This will be a strange review as I have never personally been to Roost (nor to Pullman, for that matter) but stick with me. I wanted to send brownies to my nephew, who at the time of this writing is about to turn 19. Once I realized how dumb it would be to bake and Fedex brownies from Orlando to Washington state I decided to try and find a local spot to deliver. Molly from Goose House Bakery in Moscow, ID referred me to Roost and when I called, I spoke to a lovely young lady named Mackenzie who said she'll make/personally deliver brownies on Saturday. All that for better price than what I was looking at for national delivery chains. All I can say is you should probably try this place and hope you get Mackenzie to help you. read more

Out of all the coffee shops in Pullman, WA this is must go to! The actual shop is very small and can feel crowded easily, but don't be deterred! The drinks are worth the crowd and the baristas are knowledgeable and friendly. Their almond milk is homemade and delicious. But it's the food that swept me away. Their quiches are the perfect texture. They are the best quiches I've yet to have. As for the decor, it's full of plants and calligraphy chalkboards. Go here! read more

On a recent travel through the Palouse, I uncovered a small gem among the shifting stalks of wheat. Roost is a small, boutique cafe, which I fell in love with during my tenure in Pullman. Though a tad bit on the pricier side, I found it to be well worth it. The atmosphere is very comforting, and the outside seating is immaculate. Excited to go here cause of reviews but unfortunately I cannot agree with them. Went here over moms weekend with sister and mom, and family friend. Coffee 1 - Cold, yet tasted burnt. Coffee 2 - Fine, kinda cold. Eggs with veggies (in bowl) - good, scalding hot. Eggs with ham (in bowl)x 2 - cold in middle, and not seasoned at all. Bfast sandwich - good, liked the cougar gold Got a pastry - tasted stale, but other than that was fine This place was packed and LOUD. Loved the plants aesthetically but they take up quite a bit of space. It is hard to see the food when there is a line without getting in peoples way. After being disappointed and discouraged hearing of this "Pullman standard" I was surprised to find a hidden gem here in Pullman. A tiny little bakery that serves their baked goods on real plates with silverware, and fresh squeezed mimosas served in mason jars are a must! The cake (we ordered carrot cake, but you can order any flavor) was huge (3 layers) and moist and delicious. The cookies were huge as well and all delicious! Customer service was wonderful! It has a very relaxed and rustic appeal when you enter, the food is great, and you'll occasionally see a dog running through which is the best part for me at least. It's a cozy place to study and just a great place to wind down in the afternoon. I tried their blueberry breakfast strata and asked for a mystery drink to go with it, both were really tasty. The tables are slightly small if you plan to study with a friend, but other than that I highly recommend stopping by and giving it a try. read more

Ever since this sweet little joint opened up next to our office I've been able to make it to work on time! Super friendly staff that remembers their hundreds of regulars.... it does get busy, and the wait may be longer than other places, but why does everybody have to be in such a hurry all the time? Just another thing to love about this place--if they're slammed with a line out the door they don't stop being friendly, it's no wonder many folks were willing to wait 20+ minutes for a cup of coffee on Mom's Weekend. Cutest coffee shop but a bit hard to find. Look for Beasley Realty and pull into their parking lot. Coffee shop is in the 2 story building on the corner. Super friendly staff and my drink was perfect. In addition to all of the coffee drinks they offer warm breakfast sandwiches, pastries, homemade dog treats and even blankets to those that need them when the weather is chilly. Pullman is a very tiny town with not a whole lot of options, but when I stumbled upon "Roost" I was so happy to be there! Roost has many local coffee options, homemade breakfast items and pastries and a very cozy environment. I had a brown sugar cinnamon skim latte and the baked oatmeal. The coffee is fantastic, with an awesome pastry and savory item selection.
