The Lost Land - Or as I like to call it, Indiana Jones and the Quest for Beer
The outside of this place is... a mystery. Like, full-on Scooby-Doo levels of confusion. One sign says "The Lost Land," another says "Bunch & Bar" -- but it's half-eaten by some overachieving plants. Is it a jungle? A brunch spot? An art installation? Who knows. We ventured in anyway, because we're brave like that (and hungry).
It was a Friday post-work dinner -- prime time to treat ourselves. The menu? Minimalist. Some might say "curated," others might say "short." We had our hearts (and stomachs) set on the 16 Hr Braised Beef Cheeks -- which, plot twist, was MIA. Lost... in the Lost Land. Fitting.
Then I tried to order a beer. Simple, right? Nope. "We don't have beer," said the server, casually dropping that bomb like it wasn't a national crisis. But don't worry, they do have wine and cocktails. Just... not many. This is not the place to go if you enjoy having options -- or beer.
What we did order:
* Foie Gras Crostini - fancy toast with a side of guilt
* Hibiscus Salad
* Yellow Fin Tuna Crudo - raw fish trying to be edgy
* Pan Seared King Oyster Mushroom - surprisingly dramatic for a fungus
* Shrimp Chitarra - pasta doing its best
* 10 oz Prime Strip Loin Steak - finally, some meat that made sense
The food? Honestly, not bad. Nothing blew our minds, but also nothing sent us running for the exit. The steak held it down. The mushrooms had a bit of main-character energy. The rest were decent supporting acts.
Service was fine. Not overly enthusiastic, but we weren't ignored either. Think "first week on the job" vibes.
Overall: It's giving... "we tried." Maybe worth checking out if you're in the area and feeling adventurous. Just don't go looking for beer -- or beef cheeks. read more
