Came here on a Saturday and were seated outside on their patio where it was very shaded from the sun. We ordered the Brioch French Toast and Patatas Bravas. Really enjoyed how soft the French toast was and the fruits tasted fresh too-- would recommend. The Patatas Bravas was well-made as well -- home fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, egg was perfect (I was just expecting something else in my mind) . The last few weeks of August I came here to celebrate my birthday. It was a wonderful and yummy birthday dinner. We had reservations at 6:30. The dinner crowd was just starting to arrive. It was a cooler evening so we sat inside. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and had a nice ambiance and we were immediately greeted. We ordered the crab cakes and drinks. Service was amazing. They were attentive but gave us time to chit chat and enjoy! I ordered the Spicy Angel Hair Pasta with Sautéed Tiger Prawns, my friends ordered the Creamy Truffle Butter Tagliatelle and the Lobster Spaghetti. Our dishes came out...WOW! I mean look at these dishes. The shrimp were huge, pasta cooked to perfection and the spicy tomato sauce was nicely spiced. Food was hot, and just truly delicious! Both my friend equally enjoyed their meals. The creamy truffle butter tagliatelle was also delish! I didn't get a chance to sample the Lobster Spaghetti but my friend enjoyed a lot there was nothing left, she ate it so fast and wouldn't stop! lol. Last thing we ordered was coffee and dessert. For brunch, we got: - Burrata Salad: Plump and creamy burrata, plump and juicy tomatoes. - Truffle Tagliatelle: Absolutely outstanding. Strong truffle flavour, perfectly al dente pasta. My favourite dish overall and would come back for it. - French Onion Cheeseburger with Fries: Pretty good size, patty was juicy enough, gruyere cheese was ample. If you're in the mood for a burger and don't mind the higher price, this is fine. For dinner, we got: - Burrata with Prosciutto: The burrata was again plump and creamy, the prosciutto was plentiful. - Shrimp Francaise: Huge shrimps! Absolutely bathed in butter! What's not to love? (I wanted more!) - Fillet Mignon: Good quality cooked to a great temperature. Reasonably priced for the size. Side baked potato was standard. - Chicken Cordon Bleau: It was ok, nothing special. The side potato gratin though was outstanding - so cheesy, it was my favourite part of the meal. - Grand Marnier Souffle: More cake-y than the usual souffles I've had. Also takes around 20 minutes to prepare ahead if you want it timed well. Overall service was excellent - prompt, informative, welcoming. Interiors are fancy, patio is breezy. A high quality establishment without a doubt. Our server was really attentive and courteous. One thing I liked, which is often underappreciated, was the flow of bread -- first, we received complementary bread in the first place, and second, our server was generous with additional bread once we finished the first plate. The space itself is elegant, and you feel like you're somewhere special when you're there. The decor is nice, and the furniture is comfortable. In terms of cost, this place is certainly not cheap, but you know that going in. It's up for debate whether the food is worth the price -- regardless, I did enjoy my meal. Filet Mignon - Ordered medium and received medium -- nice. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, with a juicy interior and a nice crisp exterior. Not pictured are the mashed potatoes which were tasty as well, amplified with the additional peppercorn sauce ($5 upcharge), which was certainly worth it. A very elegant restaurant with excellent service and carefully made food. We had the tomato burrata that came with prosciutto, good heirloom tomatoes and a good burrata. Main was steak and well made vegetables with truffled mashed potatoes. Finished with grand marnier soufflé (20 minute wait, worth it). Generous servings of all - in fact we split the main. A wonderful decaf French press coffee with dessert capped it all off. The crowd skews older (always a good sign of good food) but as a result has a more relaxed vibe vs upbeat. Today we we t o L'Avenue at the Well (Front & Spadina), for an afternoon lunch. We were greeted by Gabrielle who explained the menu and mentioned this is the restaurant's opening week. L'Avenue is bright anc beautiful decorated with pop art such as lovely Bridgette , the mannequin & a hanging motorcycle. Our server Ari was warm and friendly and gave us more information on the menu. My friend, Martin order a magnificent Tuna salad plate. He said it "is absolutely delicious ". My order was a burger in cheese sauce with Waffle fries. It is one of thd best burgers, I have ever eaten. The fries were crisp anc delicious. We ended the meal with very fresh brewed coffee which Ari gave us. We were truly impressed with the warmth and friendliness of Gabrielle and Ari. The food was outstanding and fairly priced. The service is prompt anc professional. The decor is formal and the staff made us feel special; like we were out for an occasion. Shared the beef tartare to start, followed by the Margareta pizza and the truffle pasta. Four of us for dinner, our first time at L'Avenue. The restaurant is small but elegant and the wait staff delightful and attentive without being annoying or officious. Two of us had burgers, two had steaks, all were wonderful. Bread comes with an anchovy paste, a mushroom bruschetta was made with mushrooms and was generous in size. There was a fine wine list, though not overwhelming, and some interesting cocktails which were well made and delicious. There is no beer on the menu - it might be worthwhile offering a couple of well-made local craft beers to the mix. A most enjoyable evening. read more
