I have been a LONG time customer at Tally Ho, but nothing outside of grabbing a few drinks during the weekends. Recently Tally has become a franchise to Mac Mart, an AMAZING macaroni and cheese spot in Philadelphia. The mac and cheese was well worth the hour long drive to Philadelphia, but the fact it's now within 5 minute drive away is amazing. I haven't had Mac Mart for the past few years so I nervous how it'd be at a new location - It tasted just as good as i remembered, you can really tell how passionate they are about the product. Seth served us and he was amazing! Very friendly and super helpful. Consistently checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our food and taken care of. Jamie also checked on us too and he was super friendly as well. Cant wait to visit again! read more

This is pretty much a dive of the dive-est bars. It's extremely dirty. There is bugs and cockroaches. The bathrooms are disgusting. The bartenders are extremely rude. I definitely don't recommend eating here. You'll probably get sick. This place should be shut down a decade ago. read more

This Ho has changed. We used to go there every Wednesday night and some Saturdays about a decade ago. Then the violence started creeping in and a friend of mine was mugged leaving late while walking to his car. I think the owners mean well it just hasn't panned out in the last few years. Plus the location is not exactly an ideal spot. I remember we first slowly stopped going when they began ticketing people for parking in the CVS/Rite Aid parking lot which is directly behind The Ho. I literally parked my car there for YEARS, like 8 years every week and never had an issue. So did everyone else - until one night we all came out to see tickets on our cars. So that was part of it. Then they began pattting down and wanding you to get in. While I understand why, that makes me think THEY are worried about something happening. I still want to go back as its been so long. After going there every week for a nearly a decade, I haven't been back since around 2016. I don't know why. BEST WAY I CAN PUT IT: the atmosphere began to change and we stopped going. There's some sort of uneasieness, anxiety - a "heaviness" in the air if you will, laced with a hint of despair or something. DOES ANYONE ELSE READING THIS KNOW WHAT I MEAN? If you do please let me/us know. It's hard to describe; I don't know if those are the correct words. I just know something has changed. Maybe I have changed - maybe WE have changed. I went to Tally Ho for Halloween weekend. The service on the whole was not bad, the bartenders were really nice and quick. However, one of the bouncers must have been on a power trip or drugs or something. There is a single stall in the women's bathroom, so naturally there is going to be a line. All of the ladies in the line were annoyed about the wait but oh well, what are you gonna do? ‍ this one male bouncer, who apparently only started working here a week ago, came over and threatened to kick the whole line of women out because we were "taking too long" and the line wasn't moving to his liking. I'm sorry, maybe provide more than one toilet for women if you don't like the line??? The guy was an asshole, plain and simple. I won't be coming back here and I wouldn't recommend this bar to any of my friends. He ruined the vibe of the whole night. read more

This place used to be awesome. Went on a Thursday night no one was there. It was completely empty. The first two beers I ordered were out of tap which I couldn't believe. But I finally got a beer. Being a Lehigh grad I've drank at the Tally Ho many a time, but realized yesterday this was my first time actually eating here. I ordered the drunken chili which came out with lots of melted cheese and sour cream. Next I had the crab quesadilla. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. It had good taste and lots of crab. I have my hubby the jalapeño slaw as it had too much kick for me but he loved it. I would definitely return. read more

the drinks and the bar tenders have been quite pleasant, but if you're a woman dont even bother making your way to this bar. there is ONE stall for the womens room, and heaven forbid you have to use the bathroom and there is a line. one of the male employees gave a load of problems to the whole line of women waiting to use then bathroom when we cannot help the fact that we have to use their facilities. maybe provide more than one stall to use and there wont be a line. why give people a problem when the problem lies within the business itself? read more

