After hearing my friends sing the praises of Ricarda's, I finally got to experience their Sunday Jazz brunch last weekend, and I can confirm: it lives up to every bit of the hype. We had a 10:30 AM reservation and were seated a comfortable distance from where the band was setting up. This was a perfect arrangement, as I could appreciate the lovely jazz in the background while still having an easy conversation with my friend. A quick tip for fellow brunch-goers: the Sunday jazz brunch menu is different from the Saturday one. I had my heart set on a savory crepe, which wasn't available, but my second choice turned out to be a showstopper. I ordered the Ricarda's special, which included scrambled eggs, a fresh rocket salad, bacon, sausage, and sourdough toast. The real surprise, however, was the side of mini ricotta pancakes. As someone who isn't usually a big pancake fan, I was shocked to find myself devouring every last bite of these fluffy little treats! The portions were perfectly sized--generous enough to be filling without feeling overwhelming. We also enjoyed some delicious, expertly made cappuccinos with our meal. The restaurant itself has a sophisticated, posh vibe, but the staff are incredibly warm and attentive, which makes for a wonderfully balanced dining experience. They have different specials for each day and Saturdays are "Saturday in Paris" and you can add variety of crêpe to your order. Took my mom out for her birthday with my girlfriend and other family members...and Ricarda's delivered. The ambiance was beautiful and calming on a Sunday, with a live jazz band in the background that really set the tone. Elegant but still super chill. I ordered the Ricarda's Toronto breakfast plate, which came with two eggs your way (scrambled), breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, a fresh side salad, sourdough toast, and two small lemon pancakes. I was debating the truffle fries instead of potatoes, but I'm glad I stuck with the breakfast potatoes. They were crispy, seasoned perfectly, and paired with that truffle aioli on the side ...an absolute game changer! The lemon pancakes were a nice surprise too. Light, zesty, and just sweet enough to round out the meal. Portions were generous and well-balanced. The staff were super friendly and welcoming and made the whole experience feel smooth and special. I booked a reservation for my friends and I for breakfast. They have a special menu where each dish is only $10 if you order between 9 and 10am, which is a great deal. We tried most of the items from that menu, w all agreed that everything tasted ok but nothing outstanding. We all loved the interior of the restaurant though, and it's very spacious in the main restaurant area, along with a venue area next door for weddings and other special events. The washrooms are clean. The servers were very nice and explained the menu to us patiently, and provided us extra condiments when we asked. Short staffed :( Came here for a large party brunch during the holidays and although the space was huge, it was severely short staffed. Wait times for our drinks and food were long, often times our drinks came cold since the restaurant wanted to serve us all at once. I get it, you want the party to have all beverages out at once but that ruins the quality of your beverages, making them lukewarm. Don't get me wrong, the staff were super nice and accommodating, they were just so short staffed that the wait times for anything is worth noting. We got the fixed brunch menu for our party. Some of the items were sharable items for the table, family style. The pastries and fruit for sharing are fine. However, chia seed pudding and yogurt parfait for table sharing was a little odd as a starter. It's not the best item for sharing as the consistencies are more watery than solid food, forcing you to scoop multiple rounds on the same spoon rather than picking at it only once. Entrees for sharing were nice though. Banana french toast was great - tasted like a banana bread. Lemon pancakes are great for sharing. Eggs benny was delicious, perfect egg running consistency. What a fantastic Sunday brunch buffet! There were oysters, shrimp, smoked salmon, and tuna ceviche at the seafood cold table. The grill had lobster, short ribs, scallops wrapped with bacon, and chicken skewers. Charcuterie meats and cheeses were plentiful. It's rare to find bresaola. For the breakfast food selection you could choose eggs cooked to your liking, bacon, sausages, and potatoes. Waffles and crepes at another station with a variety of toppings. For the more healthy choices there were salads, smoothies, and various other chia and possibly yogurt cups. Several baked items were available. Desserts in small portions which is a great idea. Less waste and more opportunities to try different things. My only criticism would be the croissants were not flaky. That was too bad. Presentation and taste wise, everything else looked good and tasted good too! Service was just right. We made reservations for this place on Saturday, they have a summerlicious menu, but apparently not on weekends.... Overall the service was not that good. First they forgot to bring out one of the drinks that we ordered. Second, it took very long to bring the food out. I