We had reservations here on a busy Saturday evening. Our table was ready when we arrived and it was a cozy one towards the back. It was a packed house and my only complaint of the night was the noise, but it would not deter me from returning. We ordered some cocktails off the menu and both of us were pleased with our selection. My boyfriend's lamb shank was absolutely perfect! So exquisitely tender and seasoned to complement the flavor of the lamb... this is the sort of dish I would return for over and over. I believe it is only on the menu fridays and Saturdays. My lamb platter was also delicious and our lamb dumplings with dipping sauce were fantastic. The woman next to us said the Branzino was excellent and I saw many people ordering and enjoying it. We took home some Baklava to enjoy and when you go here do not miss out on this perfect treat even if you're stuffed... it's just as perfect leftover. This is a great spot for any occasion and I can't wait to eat here again.

Nicely decorated, authentic Turkish restaurant. We got seated quickly for an early dinner, but they do ask for reservations, so I suggest making one just in case on OpenTable. The waiter seemed stand-off ish and a bit rude to be honest. He was impatient and didn't seem to like it when I asked the prices for the specials. It took a long time for him to actually ask us what we wanted to take our order, which was a bit annoying. The table bread was pillowy on the inside and very crunchy on the outside. The sauce they gave us also paired very well with the bread. I got the Adana kabob, which was nicely plated. I thought the portion was quite small at first, but it was a perfect size in the end. The ground lamb was filled with spices, and the lamb was marinated and cooked nicely. The rice was a miss though, it barely had any sort of flavor. For dessert, we tried the baklava which was pretty good. Overall, pretty good experience for my first time trying Turkish food!

An interesting Turkish restaurant in Chapel Hill. Conveniently located across the street from public parking this unassuming restaurant adorned in wood and darker tones serves unique fare. With rugs hanging from the walls this restaurant is a departure from many other local restaurants. We came on a Saturday night for dinner with reservations. The restaurant was packed and the waiters stretched thin. Took about 10 minutes to get a menu (one wasn't on the table when we where seated, just a wine menu). Once we got the menu it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks and order placed. The drinks where interesting and delicious. Once the food arrived it was tasty and hearty. Temperature was on point and we left stuffed. If you are in the mood for Turkish food this is the place to go. But I am not sure I would return again otherwise.

Came here with my friend on a rainy week day. I love the food here! Love Mediterranean food! The dishes were super delicious. Very rich, creamy, and tasty. I loved all the dishes I got here! Lamb shank was not a disappointment at all. But low key lamb shank never disappoints me at any med restaurants. Hummus was fresh and delicious. Service was great. My waiter stopped by multiple times to fill our drinks and asked for feedbacks. Restaurant was well decorated and with ample space. Loved the experience. Can't wait to come back!

Never had Turkish food before, but now I'm a fan. Love it! Came to Chapel Hill for a meeting and dined here with colleagues. Enjoyed a couple bottles of wine and most of their shareable appetizers and main course. Loved the braised lamb shank and whole baked fish. Also loved all the fresh and colorful ingredients. Wonderful place to wine and dine in small or large groups. Would definitely recommend a for all comers! Turkish food is delicious!

Excellent Mediterranean Turkish food & equally excellent service! The surroundings are lovely as well. The food was so good we didn't get a chance to take pics because we inhaled everything! The meat manti appetizer was delicious (we got a large order), typically order a choban salad Which was fresh & crisp, the slow cooked lamb shank was melt in your mouth flavorful, the salmon shis, & Adana Shis all perfectly cooked & deliciously seasoned. Highly recommend.

The food was delicious! They give you complimentary bread and a sauce in the beginning. The meal itself was a relatively hearty meal that filled me up but wasn't too heavy. I think it's also reasonably priced. Definitely seems authentic and I would come back to try something different. Plus the overall setting is really cute. The only thing that bothered me about this place was the service. At first, my friend and I weren't sure what to get so we told the waiter we needed another minute. He made a face at us and grunted and then didn't come back and left us waiting for a long time to order. We were never checked on the whole meal. At the end, when we were paying, we asked if we could split the check (me and my friend) and the waiter seemed annoyed that I asked. It just feels like the people working there are overall really nonchalant/passive aggressive and we felt really uncomfortable the whole time. I'm still ranking it 4/5 because the food was good and people should try it. Just be wary of how the waiters can act.

Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

It is a family owned restaurant, which I love. She politely said we could still order and eat inside. It was 2:00pm. We were the only ones inside the restaurant. We tried the hummus and pita, which was delicious. She mentioned their falafel was one of their best items, so I had to try it. It came with four pieces. They were piping hot and so good. I dipped them in the hummus. I also ordered the chicken kabab (marinated chicken with peppers, onions, and tomatoes over their homemade rice. I asked for no tomatoes and the beef shawarma plate with a Greek salad and tahini sauce. The food was good. I loved the Greek salad with big chunks of tomatoes. The chicken kabab (which she did explain did not come in a skewer) was a bit dry. I dipped it in the hummus. It lacked a bit of presentation. Something that took me by surprise was that we were given our food on paper plates, with paper cups and plastic forks, even though we were eating inside the restaurant. Not sure if it's the same for all lunch and/or dinner. The owner is very nice and I truly appreciated her letting us eat there even though it was close to closing hour. I took the rest of the hummus and pita to go so they could close at 2:30pm. Overall, great experience and good food.

We came in around 1:15 on a Wednesday, excited to try this spot after reading all the great Yelp…read morereviews and seeing the 100 sanitation score. The place was clean, which was nice, but it was surprisingly loud for how not-busy it was. We ordered the steak and cheese pita, the beef burger, and a salad. The salad was fresh but super watery, which made it a bit disappointing. The steak and cheese pita didn't really have much flavor and kind of fell apart as we ate it. It also had a runny sauce that wasn't tzatziki, and we weren't quite sure what it was supposed to be. The burger was okay, but the patty was that perfectly round, pressed kind of meat that felt a little too mass-produced. Honestly, the burger would've been better without the meat. The sweet tea had an odd aftertaste we couldn't quite figure out. We ended up eating most of the food (except the salad, which we boxed up), but overall it just wasn't what we were hoping for. We eat at a lot of Greek restaurants--some run by Greek friends--so this didn't really feel authentic to us. Nice people, clean spot, but probably not a place we'd come back to.

When I called to sort it out, the manager not only refused to acknowledge the mistake but flat-out insisted the missing item was in the bag, implying that I was wrong or lying. It absolutely was not there. This kind of dismissive and unprofessional attitude is completely unacceptable. As far as the food. A Greek salad with ONE olive, one single slice of cucumber and a single slice of tomato is not a Greek salad. It's honestly laughable. The tzatziki , hummus, bulgar pilaf and rice were decent. But the meat? Very tough. Didn't seem fresh. The stuffed grape leaves. Definitely not made in house. The gyro meat I cannot speak of because it was missing. Maybe they were doing me a favor. NEVER AGAIN. Poor food. Poor management.

Excellent selection of Arab / Middle Eastern / Mediterranean / Asian goods. They have a great variety of both the standard staples, such as chick peas, bread, seasonings, yogurts, cheeses, frozen goods, and other raw or prepared ingredients, but also have more nuanced items you might not have seen in a long time had you grown up elsewhere and moved to the US. I don't have to go and order things online anymore. Additionally they have a butcher that has fresh meats that are also halal if you're Muslim. I haven't ever had their meats, and am not Muslim, but I know where to go if I need lamb or goat on special occasions. They don't really have produce beyond some shelf stable items, but that excluded, it's pretty much an oasis. Finally, the store is kept clean, well stocked, and organized. I've never been in there with items I need missing. They recently did a facelift on the front of the store and it looks awesome, very modern and inviting. The owners and their sons are super friendly, extremely kind, even offering to special order things I ask about, and are always in a helpful / cheerful mood! Would HIGHLY recommend stopping in to anyone looking for things they need, or just wanting to see what a Middle Eastern store looks like!