This is a divey, kinda grimy bar with a deck that plays some random-but-generally-decent music, like Fall Out Boy and Usher. I was here during a St. Patty's bar crawl with a large group, and the bartenders handled themselves well. I have a lot of complaints about this place, so settle in. 1) worst bar in Bethlehem. Dirty, full of smoke and smells like ass. 2) Bouncers are total assholes. One of them wouldn't let my friend in because he was wearing shorts and a tshirt. It's hilarious that they think they're an esteemed bar. The "Ho" was a favorite hang out for my friends and I until we discovered that the bartenders are not only making weak drinks, but they are rude. The place at one time had an interesting decor/theme but now it's run down and dirty. It is definitely a college bar which if you're into that then go and enjoy. The one and only reason the Ho gets 2 stars is because it's a smoking bar. It would get 4 if it weren't. Great beer selection and conveniently located just a few blocks from my boyfriend's place. Great food, better beer, fun atmosphere (college bar), nice deck, and almost daily events from karaoke to quizzo. If you're adventurous, definitely try for the centennial club. You get a sheet with 100 numbers on it and you have to try 1 beer from 100 different breweries. Once you've covered all 100, you get a sweet mug that they'll [eventually] get engraved with whatever you want on it. Over the course of the 100 beers, you spend about $500+ but once you get the mug, you get $1 off every beer henceforth served in the mug. Definitely for adventurous drinkers. Heard the record was 1 week to finish it; homeboy was there everyday. Crazy. Good cheap food, too. Quesadillas are huge and delicious, tacos on flatbread are very yummy, many burger choices. I totally agree with Mike M. when he said "a frat house basement--complete with spilled beer smell." I had a co-worker who for some reason LOVED this place which use to be a block from my house. I really enjoy getting together with my friends and having a nice night out with beer and greasy bar food. But when the choice was to go here I would only stay for about an hour. That was all I could take. For me, going to "the Ho" as they call it (love that name by the way) was entering a big sausage fest. It's a lot of Lehigh college guys wearing their best baseball caps and girls that barely have any clothes on. It has a weird beer smell and you can't really move comfortably to get to the bar to order a beer. But some people might enjoy that type of atmosphere! I tend to like a more neighborhood, laid back bar without beer stench lingering in the air. ps. If you do decide to go this lovely establishment you can park a block up in Lehigh's Human Resource lot. There are usually tons of spaces but they are hidden in the back more behind the building. read more

This place has really gone downhill. It was never terribly impressive, but it used to be a good cheap place to drink and hang out with your friends. In the past few years it has become even more disgusting (it was always a little gross) and the crowd of people that go there is just awful. It is no longer the Lehigh hangout that it once was - it is being infiltrated by the terrible neighborhood that surrounds it, so much so that there are frequently police officers on duty there. It's alright during the day - the food is decent and inexpensive and the unappealing crowd doesn't roll in until later on in the night. read more

"The Ho" as it is affectionately called is great. It seems like it is a small place when it's crowded, but actually has 3 rooms, a patio, and 3 different bars. There is a main bar and dining room with semi-private booths, a patio with its own bar (only downside is it closes an hour early), a dining room used for karaoke and the like at night, and a dance room with another, smaller bar. The food is great - although I've only been there early enough to enjoy it once. Beer choices are seemingly endless, and we all know we love their $1 well drink Wednesday nights. I am not a Lehigh student, so I cannot rate as to the quality or "mix" of the crowd 9 months out of the year. But, I am of college age - so when I go when I come from home from school from May to August, I go to the Ho. It is always a good crowd and I've never witnessed anything go on there that shouldn't have. The staff is friendly, just seemed a bit rushed and even a bit understaffed on busy nights. All in all, one of Bethlehem's better dive bars. (P.S. The place is a DIVE BAR - expect it to be a bit of a dump.) read more

The Ho was a University staple for people in my era. They for a time - way back when - were more lax about serving minors but not so any mroe -s o bring a REAL id. Food is just bar food and drinks were cheap and plentiful. Many nights of debauchery either began or ended at the Ho. read more

I like the Ho because of their beer selection, which is better than the usual selection at most of the local bars. The food is good, but the service is lacking. My hubby & I went there for their chili & fajitas, which were EXTREMELY filling (better fajitas than @ Jack Creek), but the place could be cleaner. We usually just go for a few beers & eat somewhere else. Avoid on Friday or Saturday nights unless you are ABSOLUTELY into the loud, college crowd & smoky atmosphere. read more

It's alright. They have $5 fajitas every Monday, which is amazing. It's good for a cheap dinner and a beer. Don't go there with your family, though. Definitely a younger crowd area. The Ho is a fun place to go if you're looking to try a lot of different beers--they've got somewhere around 40 on tap, with even more in bottles. I tend not to go here too often, as it's often very smokey. I've had burgers here on 2 occasions, and they're pretty good. I haven't tried the other food. When the place is crowded, it's almost impossible to move around due to how the place is set up, and the booths are pretty cramped. read more