got the quinoa spinach sandwich and it was delish. The fries were good as well! For adults only, this elevated brunch party also feature DJ's and live entertainment. This brunch experience was certainly unique, with music pumping and live drums being played. Was lucky enough to visit Ricarda's almost a year ago (Feb 2020) so this review is a bit old, but pre-lockdown this was one of my favorite restauraunts. They had numerous events going on where ticket admittance (around $50 based on what event was that night) gets you inside, and once inside all meals/drinks are free! They had everything from risotto to small steaks, macaroons and fresh ice creams and a huge selection of cocktails. Ribs, oysters, grilled meats gallore, and a DJ was there to keep the party going. I've also been to Ricarda's for regular restauraunt service as well, and the service is to say the least, impeccable. The selection of wines, spirits and beers is very diverse, and within the restauraunt there is a full separate cafe with amazing baked goods and desserts. The entrees and appetizers aren't your standard fare either, the menu contains unique dishes such as grilled octopus, lamb burgers and Ontario ribeye. Although its temporarily closed now I'd say when it re-opens its definitely the place to either have an event or a quiet formal dinner. read more

My friend wanted to try this brunch place for the longest time so we decided to visit on a Saturday morning. While looking through the menu on their website, I noticed they have Jazz on Sundays but reservations are usually booked up three weeks out so definitely reserve in advance if you're looking to get some jazz with your meal! Staff were very friendly and always checked in on us. From entering the restaurant, they had a warm greeting and brought me to my table. They even offered to hang up my jacket on the coat rack. Throughout my meal, they checked to make sure it tasted well and ensured my water was always refilled. 5/5 for service! Food was great as well - I ordered the Steak and Eggs and was pleasantly surprised by how good the shoestring fries were. Steak was cooked to my liking and I enjoyed the various food that was included in the plate including eggs sunny side up, field greens salad and sourdough bread. After being at Ricarda's on a couple of occasions, I have to say that this place is where you want to be on Wednesday Nights! Ya...Wednesday! Hump Day... the day you fight to get to so you can forget Monday and look forward to Friday - which seems too far away! Fear not! Wednesday night is the new Friday night at Ricarda's! Ricarda's hosts an off the chain Wednesday night called Ricarda's Kitchen Party! For $55, you get all you can eat food like lamb chops, charcuterie, yakitori, and an oyster bar with raw, smoked, or baked with chorizo! I try to get to it but some Oyster Lounge Lizards parked with ArSSes in front of it and grazed on the tasty bivalves all night. Lucky for us, they had plenty more! Whew! You also get 2 or 3 drinks thrown in. You walk into the place onto a red carpet. You literally meet a lady in red standing at the doorway and the red carpet, it's the train of her dress! I tried to skip over it the rest of the night. Servers lead groups of people to the check-in and introduce the place to newcomers. At check-in, you are given an environmentally friendly utensil kit and poker chips - one chip per drink. You can however, start with a Dragon's Breath drink. It's an alcohol drink that is nitrogen frozen. You place it in your mouth, breath out like a dragon and enjoy the drink. Kind of cool. Head to the bar and look over the cocktails of the night, or have a beer or wine if that's your fancy. Drink in hand, head into the playground of good eats! Ceviche, Risotto, grilled scallops, ... muse-bouche hanging in little ornaments floating on balloons... AND if you are lucky, you will meet Chef Julian running around ensuring that everything is perfect. It's a cray cray night with so many people, food, and drinks. I love their food here so I had booked a large (10-12 ppl) reservation a month in advance for my birthday party (they had taken down my cc and everything was confirmed). I was called 2 weeks prior to the day by Ricarda's saying they didn't know how I managed to book a reservation on a Saturday night where they were having a food event and the restaurant would be CLOSED. They basically called me to let me know they had to cancel my reservation and could offer me 25% off my party's bill if we came in the next day/weekend. I was too flustered and upset at the moment to take them up on their offer because I had to scramble to find a restaurant in Toronto that would accept a reservation of 12, 2 weeks out. I was actually VERY upset because I was REALLY looking forward to eating here and sharing the great food with a group of my closest friends. I have to adjust my review only because this reflects on their customer service. Yes they did try to make up for it but how did their ERP restaurant reservations system and management let people make reservations on nights that restaurant is closed? I enjoyed the food, the simple Ricarda's breakfast dish was delicious, salad was great, eggs cooked perfectly and the curry chick pea potato side was flavorful. What