dry and tasteless, and the frosting on each one just wasn't good (too bland and not really sweet). I was really disappointed in the taste of each one, but I have to say that the red velvet was my least favorite, which is a shame, because I love red velvet. The girl that helped me was very sweet, but for $3.00 for each cupcake, it was totally not worth it. The 2 stars say it all: Meh. I've experienced better. read more

The benefit (or curse) of living in the Seattle area (in which gourmet cupcake locations are prolific) is that one can be very jaded at new attempts to enter the gourmet treat market. I had heard good things about a new location in Pullman that also caters to frozen yogurt. As I was "in town" (Spokane) for the weekend, I grabbed my mother and took her down the road for a treat. Worst case, we got a nice drive out of the day. My mother treated herself to a cup of vanilla custard with fresh toppings, and I grabbed a sampling of four cupcakes. The gals that helped us were friendly, courteous, and very engaging. We sat down to enjoy our treats. My mom - never one to mince words and to say what she thinks - declared, "this is the best vanilla I've ever tasted." For me? One cupcake lost its life in that store today. It was a noble death. It died making me appreciate how people are willing to push quality forward and give patrons variety and quality. Another one sacrificed itself after dinner. The sentiment? If anything reaffirmed. Tomorrow? The last two shall pass away making me happy. I plan for the final one to disappear as I cross over Snoqualmie Pass. Again, there isn't a lot of food places in Pullman and the one most convenient and quick dessert joints I found was this Sweet Mutiny. This is located right across the street from the hotel my family and I stay at when we drive to WSU, next to the movie theater, Wal Mart (because there is no malls except Moscow, ID or Spokane Mall) etc. I truly thought the Watermelon Limeade Froyo was tasty because it just reminds you of something summer-y tasting. I love anything Pistachio but was not too fond of the Pistachio flavor-- personally I felt as if it was too sweet and the sugar was all you tasted rather than the Pistachio. What a delightful place for some sweet treats!! First of all, it's called Sweet Mutiny & its logo is a pirate cupcake, of course this needed to be checked out. The shop itself is light & airy feeling with pop art of cupcakes on the wall with quotes like "A balanced diet is a cupcake in each hand." I couldn't agree more. They have a garage door type of door on the side so that on nice & warm days, it can be opened. I was an idiot, however, and didn't go early to check out their fresh cupcake flavors. Going early to a bakery is definitely necessary when you want more than 3 flavor options. At 9 at night, they still had carrot, vanilla, and chocolate pumpkin flavors as well as chocolate cake pops & coffee cake pops. In addition to cupcakes, they have selve-serve frozen yogurt. YUM! Their flavors were fresh & very delicious. I was worried that it was going to be too sweet or a consistency that was not delightful, but, indeed, it was wonderful. Although their Mango Tango flavor is a bit too sweet and more candy-tasting than I would've liked, their Cake Batter fro-yo was amazing. Sweet Mutiny offered many toppings for their fro-yo. From fresh pineapples, strawberries, and blueberries to mochi balls, crushed heath bars, and caramel syrup, they've got LOTS. This is place is so cute! I really like the decor and the sofas, it seems like a good place to just chill out and talk with friends. My friends and I came by this place after walking around Walmart for a while, and the frozen yogurt really hit the spot. I had some coupons that were pretty awesome because I could get a free cupcake and froyo. :) I thought the froyo flavors were pretty limited compared to back home but Pullman isn't that big of a town, so I understand the results. I really liked their choices of topics because it was pretty vast. I thought the cupcakes were okay, I had the Cheesecake filled one but I felt it could have been better. The cupcakes to me were dry and tasted like it was made a few days before. I think if they could improve on the cupcakes, this place would be hit. We'd been eye-balling this place for a while, waiting for the 'we'll be open soon' sign to disappear. We went to visit at about 7:45pm, and the place was packed. I actually had a borderline panic attic with everybody squeezed in around me, grabbing for yogurt cups to fill. We picked 6 cupcakes so we could try a few flavors. They all looked really interesting. The Strawberry cake cupcake was good, it had a graham cracker crust on the very bottom of the cake. The key lime was good, I really liked the yummy lemon curd in the middle. I usually love red velvet cake, so I was excited for the 'Crimson and Gray' cupcake, it ended up being pretty good. It was $30 for a dozen cupcakes, we paid $20 for 6. The yogurt was typical froyo, flavors like cheesecake & pomegranate, you can add topping like fresh granola & strawberries. The girls behind the counter were very friendly too. Overall, pretty good place. I don't think we'll go back till the crowds die down, so we can actually sit down. We love going to Sweet Mutiny for a froyo/cupcake fix. It's conveniently located, has great atmosphere, especially with the fireplace and couches, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Admittedly, while they're delicious, they're not the most amazing cupcakes ever. But while their froyo topping selection can't compare to Jamm's in Moscow, they do have some unique toppings (like cheesecake bits and boba balls) that set them apart. Also, simply having a choice between cupcakes and froyo makes it a greater hangout for friends with varying tastes. We especially like their discount fridge of yesterday's cupcakes, and their discount club for frequent customers. Highly recommend. read more