Upon visiting Bethlehem on the day before Christmas, we were starving after we visited the Putz and Christmas markets. We drove to the Steel stacks side of town since we were planning on seeing that side of the town in the PM and there were barely anything open! :( We sat down in one of the many wooden booths that definitely looked like it had seen better days. But personally, i loved the weathered vibe and the aged look of the bar. It feels like one of those dumpy bars that you go hang out at. We ordered a side of gravy fries with melted mozzarella as starter for sharing and each got a burger. The Cubano was ridiculously large. It had fried pickles, shredded pork, a burger patty, and melted cheese. My patty was a bit overcooked but aside from that it was a pretty damn good burger that totally gave me a food coma. A favorite with nearby Lehigh University Students, the Ho is your typical pub atmosphere, with a bit of a dance hall twist. Food is reasonable, and decent, but nothing special. They have an adjacent, albeit small, room to the main restaurant/bar area where they host various groups, and also have DJ dancing nights. read more

I love this place I've been going here ever since I turned 21. The only problem is it can get a little overcrowded and hard to maneuver if it's super busy. The bartenders try their best to get to everyone, the security guys are super buff but are very nice so long you don't piss them off lol. Has anyone read the PA state health report/inspection on this place? It has 12 violations and is non-compliant. Green slime in the ice maker, roaches, unsanitary cutting boards, flies and insects in the liquor bottles. Just to name a few violations.The one bartender has no personality and a newt probably has more. Dirty with health code violations...if I was 20 something and looking to score Lehigh chicks, then this would be a good start, as I wouldn't care about the smell and the dirt. I'm in grad school and the Ho used to be the department jam. All of the people older than me have about a million stories about long, crazy nights spent in carved-up booths... But the Ho seems to be a shell of what it probably was. And that kept me away for a long time. I've been there and seen the gleaming array of tap handles, lusting after a Victory or a Troeg's or even a Sam Adams, and been told that all the kegs have kicked. They have Lager and Miller Lite. Time to man up? I think not. Do i want to sit out on the patio and be accosted by Bud Light with Lime girls? No, i really truly don't. And yet, there's something redeeming going on here. Much like other dives, the awful stuff that sucks about it somehow transmutes into something magic. I don't mind that it isn't a Lehigh hangout anymore - that's my least favorite part about lots of bars on the South Side. I don't mind not having good beer, so long as i don't EXPECT it anymore. I don't mind a smoky bar a--oh wait, smoke? really? you can smoke here!? The fans are so good most of the time you can actually dodge the smoking! And when karaoke starts and some seriously cheesy dudes get up there and sign up for seriously cheesy stuff like 10 times in a row, i just clutch my lager and smile. Because it's an adventure. The idea that the neighborhood that surrounds it is "terrible" is fucking laughable. But then again, i'm happy Lehigh kids are avoiding it, at this point. Hopefully they'll get a better DJ and i'll be able to dance my ass off (right now nobody seems to want to on Friday nights) with all of the "terrible" people. read more

Either I'm getting older or the place looks a lot more run down. I remember going here when I was a Lehigh student but was it always this dingy and dirty feeling? Almost as if you don't want to touch the menus and you look at the silverware suspiciously? The food isn't super cheap anymore. The beer wasn't quite as cold as I'd like. The wings were still good though. The service was alright. I guess a lot of my feelings are colored by the fact that I couldn't quite identify the smell in the bar area. But it certainly gave my stomach a turn. Perhaps terrible cigars? It is a smoking establishment. It's a college bar. It has that weathered old look that makes Lehigh culture feel like Lehigh culture. Some of that might be just my own nostalgia. The Ho is a place of memories. And people are still probably making their own memories on weekend nights there! "The Ho" has such a legendary tradition as "The Lehigh Bar" - long before McGrady's came along, BUT with the somewhat recent change in ownership in 2012/2013 - its rapidly losing it's dive bar charm due to complete neglect. The outdoor deck was always a great spot, but it's so decrepit, you really have to think about what's going on in the kitchen - and I'm serious. Outside, spindles are missing from the railing, tiles falling off the bar, paint peeling off the wallthe plastic chairs have broken backs - great way to crack you head open, even sober. Service is friendly, but I think the owner owes it to Bethlehem, the Lehigh community and its patrons to clean it up inside and out. read more

I've come here twice so far, both times were off nights during dinner time, so it wasn't busy. Beer specials were excellent, ($6 for Shock Top pitcher) and the food is surprisingly good and priced well considering what you'd expect by the look of this place. Staff is really knowledgeable on menu items, fast and friendly. Will be going back for dinner, and sometime I'll get around to trying it at night with the bar crowd. read more
