Proceed with caution! First , let's begin with the scheduling process; Young lady with very little interpersonal communication skill set who actually over commits ie over schedules, and commits to services they do not have the correct products. Well, without text evidence, I would have questioned my own sanity. Apparently it is also acceptable practice for them to cancel at the last minute... And here 's the cherry on top... It is common practice to overcharge for procedures that they did not even complete, example; I paid for root bleaching and toner, but obviously I received the bleach without toner which is clearly indicated in the color discrepancy; white bleach roots and Light golden blonde length. It's not worth time or money. Clearly they did not have a matching toner but committed to and charged for it anyway. The stylist informed me she did not have a matching toner after I pointed out that the roots only have bleach. Such an insult!! I asked for a refund for the toner that I was charged for after going back-and-forth with the supervisor and her offer was no apology But to argue with me for about thirty minutes claiming that they did put on the toner. She finally snapped at me and said, " what do you want from us?"...I stated that I would like them to purchase the correct toner and finish the work .However, after talking with my family I have decided that returning to their business is not in my best interest. In the end, they denied a refund for the wrongfully charged toner. Crickets! read more

To start from the beginning, I received an email in regards to a promotion about a free haircut with any color. I called the front desk and I asked for her to book me with someone who has lots of experience with highlighting dark hair, because I wanted a balayage. She said she'd set me up with someone great. I went in and was scheduled to see Tanya for my hair. I sat down with Tanya and expressed that I wanted to go from dark brown hair to having a golden/blond-ish balayage. She had a hesitant demeanor about going lighter on me, but said that she would do her best to get me there. I also asked for highlights in the front, which I feel like is very common, but she then said no and that I needed (my already long hair) to grow out some more. So, I just said okay. Anyway, at the end of that appointment, it was fine. She blow dried my hair, and it looked great color wise. I would have liked it to be lighter but she reassured me that it would get lighter in time naturally. The only thing I noticed was that the highlights in the front part was choppy.. but it wasn't a major problem, or maybe I just tried not to overreact - idk. At the end, that cost me $250.00. Tanya then went on to say that I needed to come in every 4-6 weeks to get my hair toned so it wouldn't get brassy looking, so I made an appointment to see her 6 weeks later. 6 weeks later, my hair had gotten lighter like I had wanted, but I went in on a Saturday and asked if the gloss was necessary because I liked the color already, and that the only thing that needed to be fixed were the front hairs which was did not flow like the rest of my hair. The color was so chopped in front. Tanya said I def needed a toner, and that she would fix the front. So that was that. Toned, and washed, and she didn't have time for a blow-dry. (even though the receptionist told me that I would be able to get it, but whatever, again, I didn't overreact). I got home that night and fixed up my hair and realized all the blonde that I initially went in for was GONE. I had dark brown hair with light brown highlights. I called the following day (Sun) and asked to speak with Tanya but the receptionist said she was with a client. So I left a message and told her that I was not happy with the color and the receptionist assured me that either Tanya would call me or she (the receptionist) would call me back. Maybe it was too soon to call and I should have waited for the toner to wash out, but I wanted to ask Tanya questions and go over my concerns with her. It's been 5 days since the Saturday that I got my hair toned and it's gotten lighter since the day I got it toned, but it's still darker than what I wanted/initially got, and def not the the golden balayage that I wanted. 5 days and almost $400 out of my bank account later, still no call. So frustrating. I will never go back. At least call the client back!!!! read more

Here at Brenton, I trust Angela Le, she listens to what you want and really cares about your concerns.. For example, if you are a low maintenance type of girl she would not recommend you to color your hair drastically because she's looking out for you and that hair. surprise honey boo boo, roots are not cute. her blending is amazing, i hate those obvious and contrasted chunky strips of high lights (what are we in the 1990's)? She knows how to make your blonde ashy, because let's face it my (asian) girls, nobody likes orange hair. She's really good at giving you that ideal haircut! I referred a friend here and she said it was the BEST haircut she's ever had. When i got my hair cut, i was kind of skeptical at first. like what the hell, that literally took like 5 minutes.... is Angela just cutting corners..... but when i got home, i realized i REALLY like my hair cut! she just happened to be really fast and knew exactly what she was going to do. My hair is really damaged and she makes sure my hair looks healthy when i'm stepping out, stringy damaged hair is so gross, but after Angela takes care of it, it's nice and full of life! gotta love it. On my previous review, it was for my experience with my hairstylist. This is the review about my experience with the salon. Brenton Lee Salon has basically a similar set up as Salon Sessions--clean, trendy, but has an added value of convenience now that it's in South Pasadena compared to Salon Sessions' location in Old Pasadena. You can always find parking on the street, but it says "2 hour parking." If you are unlucky, you will get ticketed. It kind of stinks that they do not have a parking lot because you have to be aware of whether your tires are marked by parking enforcement. If you're getting highlights and haircut, it'll be at least 2.5 hrs. This salon uses high quality products, especially the color dye because my highlights never turn into that orangy-hue that you get after several washes. Other places that use cheaper brands make your hair turn orange (yuck). As for the products they sell, it is limited. They have Kerastase and Oribe, but I wish they also carried Bumble too like at. Salon Sessions. As for their front desk staff service, it is a hit or miss. I come here about every few months and each time there is someone new at the front desk. They ask you what you'd like to drink when you're waiting before your hairstylist comes and gets you, but 50% of the time, they forget about you and your drink. They also make mistakes with charging the incorrect price on your card when you want to use the Yelp check in discount or the Customer Loyalty card discount so you have multiple papers of receipts and voids of receipts by the time you walk out of there. This has happened to me at least twice the past year of coming here. It would just be helpful if they had the front desk staff trained better. read more

