I always get this vegetable whenever we have dinner here - really nostalgic :) their drinks are so sweet and dangerous. You can't even tell there's alcohol in it!! They were able to accommodate us even though they were booked with reservations. We each got a main and shared the calamari and spring roll appetizers. The calamari came out hot and crispy with a nice side of their housemade basil mint mayo dip. The veggie spring rolls came out with a sweet and sour sauce that I found was okay, nothing too special. Our mains included spicy green curry, honey ginger beef, pad thai, pad kee mao, pad see ew, and the pineapple fried rice. I got to try a bit of every main and found the noodle dishes were on the saltier side. My green curry had a rich coconut flavour and had an ample amount of thai red chillies however I found it was not that spicy. The curry came out with rice and it was a good portion. However, I feel that I have had more flavourful Thai food at other restaurants. Still, Pii Nong's customer service and food was great and I would definitely consider returning to try their other offerings. They also gave my mom a small jelly dessert and food coupon for the next visit for Mother's Day which we all found very sweet.

On a hot, sunny day, I visited The Captain's Boil with friends for some seafood, and I have to say,…read moreI had a great time. From the outside, the familiar black-and-white sign was clean but showed signs of age, with faint white streaks suggesting that the exterior could use a refresh. Inside, we were greeted by a wall of colourful sticky notes, adding a fun touch to the dark, brick-lined interior. I also appreciated the nearby sink, making it easy to wash our hands without heading to the bathroom. It was definitely convenient. After being seated, the menu left much to be desired. It showed its age, with white scratches that made it hard to read the items. The ordering system was not intuitive for a first-time visitor, so we had to rely on our server for guidance. Also, the drinks menu looked like a printout from Excel, which was small, hard to read and, unfortunately, overpriced. We ordered the Matey's Feast along with another order of seafood, which was a generous meal for three people. Matey's Feast is one of their set meals that allowed us to choose two types of seafood, along with a variety of sides. Each boil also came with two regular sides, which was a nice touch. We went with Captain's Boil seasoning at medium spice, which was just right for enjoying the seafood. The boils arrived in clear bags, and we had to take them out of the bag and eat by hand. Shrimp Basket: A hot and crispy appetizer served on a bed of Cajun fries, which really whetted my appetite. The tartar sauce and ketchup on the side complemented the crunch. Captain's Fried Rice with Seafood: A simple but tasty plate of rice with shrimp. We added some of the sauce from the seafood boils for extra flavour. It was filling. Seafood Boils: Each bag of seafood was packed with seasoning and came with disposable gloves so we could dig in with our hands. The clams were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of spices. The shrimp required a bit more work, with the heads and shells needing to be removed, but they were large and fresh, making it worth the effort. The extra sauce in each bag was perfect for drenching our sides or adding more flavour to the fried rice. Sides: We chose corn for the regular sides and sausage for the premium side. Corns were quarter-length cobs of corn and the sausages were served sliced. We tossed both into the seafood boil bags to soak up the spicy sauce, making them even more enjoyable. The service was adequate, with staff checking in occasionally to ensure we had everything we needed. The washroom, located downstairs, was not spotless but still serviceable. In terms of value, I found the pricing to be on the higher side. The drinks, at $4 each, were refillable but expensive considering I only had two cups. Given that it's a seafood restaurant, higher prices were expected, but I appreciated that sides like fries and fried rice helped fill us up. Overall, I had a good time. My rating of 3 reflects the tricky ordering process and steep prices, but the food was definitely enjoyable, and I left feeling full. I'd return if I was in the mood for seafood boil and ready to splurge a little.