fell short for me during my visit here for brunch was the service. Coffee (which came in a very small cup) was not refilled, nor was our water. We mostly had to wave for someone to get what we needed. It was not a busy afternoon either, there were only a few tables at that time. We had an early dinner at Ricarda's on a weekday. In fact, we were so early that the kitchen was still having their pre-dinner huddle when we walked in. There were only a handful of patrons at the low sofas chatting quietly when we got there. The staff seated us promptly and we had a lovely relaxed dinner. It also helped that they were celebrating their anniversary and giving out a free glass of prosecco to each person! We started off with some great bread with a tomato olive spread. Just from the bread alone, you could tell they know what they are doing in the kitchen!! I had the dinner special, which as a Cornish hen with gnocci and vegetables. The presentation of the dish was absolutely beautiful, without skimping on the portion size to be a full meal. Each mouthful was delicious. That is misleading. The discount is only for the person who is celebrating the birthday. The food was delicious and well worth the price. We ordered the shareable for two for $82. Slow cooked veal tenderloin and seared yellowfin tuna for a start. It's like teasing you with 1 quail egg slice into half, 2 potato chips and pinch of green fields. Wines were great , service was awesome, but the heirloom and tomato burrata dish was disappointing. It did Not have enough flavour and there were only tiny morsels of burrata on the dish. This restaurant is very very good. I have been here for Breakfast and Supper. Their Benny's is now one of my favorites in Toronto. I was hesitant to order it because it was on an English muffin and since they were also a bakery I was hoping for the Benny to be on top of something that was made in house. To my surprise, it was! Their English muffin was the best I ever had and it was made at the bakery. Their side salad was perfectly season and delicious. I also ordered a side scone. It was good but wish it came warm and with butter. Their dinners were good too. The only reason why I gave them 4 stars was their duck was extremely rare even though the flavours were there. I should have sent it back but I did not have the courage to do it. Their dessert was amazing. I am still craving their special dessert of the day which I don't remember the name of. Came here recently for the Summerlicious lunch. I had high expectations for this place and was really excited to finally make it here. Unfortunately I wasn't blown away. The restaurant was a little far to go for lunch if you work in the financial district. The place is spacious with very comfortable u-shape booth seatings that's perfect for a group 6 people. As far as decor, the place was absolutely stunning. I had the seared spicy beef to start which was nice but I wasn't too fond of the pan seared octopus and the coconut panna cotta was a little disappointing. The regular menu items are probably better but they should have still made an effort to wow their customers with the Summerlicious Prix Fixe lunch for $28. I stopped by Ricarda for a weeknight dinner with my family, and we shared a dinner for 2 for $80 (you get to share a starter, a pasta, a main, and a dessert) and ordered a flatbread on the side as well. This time around, I was not blown away by the food. Everything, from the risotto to the tiramisu dessert, was rather mediocre. Also for the amount of food we got, I thought everything was quite pricey. The best value item we got was probably the flatbread, which I unfortunately did not enjoy due to the type of cheese that they used. Wow. Where do I start about Ricarda's. What an awesome experience. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was amazing. First, the building is literally in another building. We got a bit of a history lesson of the place and found out that although the restaurant opened in 2016, the building used to be a factory (biscuits I think!). Suits was filmed here and they even host weddings here! They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They even have a legit cafe/bakery inside. Onto the food. Wow the food. Appetizers such as bacon shrimp and charcuterie was a good intro to what the meal was going to be all about. If there's one thing they do exceptionally well, it is the seafood. The char-grilled octopus was extremely tender and that celery puree? Forget about describing it. Just go and try! Black-striped lobster ravioli was on point. Grounded black pepper and salt carefully placed along the rim of the plate gave the dish that pop that enhanced the flavour of the fish. The cote de boeuf was expertly cooked to medium rare and the grilled fish parrillada was a beautiful mix of seafood including scallops, shrimp, fish and octopus. Hungry yet? I'm salivating thinking about it and I just ate it. For dessert I had the brown sugar pineapple cake and there were different sauces on every side of the plate. The cake itself isn't too sweet but the flavour of the sides made it. Caramel, yogurt lime, coconut dacquiose, wow. The service was amazing. The servers and hosts were attentive and warm. They took care of every detail