My first visit there was during the Memorial Day weekend during the evening (about 6 p.m.). The staff were friendly and made a point to greet us on the way in and thank us on the way out. The place is airy and light but the actual food service and register section is cramped and does not flow well. The cupcakes are tucked between the registers and the frozen yogurt toppings so you have to cut into the queue if you're only getting cupcakes. If there is a queue for the registers, the customers block the cupcake display so you cannot see what is available. It appears that only a certain amount of cupcakes are made each day. When we went, there were only three kinds available (and only one red velvet cupcake). However, there were many cake pops available and one special custom creation. They only have 8 flavors of frozen yogurt, and none of them are dairy-free. I was not too excited about the flavors offered (see their web site for details) but I tried a blend of the vanilla and chocolate which tasted comparable to most frozen self-serve yogurt places. For local comparison, the toppings aren't as expanded as at Jamms but they were decent. The fresh cut strawberries were great and the mini gummy bears were adorable. Parking and seating were not a problem and the many windows made for a nice experience. The party room looks like it would be good for a children's birthday. Their web site has details about the offerings and packages. For any guest staying at the Holiday Inn, it is worth walking across the street for a treat. It's in a good location if you're one to get sweets before or after a movie, too. Overall, the cost appeared less than what I would pay at Jamms and the decor and sound level was much better. Since it is in Pullman, I will go there again before going to Jamms in Moscow, especially since I haven't tried their cupcakes yet! read more

We love Sweet Mutiny! The pirate accents are cute, family friendly, and not over done. I love the wide variety of fro-yo flavors and toppings. Something for every mood. A big plus is that you can sample unfamiliar flavors before committing. We've tried fudge brownie, vanilla custard, original tart, and key-lime sorbet. All were quite tasty! Every time we have come in the service was friendly and the shop was very clean. :) Additionally, they have great deals throughout the week and a fro-yo 'happy hour'. Well I get it's a froyo shop, and this is a college town so anyone and everyone will go. Cool! But when you come in it's so empty! And they only have about 6-8 flavors and the topping bar was a mess! Toppings were everywhere and they really didn't have a lot of different kinds. Also if you are allergic to peanuts DON'T GO TO THE TOPPING BAR! The peanuts where everything and mixed in with other things so don't go! About the cupcakes....why are we mixing that with yogurt? I want to preface my review and say that we used to love Sweet Mutiny, but since the move- the changes made have left us disappointed. The froyo flavors are still great although when I went recently, the flavor I wanted wasn't really coming out. I asked the gal who was working there if it was gone or just not working.... her response was something like "eh it's just been doing that". So, fix it? Or help me? Or put a sign on it? Then we went over to the very limited and much smaller topping selection. My favorites weren't there- Oreos, Captain Crunch, or fresh fruit. Zero fresh fruit. Now, I understand that the fresh fruit probably expensive for your margins.... but instead of getting rid of it all together, you could sell it in cups for an extra 25 cents or so? That's my favorite part about froyo. They were also missing my husbands favorites- cookie dough and brownie bites. Last, we were disappointed that it's a flat fee now. I never fill my cup all the way, it's way too much for me. My husband gets much more than me but his cup when weighed never cost more than $5! I'm sure families refrain from going now that they have a flat fee of over $5 per person. Needless to say, we will probably go out for dessert elsewhere from now on. read more

I've tried most varieties of cupcakes available at Sweet Mutiny. Several are quite delicious. The standouts are Lemon Scurvy and Strawberry Cheesecake. I do wish they had more variety as on most evenings that I've visited them they only have 3-6 varieties, with 2 of those being gluten free. The problem is that the majority of their cupcakes just aren't that good. The red velvet is tasteless and dry, although it has a smooth texture. The s'mores cupcake sounds delicious, but it is dry as a bone and relatively tasteless. The gluten-free cupcakes have a poor texture and the chocolate, particularly, lacks a good chocolate flavor. Their frosting recipe is -heavy- on the butter and light on the flavor. If they are not filled, the cupcakes are often dry, with a heavier cake that has a crispy muffin top. Then there's the price. Six cupcakes will run you over $16 with tax. You can buy six delicious organic cupcakes (including gluten free) at the Moscow Co-Op for half of that. All in all, I still stop by sometimes to see if they have the few good cupcakes, but I hope that a better bakery opens in Pullman soon. read more