Horrible experience We made a reservation and still had to…read morewait 10 more minutes when we entered into the restaurant. There was a table free, but it's like they didn't want to clear it, which is fine. We weren't upset when we were seated our server, didn't come back for a good next 20 minutes. Our server was straight to the point didn't care to introduce himself. Didn't really want to explain anything on the menu or offer us anything more when we were inquiring about different foods, which is fine our order was missing a side of calamari and literally every side with the seafood so the corn potatoes and etc., even extra sides that we ordered were missing. We thought they come separately so we were waiting, but we got so hungry. We just started eating the gloves they gave us. We didn't get a bucket, never inquired about anything. Our server didn't come back to ask us if we needed anymore assistance or anything we had to pull another server to the side and ask them if we still going to get our calamari in our sides and she implies that came in with the seafood bag. We just didn't know how it worked. We never been there and you would think someone that works. There would know what they're doing, but that's OK. Things happen so we asked for our sides but this is how I know our server which was a male was out to get us when my friend kindly asked for some water and our server proceeds to give her hot water on purpose when my friend turned around and shocked to look for the server he gave her a dead blank stare with a little grin. At that point we just wanted to go we asked the server that was supposed to give us our sides, which by the way didn't come another 10 minutes pass by we just asked for the check and told her we don't want the sides anymore. We just wanna go. Our server, which was the mail gives us our bill and I see that the sides are still on there. He proceeds to say it's a part of the package and then we said OK just give us the sides and then he proceeds with a lot of attitude to say well you are the one that sent the sides back, our food was already halfway done lol we just paid and ran out. I think the service in here is disgusting and the server that served us purposely had a problem with us. He was so kind of everybody else in the restaurant besides me and my friend all servers were amazing everybody else besides me and my friend and we didn't come in there. Complaining are making attitude are doing anything rude, we were kind and we still got treated like garbage. I think this change should be embarrassed of their selves. The manager should be embarrassed, and the guy serving us should be fired giving my friend hot water is evil and disgusting. He knew what he was doing and honestly, I don't even trust the food the way they were acting if you guys want sass and attitude with your food then yeah eat here.

The "#1 fish and chips" signage caught our eyes so we ran in and let them prove it. Which they did. You can choose whatever fish ($10-$15), but the fish of the day is $9 (today it was haddock). Portion is large and great for lunch if you're hungry. Batter on the fish is perfectly light, crisp, and not as oily-seeming as it probably is. The owner/chef asked us what level of crispiness we wanted our fries to be, and I said "ummm...medium?", which is clearly the right answer because the fries were delicious. Accompany with your choice of ketchup, malt vinegar, lemon, tartar sauce, or all of the above. The owner's son was enjoying the same thing for lunch next to us. If you don't feel like going fried, everything can instead be grilled with a salad for the same price. There are also lobster rolls and fish tacos, which will definitely be my order on my next visit, which I hope is as soon as I'm physically able to eat again, which at the moment feels like never. There's also plenty of fresh seafood for sale, platters for events, and catering. Lots of happy regulars were stopping in to pick up food so obviously I'm just late to the game.

The entire staff is pleasant and genial, and the food is consistently good. The shape of the restaurant can be a little bit awkward. The first time I was here, I sat toward the back of the restaurant, which felt a little bit narrow. The second time, I was near the front, which was much more typical. Both times I've been here, I've been completely full. This place stands out among Italian places in that it serves quality ingredients, but actually gives you enough to be satisfied. Looks like they've added some tasting menus... I'll have to be back to try them!

A comforting brunch at Bonjuk Canada - perfect when you're not feeling 100%…read more My partner and I finally sat down for a proper brunch at Bonjuk this afternoon, and it was exactly the kind of meal we needed. I've been dealing with some dental pain, and my partner is just getting over a nasty cold, so we wanted something gentle, nourishing, and easy on the body - not a heavy, greasy brunch. Bonjuk's whole vibe of "comfort food with heart" really delivered. We'd only done takeout before, so this was our first time dining in. The space is small but really welcoming - warm lighting, clean and simple decor, and comfortable seating that makes you want to slow down and relax. It's not a huge place, so there aren't tons of indoor seats, but that also gives it a cozy, intimate feel. Service was friendly and low‑pressure, which we appreciated when we were both feeling a bit under the weather. We ordered the Chicken Porridge ($23) and the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap ($24), both for dine‑in (prices don't include tax and tip). The chicken porridge was savoury, and soothing, with a rich broth that felt healing without being heavy. It was easy to eat with my sore teeth and left me feeling comforted, not stuffed. The beef bulgogi bibimbap was a nice contrast - colourful, fresh, and full of flavour. The bulgogi was sweet, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the mix of veggies and egg made it feel like a balanced, healthy meal. It's definitely a step up from typical brunch fare if you're looking for something lighter but still satisfying. One thing that really stood out was their baby porridge menu. It's such a thoughtful touch - separate, gentle, low‑salt options for little ones. As someone who's seen new parents struggle to find safe, easy meals out, this felt genuinely helpful and kind. It's easy to see why their marketing feels like they actually care about making food that's good for people, not just trendy. If you're looking for the best value, I'd say go for takeaway. We noticed a steady stream of takeout orders, and the overall costs are slightly lower that way, especially when there are discounts offered by different order platform. Overall, Bonjuk Canada is a good spot when you want something comforting, healthy, and easy on the stomach - whether you're recovering from illness, have dental issues, or just want a more mindful brunch.

I love the moist pancake drizzled with some maple syrup.