that I hardly knew what was going on (but that may have been the wine haha) and my glass was filled and utensils and plates cleared. Ricarda's has been my favourite Sunday brunch buffet spot for a few years now, ever since I realized it had AYCE oysters and a pan seared foie gras station (with the best au jus!) right next to the omelette station. At $59 per person, it is not a bad deal for the great selection of food you're getting, and getting to enjoy the live jazz band while you're brunching is a plus. This time around, it was an amazing birthday celebration for my dad, from beginning to end! The hostess was friendly, offered to hang our winter coats, and came back to check up on us and my dad to make sure he was enjoying himself. Our server, Christopher, was lovely - he gave us a tour and came by to surprise my dad with a birthday cake and candle, while the wonderful trio jazz band played "Happy Birthday". Best part was that my dad turned 74 this year, so he got 74% off his meal with Ricarda's birthday special. Love it! And near the end, when the fluffy pancakes ran out, I asked the pancake station cook if there were any more, and he surprised me by having the chef especially make me some special lemon ricotta pancakes that they don't usually have on Sunday brunch days. It was so sweet of him to come up to me unexpectedly with the pancakes and I enjoyed it thoroughly with the airiest and freshest vanilla bean whipped cream (you can see the vanilla bean black dots in it!) and wild blueberry compote. It tasted like cloud 9! Needless to say, the service was fantastic! Rest of the food was great as always - oysters were fresh; foie gras was tasty and I'm always a fan of the grilled eggplant and the DIY s'mores bar with the roast your own marshmallows! Only thing that could've made it perfect was if the hot carving stations with the prime rib, porchetta and glazed salmon were hotter temperature wise and the meats more tender. The decor of this place alone was enough to get it 5 stars. It instantly makes you feel as though you've entered some idyllic outdoor space with the openness and decor. The food and service take it over the top. Our waiter was patient and gave great recos. Everything from the cocktail menu to the entrees was great. The Nevermind will have you ready to forget it all! Light and refreshing but packs a punch. Lobster sliders were my favorite appetizer and really could have been a meal with the fries as a side. My dinner entree was the only mild letdown, branzino, because it was a bit under-seasoned. Wish I would have gotten the bouillabaisse or snapper as both looked delicious around the table. Came here for Summerlicious dinner - must say that for the price ($33), it was pretty worth it. Started with the Ontario prime beef tartare (4/5) - the beef tasted fantastic and all flavours worked well together. I liked that they played up the look of the dish by plating it in bone marrow, but they also put roughly three tablespoons of sea salt on one end just for aesthetics apparently (kind of wasteful). Since we were eating at 8:30pm, it was pretty dark in the restaurant so I thought it was grated cheese of some sort...ended up eating a mouthful of salt. Totally unnecessary in my opinion. Had the octopus saffron risotto for my main (3.5/5). The whole dish was slightly overcooked but otherwise good. It had a fair amount of mussels and chorizo too. Plating could definitely use some work. Ordered the hazelnut goat cheese dacquoise with raspberries in port with thyme (3/5). It was okay, not amazing. There's something about the thyme flavour that just didn't mesh well. Service was great. Even though the food came out pretty slowly, our server would swing by and give us an update occasionally. He also brought over some fries (they're really good!) on the house - probably because of the wait - so that was a nice touch. Summerlicious 2017 has started! Since this restaurant is close to home, we decided to try their Summerlicious menu. The restaurant is spacious and has a contemporary look. We were greeted by an Asian host by the name of Vance. She took us to our seats but since we didn't really like where we're being seated, we kindly asked her if we can go to the window table for 2. Her reply was that it was reserved. And so I told her we also made a reservation to which she replied "It was reserved for a group". Mind you, we were there at 11:30 am so the restaurant is not full yet so not sure why she didn't agreed to our simple request. WTF, we've dine in a lot of Toronto restaurants (from the high end to the low end) and this is the first time a request for another table wasn't granted to us on an empty restaurant! Even though we had this "not so good experience", we tried to forget about it and give the restaurant another chance. The food was good although portions are smaller compared to other 'licious restaurants we've been to. But what's up with the people who work in this restaurant? Our server wasn't even smiling and uncommunicative. Even the people who brings your food lacks the enthusiasm and energy you normally see from people who work in the food hospitality industry. With so many competing restaurants around the area and restaurants closing, Ricarda's should really take into