Chicken Shawarma is a (IMO) well seasoned cinnamon forward profile that delivers a tender chew. Don't let the cinnamon description deter you. The flavor is complex, savory, and very good! The garden pizzette is delicious. The perfect mixup of feta, mint, tomato, and cucumber...Chef's Kiss (dip in hummus and/or tzatziki for that extra, extra added flavor). We also loved the tzatziki/lebnah sauce. Perfect balance for our Americanized palate. My biggest complaint, would be consistency. I ordered twice in one week. I usually go to the Cary location for multiple catering orders that I place per month. The people at the Cary location have been very polite, friendly and helpful. I was going to be closer to the Raleigh location this past month so I decided to go to the Raleigh location and see if they could do the same as cary. I went in and asked a young man he said that should not be a problem for me to put in my catering orders and then have my payment done a certain way at the register, as they usually do, in cary. I placed my order and got to the register and then the very nice girl that was there was going to ring me up. She wasn't sure how to manually enter my credit card information that I needed to give, so she asked what I'm going to assume was her manager or whoever was in charge that day? The woman turned around and looked at me as if I walked in and started in her face. Her face was so disgusted, twisted up, and snarled with disapproval. She asked me, with a huge attitude, "what was going on here?". I politely explained the situation, which is that, at the Cary location our company pays over the phone when I arrive. I handed her the phone to give her the credit card information and she was speaking to my boss (who is a very world-renowned doctor) about the payment info. She was so rude to him and said "well usually we don't do this but we'll do it this time". I informed her that from now on, since it was such a problem we will gladly go to the other location or just another restaurant in general. The younger people at the register were extremely friendly and polite and really made this experience the most positive thing from this whole trip to this location. As I was leaving the female who had the attitude earlier did say that she " was sorry, and that she just didn't know what she was walking into". At this point, I really did not care about an I'm sorry, because I will never go back to this location. I don't care who or what she is, but if she doesn't know what she's walking into, then the best idea for her(if she had any business or common sense)would be to approach it in a professional manner and not with a stank attitude. I have worked in doing catering sales,amahing businesses, throwing events, and ordering multiple catering orders for other businesses that I run. I have never and would never, approach anyone like this if I was uncertain of any situation. It puts a really bad look on their whole concept. I have already talked to multiple people about this and told all the physicians that I work with. I have also discussed this encounter with other people who do multiple orders for catering and other event networking groups. I will never be ordering from this location again. I hope whatever they do, they get it right, and start hiring people who appreciate having a job, to make sure that no one else feels so turned off by someone like this. I could probably live off the food from Sassool for the rest of my life. I love this restaurant- it is extremely spacious with a mini grocery store inside, so much seating, and a giant menu of food to choose from and fresh sides in the window you can pick out. I often get the same few sides- fava bean salad and mjadarah (amazing rice and onion dish), with the chicken pasta or vegetable lasagna. It hits the spot EVERY time. Not to mention the food is so fresh, tastes homemade, and is healthy. There's a meal for every dietary preference here. Excellent food, love the market. Very nice experience overall. However one thing just kills the ambience for me. In the dining area they have these motion cameras that turn in INSANELY bright and annoying white LED on and off and ON and OFF over and over. At first we thought it was lightning, but then realized it was the damn LED motion light. PLEASE, please have more consideration for your patrons and put tape over the light or change the settings. My favorite Mediterranean place is Raleigh! The food here is delicious and fresh. Since you're reading this, Charlie's Kabob Grill is also amazing! But back to the review: I love the food here and the fresh baked pita bread! We usually get the kabob platter with kafta and steak (15.99) with two sides: tabouli and hummus. The platter comes with rice and some toum (garlic paste) but we like to order an extra one (try dipping the pita in the garlic paste!). We love the hot and fresh pita bread, right out of the oven. It can get very busy but usually it's quick service. You order at the counter, pay, get a number, get a table and they'll bring your food to your table. I love Sassool and I can literally