Tapas were pretty good here but has tourist prices, and bad service. Definitely get the sangria though. I would recommend: - potatas bravas: delicious with garlic mayo and paprika sauce - sizzling prawns with garlic, chili, and mountain herbs -deep fried cod I wouldn't recommend: - the bread with tomato sauce: the waitress asked if we wanted bread, and I thought since it's pushed/ recommended, maybe it's the thing to get. Nope, it was not good. There's no tipping here in Barcelona, so maybe that's what explains the impatience and rush while we were ordering. Stop 2 of our Trip Advisor Tapas tour. We were feeling good after Stop 1, but that didn't stop us. Instead of sangria we had at Stop 1, here we got a bottle of Spanish Red, which was great. The short: a good option for tapas in the area. The food is fresh, the service was fast and there's an English translated menu. The longer: It was Christmas Day, so super limited food options open. We popped in here after walking around. We shared mushrooms, lightly fried eggplant drizzled with honey (amazing!), little squid, some tomato bread, but the true star of the show was the cannelloni pasta dish. The waitress explained that this was a traditional Christmas dish, and honestly, I could've eaten five plates of just that pasta. Unreal. There's a few of these restaurants across Barcelona, and even though I don't normally love chains, I would recommend this spot. :) read more

5.4.17: Not what I expected at all. Recommended by our airbnb host. This place is definitely "Tourist Price" and just okay. We end up getting the fish, potatoes, and octopus ceviche. The fish was fried and had no seasoning. The potatoes was just french fries with sausage. I wish they had a better translation, I definitely would not have ordered if it was french fries. Last the Octopus Ceviche definitely left me wanting more seasoning, better texture, better flavor, and so forth. The service was great and they were really nice. The restaurant is cute and definitely has ac. Not bad if you're close by but I expected more. read more

There are a few of these little restaurants throughout Barcelona. This one is located near the Palau de la Musica. We tried the one on Las Ramblas too and it wasn't as good as this location. Anyway, we ordered only three items: Patatas Bravas, Pan con Tomate, and fried small fish, in which I can't at the moment remember its' name. Oh, and of course beer and sangria. Sangria in Barcelona is the best I've ever had. All the items we ordered were so good and cooked to perfection. Simple ingredients done right. I definitely recommend this place if you visit Barcelona. read more

Lovely place! Really efficient service and the tapas were simply yummy! I loved every dish even the tomato rubbed bread! I was with a bigger group and as soon as we sat down, the restaurant brought us each a glass of cava- on the house! Definitely felt welcomed and made me feel so happy to be there. I do want to especially call out the garlic shrimp- Gambas al ajilo: the shrimp was fresh and so nicely sizzling in the garlic oil... The garlic pieces were nicely fried and while I am typically fearful of having the garlic odor linger, these garlic pieces were prepared right that the pungent odor transformed into salivating inducing aroma! Loved! The place is nestled in the Born and very close proximity to the Picasso museum and within a 5 minute walk from the barcelona cathedral. I'd go back if I ever return to Barcelona! read more

The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and is nicely decorated. We were were seated right away but were there on the earlier side of 'dinner' time--around 7 pm. We had a few tapas and thought they were good but the portions small considering the prices. Would go again to have the cava. Loved the cava sangria! We had just gotten off of a 10 hour flight and taken the bus into town. Needless to say we were hungry, and this was one of the first places we came across. They had a very welcoming look while walking by, so we came in to a very welcoming interior as well. Waiters were nice and gave us a minute to get situated with our luggage. We looked at the menu and decided to try a few of what we were told are staples of the Spanish tapas menu along with a bottle of cava. We ordered the chorizo, croquetas, patatas bravas, toast with tomato and shrimp. All looked fairly run of the mill pub food, but it was a great way to start our trip. Definitely not the best of those same dishes we tried, but pretty good. They were much more generous with the mayonnaise on the patatas bravas than I would have expected, even now after trying it throughout Spain. Overall the food is more of a 3/5 but the service was fantastic. It was a great intro to the world of Spanish food. read more

We came here after catching a concert at the Palau de Musica just down the street. I had Googled the place to make a reservation but Google gave me the address for the one on Plaça Sant Josep Oriol, so I ended up making the reservation on the wrong place. No fear as there were a couple of tables open by the time we got there around 10:30 PM. As mentioned in the other review the tables are very close to each other so it was a bit awkward, although at least we only had a table on one side. They had a tasting menu but up to that point we had our fill of the dishes they were offering in the tasting menu so we decided against it, even if at 25 euros including drink and dessert it was a good deal We got the Padron peppers (delicious although they were a bit too heavy-handed with the sea salt they added at the end), a casserole of razor clams, small white clams, prawns steamed in white wine (delicious and fresh), grilled cuttlefish (amazing), prawns with garlic and sausage with beans. The sausage dish came last and it was very heavy and oily so we decided to get a crema catalana (similar to creme brulee but with a consistency of cream of wheat). Service was efficient although the waiter was kind of quiet (even though we spoke to him in Spanish). Taller de Tapas may not be the hottest ticket in town but for a great meal at good prices in a casual environment I would recommend this place. read more

Taller de Tapas was recommended by our hotel concierge, and we had a great meal from beginning to end. The server's name was Andrea. She spoke a little English, and I spoke a little Spanish, so we got along great. We went with the prix fixe menu of the day which included a few different tapas dishes, sangria, and dessert. The cider chorizos were phenomenal, and I've unsuccessfully tried to replicate the spicy mayo from the potatoes bravas several times now. So good. The prices were reasonable. The only complaint I have is that the tables were very close to each other. I felt like I was intruding on my neighbors' conversations every time I opened my mouth. On our way out, the manager asked us to check his English on the menu out front. I thought it was nice of him to care about the non-Spanish speakers. I really wanted to like this place. On paper it looked great! Excellent rating on Yelp, extremely close to my hotel, trip advisor sticker in the window, decent decor, plenty of people inside (though not full by any means)... And friendly staff. So why only 2 stars? Well, I wrote the other day about a taps place that I thought was expensive, but at least the food was good. This place felt expensive too. Admittedly I did order more dishes, but they were smaller and I ended up paying about 35 euros. The problem was the foot just wasn't very good. I had a beer from the tap that felt watered down. The Russian salad had tuna in it, quite odd for a Russian salad, but it was fairly tasty so ok. The chipirones had hardly any batter on them and some tasted really weird... But the worst thing was the octopus. I normally love octopus, but this was terrible. It was super oily and super salty. The saltiest food I ever ate. It was so salty that the beer started to taste funny because of the extreme saltiness of the food. I really hope it was a one-off bad day for the chef or something, as the staff were really nice! But I can still taste the salt in my mouth 2 hours later :( read more

When I was reunited with my family in Barcelona, we selected this place as our first dining experience. The staff were super friendly and provided English menus upon discovering our Spanish level was beginner to none. For starters, we ordered two pitchers of sangria and a variety of platters to share among one another (the calamari is a must!). We arrived a little late at night (10:30 pm) which wasn't out of the ordinary for anywhere else we visited in Barcelona. They welcomed us in warmly, but then we felt very pressured to pick our dinner quickly. Not the experience we'd had anywhere else. So, we decided quickly on our initial Tapas and after getting them were informed that they were closing in 15 minutes and it was too late to order more.