consideration how to provide good customer service. The restaurant itself is actually very gorgeous. The ambiance and the crowd is very in. The lighting and the way everything is set up is definitely great for photos. Sevice and the food were okay. We stopped in for brunch and the drinks were delicious. The staff was very sweet, but the food wasn't the greatest. A few friends had steak and eggs, which they said was super. All you can drink mimosas - white cranberry is fire. The buffet is outstanding. To die for. Make sure you get the TART . Not danish. Loved the Italian sausage combo with the over easy eggs. This review needs to be broken into two parts. Let's start with the positive portion. The food was fresh and cooked well, minus the dry porchetta. The made to order eggs Benedict's (bottomless!) were cooked perfect everytime. Someone mentioned they wished the English muffins were toasted/warmed up but didn't take much away. The made to order omelettes were delicious, the made to order pasta was excellent. The seafood was pretty good, some oysters looked like a bit funky but we didn't complain much about them. Overall, we felt like it was a great experience and the food would receive 4/5 stars. Now for the less than stellar - service was a solid 2/5. I didn't catch our waiter's name but he really ruined the experience for us. First off, we were there to celebrate a major birthday milestone and they had a (fabulous) birthday discount for the birthday boy. Upon arrival, the waiter asked for his ID. no problem, we passed it over and he took it away (maybe to photocopy? Check for authenticity?? Who knows). He returned a little while later, while we were helping ourselves to the buffet and he just left the ID sitting unattended on the table. Wuuutttttt?! Luckily another friend saw it and picked it up to return to the birthday boy. Secondly, we understood we had a two hour window. Just past the one hour mark, he assumed we were finished and started clearing off the table and then he brought us our bills...we hadn't even asked for them! So we paid...but since we weren't done, we kept eating and drinking...as were our right. He didn't seem overly pleased by this. At about the 1.5ish mark, he reminded us that they needed the table at 1pm. At a joyous occasion, we felt like he ruined our experience and made things quite uncomfortable. I would love to return with other friends for other special occasions but this waiter and service really makes me think twice. *brunch review* My friends and I showed up on a Saturday, and to my horror, my name was *not* on the list because I accidentally booked Sunday brunch by mistake. I was ready to wear the cone of shame, but the hostesses saved the day: they worked their magic to get us a table, waiving the last-minute cancellation fee too! Note: Sundays are for jazz buffet brunch at a premium, hence the fee. The space was absolutely GORGEOUS. Glossy marble tables, dark hardwood floors, sleek bar, modern pendant lighting, plus lots of natural lighting, etc. It's like we walked into an interior designer magazine. Since we were celebrating a bachelorette, obviously we had to start with some mimosas ;) Choose between orange, peach, or white grape - yum! Food was good, not mind-blowing. Loved that all the brunch dishes included side salad and toast - it's all about balance, am I right? Definitely order the BANANA BREAD FRENCH TOAST - I don't care if you order it as your main, side, dessert, whatever - just try it and thank me later. Pricey meal but would return again for the vibe. What a gem. An absolute gem within the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto. The ambiance is perfect for a nice date night, a small gathering of friends or meeting your favourite aunt for lunch. Tasteful decor, spacious with gorgeous earth tones. Service was impeccable. The staff are attentive to your every need and very friendly. The food - the one dish I had was 10/10. Steak was perfectly grilled to a medium rare finish as requested. Peppercorn crusted on a bed of mashed potatoes and onions. There's a patisserie inside the restaurant. The desserts looked absolutely delectable. I did not indulge - but next time, absolutely. Will definitely be back. read more

Apparently it is around $80 / person for weekend brunch. However, it also got a 3-course-prefix menu which is about $35 / person. I really like this place because the service is good, food is good, environment is good, just a bit expensive. I choose the tuna salad starter. Surprisingly, it got big chunks of tuna, the tuna is pretty fresh and tasty. I was deciding between mushroom linguine and lamb burger for main course. Some of teammates choose lamb burger, the portion was really good and I heard it was very juicy. I chose mushroom linguine. The portion was good as well, and the linguine was nicely cooked, both tender and chewy at same. The dessert was an art piece. This is a definitely nice restaurant to have a fancy meal. read more

I went here for breakfast one morning and had no idea what to expect. It's really beautiful and the service was decent. The servings were much larger than I was expecting so in that way it could make it worth the price tag however, the food was nothing to write home about. It was decent.
