Talin is literally THE BEST hairstylist ever. I see her regularly each month for months now and have always been happy. I am a natural red head but with Talin's expertise, am a perfect blond. She has done various short pixie hairstyles on me and I am constantly getting compliments from others on my hair color and cut. And compliments in the very critical LA world I live in, are hard to come by! I've had short asymmetrical extensions with her as well. And they were perfect for a change of style (since I bore easily with the same hair, no matter how beautiful). So far, there's been nothing she can't do. And in addition to keeping my hair looking awesome, she always makes sure it's healthy and conditioned. She loves hair, and it shows. I was looking for a salon for extensions 3yrs ago (my hair was damaged at a previous salon, my hair broke off and it was so short and brittle) and I found THE best one. My hair Doctor, Talin is an amazing hair dresser. Before she attempts to do your hair, she makes sure that your hair can withstand extensions and also the correct dye and bleaching. She will not attempt to do things on our hair if she sees that her hair will break or won't take the color or it's just not acceptable for the services she does.. that's what you want out of a hairdresser. Don't go there ... This is a real review ... not a review from profiles that have ONLY one or two reviews like most of the reviews for this called Talin ... I have even a proof for my words here which you can find in the photos: a receipt of this old lady charging us for $240 for only coloring my wife's hair, and cutting the edges ONLY!! (Not to mention this price is under a discount according to her!!!) We walked to her place based on these reviews, I thought this lady would be professional. I would like to mention that my wife's mother have two hair shops in our home city, so my wife can tell after years of working there if she is a professional or not ... Well: Definitely NOT!! We started at 4:30 PM, and we ended at 9:20 PM. We showed her an old photo of my wife that was taken two years ago, and she couldn't even do 20% of what she was told to do!!!! She tried to strengthen the color two times, but really I don't know why she took this long for my wife who had her hair done two months ago from our last visit to our home city. After these long hours, she charged us $240, which said it is FAIRLY GOOD for coloring the hair and cutting the edges (She said the cutting only was was $80)!!! I paid without hesitation because it was something for my wife, and that it was our first time in LA entering a hair salon (we are newly married). A woman can tell when her hair wasn't done properly, and this is the feelings of my wife now. After two months from our visit, we found after asking our friends in LA that this woman (Talin) cheated on us and charged us away more than the regular price. She was even very generous to herself!!! I don't care about the money really, but I care about honest and goodness: this Talin wasn't honest at all, she even wasn't grateful when she told me while I was paying her: You know Mr.T, this price is too fare!!! I didn't charge you for after hours operation (overtime) which hair salons charge most of the times, in addition: this price is at 20% discount!!! She even told me this without any words from me complaining or speaking about the price, as if she was trying to justify her irregular price and behavior!! I was very respectful and didn't replay to her indecent words ... But what I can say: !!!!! What a rip off and disgrace!!! PS.1: One of the reviews (that has two reviews only!!!) is saying that he has been with Talin for over two years ... SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAS BEEN WORKING HERE FOR 11 months ONLY!!!! PS.2: I noticed from the reviews below that some of them are profiles with only one or two reviews, and all the reviews are made for only Talin, ignoring two or three of her co-workers ... I leave you the comment!!! ------------------ Update to replay: Talin ... I genuinely didn't go through your whole response because it's too looooooong ... you don't have to accept my opinion ... It is a review that is directed to yelp readers who have their own judgments and choices ... (I believe some people did like it as there are many likes and cools thumbs) ... It's a review based on experience which is strengthened with a proof (receipt) that can be found in pics ... It is very pathetic that you decided to go through my whole reviews trying to defend yourself, as that really not of your business ... I have been going to Talin for my haircuts for 5-6 years now. As a trial attorney who is constantly in front of members of the public, I put a lot of importance into having a good haircut. It has to be conservative and reflect care and competence. In addition, as a single man enmeshed in LA's dating scene, I need a haircut that helps me look stylish and attractive. Talin accomplishes both of these goals so effectively and leaves me feeling so confident in my hair that even when I lived in Orange County I would drive for an hour each way to Pasadena just to have her cut my hair. Not only is she a great stylist, but Talin is very fun to hang out with. The 30 minutes or so that I spend in her chair each month is a time I look forward to. Great hairstylists are like unicorns. You only hear about them in stories, but you yourself have never witnessed one. I, Yulree, can say that I not only met one but got to personally experience her awesome hair cutting skills. I think what sets her apart from the other stylists I've had in the past is that she LISTENS. She hears you and stays on the conservative side unless you really adamantly tell her to go wild on your hair. I like that. It's better to cut less than to cut way too much, right? When I came to Talin I was coming off of several difficult experiences with excellent colorists who tried their best to deal with my grey hair , which was resistant to color. The people who tried before Talin either couldn't get the color to hold, ended up with a brassy or bleached appearance, or made it so dark that I had to deal with frequent and expensive roots. In contrast, Talin worked with me to find just the right natural-looking tone!! Now I get SO many compliments on my hair. I had a Coppola Keratin treatment, color and cut with Talin a couple of months ago and feel she did an excellent job and was a consummate professional -- she clearly knows her trade! I love the color job she did, too. She was very sensitive to my desire not have "orangey" highlights and so put a toner in (which no stylist has ever done before) to tame the color and make it look more like a natural blonde color. The Coppola treatment was a bit disappointing, unfortunately, because my hair was very limp and not really straight afterwards (and 8 weeks later the effects are completely gone) but in Talin's defense she set my expectations properly and took a lot of care in doing the treatment right. I would definitely recommend Talin (but not necessarily the keratin treatment) to any and all of my friends. read more