eat here daily. I enjoy the salmon burger, kale salad and rice. I don't believe there is anything on the menu that I dislike. I've enjoyed the lamb, stuff dates and baklava as well. The staff here are always rushing, so it's easy to be overlooked if you're not approaching and immediately giving an order. The space is always nice and clean. I always find a clean table and the restaurant is well lit. It is loud in here but once you take the first bite from your food you'll never notice. Placed an order (over $100), tipped 15%, picked it up, drove 45 minutes for a Father's Day lunch celebration and the main course was left out. Horrific service. We waited for takeout for over 15 minutes and we waited patiently the whole time and didn't say a word. When we finally went to ask for some sort of an update, we were met with a very aggressive manager, who first told us we need to stand back behind the taped line on the floor and then told us we need to have a "more" patience. We had not said a word or even asked for a status update before she told us we needed to have "more" patience. Then when we asked for a manager ( who it turned out this very rude person happened to be ) and she refused to see us. The person who helped us directed us to a man who we explained to and immediately got aggressive with us and told us "yeah 15 to 20 minutes is what it takes". Unless the owner's address this I definitely will never be back there and could not recommend it to anyone. read more

This is one of my favorite lunch spots to stop by. This is a place where I love the kebabs, but I wouldn't suggest getting the sandwich options that they have. The kebabs and the sides are where they really shine and you can appreciate all the flavor. They have some really great cold and hot sides and their desserts are amazing. I love the baba ghanoush and always get it with olives and oil. It feels like you're in a gas station shop the way that it is set up, but it is really good food for a great price. Four stars with a lot of reservations. I ONLY get the pick four platter -- 3 cold sides and 1 hot one. I never order anything that has to be prepared by the kitchen. So, this review is based on a long history of ordering straight from the deli line. I can say this. It is usually pretty consistent. Sometimes things are a little too sour, but I think that might just be due to seasonal variations in the citrus. I will say that the food is often a little too bland. I have been adding salt and pepper, which does actually make a tremendous difference. The ratatouille is my go to hot side. It's not as good as a rival's ratatouille. It's more like stewed vegetables. But, it does please me nonetheless. If I could give this place a 3.5, I totally would. I just think 3 isn't fair. I think 4 is a little too generous. I do find the food to have a certain quality. It's clean, it sticks to your ribs, and in general I feel pretty good after eating it. I loved the ambience when I walked in. I liked checking out the grocery store section and then going to the other side of the restaurant and ordering hot food. The food I ordered was delicious and because of Dine In The 919 event, I was able to try FOUR sides for $9.19. That's hard to beat! Too bad entrees don't qualify for the pick 4. I really wanted to try the Vegetarian Lasagna and it's at the top of my list of things to try next time. The staff was nice and let me sample sides that I was unsure of (i.e the sweet potato hummus). I haven't been to Sassool in a while so I was excited that they were one of the participating restaurant in the #Dineinthe919 deals. This was my first time at this particular location. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with other businesses that share the parking lot. The restaurant is large and has several tables for those that chose to dine in. I came during lunch time and there were several people dining in and in the line waiting to be served. The line moved fairly quickly. Once I got up to counter I asked the employee if she needed to see my check in for the deal. She responded I guess so. I checked in while standing in front of her and showed her the check in deal. She looked at it with a confused looked for an extended period of time without saying anything so I asked was she familiar with the deal and she did not respond. I asked her a couple more times & she finally said I am waiting for you to tell me what you want. I told her the four items that I wanted for my sampler. The items were displayed in a glass display with labels for the sides. I chose the fatoosh, a corn salad, tabouleh, and the Mediterranean chicken. When I got to the cash register I showed the cashier the deal and he seemed a little confused as well. He later gave me a cup for the self serve fountain drinks that offered juice and soda. The cup was a nice size. He also gave me pita bread. Prior to checking me out he asked me again how much the meal should be. Overall the food was really good and tasted fresh. The Mediterranean chicken and the corn salad were my favorite. The pita bread was good and soft. read more
