The restaurant is nice and quiet which is so important to me because i love to run my mouth when im eating out. Me, my team and Oregon states team went here after our 4-0 victory game to get food a couple weeks ago. It was THE best experience I've had ever at a restaurant. They closed the whole store to accommodate our 12 players! They were timely and even prepared me fresh chicken after they ran out and might I say it was probably the best tasting orange chicken I've ever eaten. In my Taiwanese hot pot I got a great variety of meat, fish and vegetables, much more than I expected for a great price. Service was timely, waitress was helpful, and it was a nice interior. My biggest critique is the fact that both hot pots I tried (veggie and taiwan) were not spicy in the slightest, like at all, when we got the maximum spice level. The waitress did tell us this would be the case and its clearly because of the white palates here but I was still disappointed by the fact that the hot pots didn't have the signature sichuan spice of malatangs. The numbing spiciness of chinese/taiwanese hot pot is something that sets apart this cuisine for me so that makes me sad. On the way to the airport, after a visit with my daughter, and needed lunch. Been struggling to find good Chinese food at home so decided to give this place a try. Boy, was I impressed! Our table overlooking the street was great. The free egg drop soup to start out the meal was delicious! It was a bit before lunchtime, so not busy at all, and the service was very prompt. While there's plenty of "Americanized" dishes for people who are used to fast-service Chinese fare, this restaurant also has a lot of authentic southeast Chinese dishes. Mandarin House has some gems on the "Chinese Menu" (that you can view in English online ahead of time from their website). The Tomato Eggs and Shrimp (蕃茄蝦仁蛋) is my favorite, and it's prepared exactly how mom makes it! The Mapo Tofu is delicious and the portion sizes for everything I've ordered are pretty big. The egg soup was the best, it was not too thick or too dilute, it was just right; and it was well loaded. My only but would be the sweet n' sour sauce. Although I appreciated the generosity and quantity, it was a bit too sweet for my palate. In my opinion it needs a little more kick or it has to be more balanced. The service is friendly, though it seems that they do more takeout than dining business. The ambiance and menu are predictable, typical American Chinese restaurant stuff.
