Huckleberry ice cream hand packed pint! This is a winner if you like berries in general, not overly sweet with just a hint of tartness.

Service 4.6 Ice cream 4.6 Helping my daughter move into her new apartment for Senior year, so don't know how many times I'll get the chance to have Ferdinand's. So ice cream was a must! Ice cream is consistently very good and especially my favorite the Huckleberry. Service is fast and friendly! Hopefully I won't have to wait until graduation to have more ice cream & cheese (which I didn't get on this trip)

A fun novelty ice cream shop where they make the ice cream on location and they offer a good selection of the famous Cougar Gold cheese. I was disappointed there weren't any dairy free ice cream options, but I get it. It's a creamery! I did have a bite though and the ice cream was tasty. Was fun to purchase the famous cheese to bring home as souvenirs.

Great little ice cream shop on campus at Washington State University. Heard about this through the grape vine and had to give a try. The ice cream operation, and it's production is done at the University. There's an observation area in the second floor where you can see the cheese manufacturing process. They sell both ice cream and cheese. It's a small shop with a half dozen tables and window seating. The service was good, quick and friendly. The ice cream was delicious! Rich and flavorful! We even bought a tin of cheese to take home. Would definitely recommend!

Oh so good. Probably the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had. Creamy a perfect vanilla flavor. Price was pretty good too, 3.45 for a big scoop waffle cone

Ferdinand's is the quintessential small town creamery, however its following is anything BUT small town! Their cheese is nationally known and their OG Cougar Gold has a cult-like following! (It's THAT good!). The store itself looks small and has not the best parking, but it does have a tasty variety of flavors on the menu and an observation room to the cheese making process. Feel free to run up to take a look or plan a field trip for something a little more formal! Friendly knowledgeable staff (love living in a college town!), please order from the store itself for cheese or else you'll be paying way more in the surrounding stores!

One of my favorite ice cream shops of all time. Ferdinand's has awesome service and the price for the quality is insane. Cool interior, very old school vibes. But back to the ice cream, it is so creamy and the serving is perfect. Mint chip was spectacular and coupling it up with caramel cashew -- it was a hit.

I went again over the weekend for graduation and it did not disappoint. This time, we got the Tin Lizzy and the blackberry. Both were delicious. The Tin Lizzy had a lot of caramel and was quite sweet due to that. The blackberry was so smooth and creamy. I don't remember it being a bright, fruity flavor (as some fruit ice creams may be), as the ice cream base really shone through instead and the blackberry complemented it. A really solid ice cream shoppe. We got cones this time and it was $2.88 each. The cones are not freshly made there. Same as last time, the servings were huge and one scoop could feed 2 people easy. Not pictured is some Viking cheese and hot pepper cheese I got. The snack packs were $9 with 7 servings according to the back of them and the big cans were $30. They had a variety of different cheeses. It almost makes me wish I lived closer or visited the area more often so I could try all the cheese and ice cream flavors.

We always look forward to going to Ferdinand's on our visits to Pullman, WA. The staff is friendly and the ice cream is of superb quality - thick, creamy, and, in my humble opinion, better than what you would get at a high-end ice cream shop that charges 3x the price for a smaller portion. This brings up another point - the portion sizes are incredibly generous. I ordered a "single" scoop, which is the size of a softball. Ferdinand's offers an abundance of flavors - classics such as cookie dough and strawberry are scooped alongside more unique flavors like huckleberry twist and apple crisp. Regardless of the weather, I highly recommend making the trip to campus for some amazing ice cream!

Awesome Ice cream, connected to the schools creamery. I dont have much more to say than that. It was delicious, priced well, and worth a visit if you are near campus. Parking is sparse but there is a ton of parking around the campus. Go get some delicious ice cream you will not be mad.

Over the years, I've trudged up and down the Touchet sneakily scouring for tricky trout. During my…read moreadventures, I've noticed a unique house along the stream's shores. This house had a goat-shaped sign with "Monteillet" on it. For years, I wondered what it was. I eventually found out it was a fromagerie, or goat cheese "factory". I always thought it cool and out of place to find something like this amongst the palouse and wheat fields, but I am a goat cheese-making illiterate. I wanted to get educated. I emailed the Monteillet and made contact. I had friends visiting, and I thought it would be a treat to visit the fromagerie. So, we scheduled a tasting. I corresponded with Jessica, and this ended up being the person who gave us a tasting (I did talk to one of the owners, Joan, on the phone, and she was super nice, and also pointed us to the actual fromagerie when we pulled into the driveway). Jessica is someone who's interned with Monteillet & has also learned about cheese-making in France. Her welcoming demeanor and text book knowledge of cheesemaking was felt within seconds. Monteillet doesn't officially open its doors for tastings for a couple more weeks (tastings are $10/person & a little more with a wine pairing). Right about NOW is when the fromagerie is hopping. The painfully cute baby goats are starting to get weened & the mommy goats are peaking with their milk. You could tell the farm was hoppin'. So, we made our way in to the tasting room. One must be forewarned of the aroma. Cheese is definitely in the house and the nose knows. But HEY, it's cheese, so it's worth the aromatic suffering! The tasting room is a little small, but it was perfect for our party of four. We saddled up to the bar and Jessica already had an array of their cheeses ready. Two of us opted for just the cheese tasting while a third chose to have a wine pairing as well (the fourth tried finding a clothes pin for his nose). Jessica walked us through something like 5-7 different cheeses, and we also tried a Mexican chocolate on some of them as well (YUM!). Jessica was the best of hosts. We were all a bit taken aback by how young she was because her breadth of cheese knowledge was astounding and she was the best host. She talked about how things are really coming together for Monteillet. They've been featured in some national magazines, are staged to tour Farmer's Markets (I saw the owner Joan at the one in Pasco last weekend), and were also in an NPR piece (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=125425910). At the moment, they are also putting the finishing touches on an exquisite outdoor dining area (for tastings, events, visiting chef presentations, etc.). Overall, we had the best experience here. Wouldn't anyone like to get a personalized tour of a farm?! The goats and sheep were also cool to see (the baby goats clearly stole the show [they were painfully too cute!]....as well as the big lumbering and sweet doggies walking the grounds). We all ended up buying quite a load of cheese. I bought a full round of a soft cheese, and also a quarter wedge of the hard cheese (my fave). The names of the cheeses escape me, but there wasn't a non-excellent one in the bunch--it was just hard to pick one to buy. WARNING: the smell can be potent. You should have a tupperware container at the ready when you get home, otherwise your kitchen/house will explode with cheesiness! But if you're like me, you won't mind. In fact, you might be trying to figure out a way to bottle the smell for cologne (the ladies, must like this smell, right?). The cheese has been excellent, and I can't wait to make another trip to the fromagerie!

Super tasty cheese!…read more Came Saturday for the cheese tasting and I was blown away by the taste of every one of the eight cheeses we sampled. Right now, the cheese is 95% goat, 5% sheep's milk, using the milk collected from free-range animals raised on-site. Can't get more local than that. For $10, we tried their: cardebelle, larzak, le roinoir, provencal, feta, causse neir, causse blank and wasabi-ginger chevre. Everything was really tasty and after much debate, we left with the feta and the provenchal in hand. Who could resist the provencal, some of its ingredients include truffle oil, garlic, rosemary, olive oil, savory, peppercorn...drooling yet? I don't blame you, it's good. They are open to the public for tastings Friday and Saturday noon-5pm. You are welcome to wander around the farm, see the goats and sheep (the baby goats are super cute) and the garden. Wine pairings are available for an extra $5. k, that's all I got for you, go try the cheese, it's fabulous!

They carry all the standard beef, chicken and pork, but also do some more specialty meats like rabbit and specialty sausages. We also loved the fact that they carry some good cheeses, including a really nice aged Gouda! My best half loves her some aged Gouda, so anytime we find something good we make note of it.