I was in a desperate need for a root touch up. I found the Brenton Lee salon on yelp. I was set up to see Melody on Saturday afternoon. In walks in this statuesque woman who was obviously very pregnant. LOL! I haven't been to a more caring individual in a long time. While Melody had some assistance from coworkers she was not satisfied until the color was perfect. I would not hesitate to go back to Melody and the Brenton Lee salon. Thank you thank you Angela Le! I somehow managed to snag an appointment last minute with her for today and I'm so glad I did. I found the salon on yelp and while looking through the reviews noticed that a friend of mine also came to her! (Ruthie). And after seeing her work in the photos I was willing to give her a chance. I am Asian and have been bleaching my thick black hair for 3 months. My previous hair stylist was very rough with my hair. And although the color turned out much better than I expected, my hair suffered severely. Fast forward 3 months to today: I wanted a natural way for my black roots to grow out. A reverse ombré. And Angela and her assistant did that and more. Throughout the entire 5 hours, they not only focused on attaining the right color consistency and blend, they also made sure to rejuvenate my hair; teaching me along the way how to continue doing that at home as well. They were very professional and took great care of my hair. I couldn't keep my eyes off of them as they worked! The atmosphere was relaxed and attentive. I was surprised to find local cafés come in and offer yummy food for us hungry clients. (Best organic fruit salad ever) I am so happy to have found Angela. She is sweet and quick to understand what you want. I'm pretty sure I wasn't great at explaining - but she got it right away - from the color, blend, length, style. I highly recommend going to this salon. As it was my first time today, I had a little trouble finding parking, (they have around 10 spots right behind the Salon) but I just parked in the Bank of America parking lot as it didn't have signs threatening to tow. I was searching for my stylist soulmate for a very long time and finally found her at the Brenton Lee Salon! Every time I visit, I leave a happy, smiling, satisfied customer! Angela Le is truly AMAZING with color! She really is an expert at what she does. She actually listens to what you really want (2 inches always means 2 inches, not 4!), while keeping the integrity and health of your hair. She is up to date with the trends and did balayage on me years before ombre was even a thing. I definitely recommend booking her, you will love your hair! The salon also carries the full Oribe line which is my favorite. If you haven't tried it, you will fall in love once they use it on you in the salon. I've been wanting to make a Yelp account for while now but I've never gotten to it, but after getting my hair done at Brenton Lee Salon I just had to make one! I came in and saw Rain. It was my first time coloring my hair and I didn't really know what I wanted. But we talked about it and we ended up going with a balayage. She also gave me a great head and neck massage. My ends also needed some saving so she trimmed those, gave me some layers and I got a bomb blowout. Color looks amazing! The front desk girl was super cute and offered me drinks, they even have wine and sangria. The whole salon had a great vibe and cool music. I noticed they even do facial waxing!? I'll be back to get my eyebrows done. I'm bummed I won't be able to come back as often as I would like, since I'm just visiting. For most salons, you should leave feeling like a million bucks. And I felt pretty close to it, however the only thing that really gets me is that it is so expensive. I've been to other salons that were more reasonable priced, but you do get what you pay for. My two best friends and I decided to check out this place, all looking to highlight, balayage ombre, and cut. I paid $136 (with a promotional value that included the haircut) for a balayage ombre. The color turned out nicely but not exactly what I pictured. I had ombre before so I was hoping to have a more blonder balayge ombre but instead it turned out to be really light ashy brown. Can't complain about the color because it was very well done by Tiffany but it was similar to something else. I brought in pictures but they kind of have their own vision which isn't a bad one! Going in, I knew that it would come out nice because you pay so much, but the team they have at the salon is relatively young so they tailor well to their clientele. very friendly and 3 hours or so don't go by too slow. They don't really tell you how much everything is till the end so either ask in advanced or as they do your hair or in the end you'll jaw will drop. Another paid $275 (!!!!) because they had to fix her color and got talked into a moisture treatment. She also didn't know the price until the end and was disappointed with the amount. She had long brown hair and cut it shoulder length to an ashy blonde balayage, it looked nice but for that amount I would expect my hair to have gold locks in it. And another friend had Angela who did natural brown highlights and a trim to her long dark brown hair, she paid $180. Overall, it's a good place to go and try for yourself. You won't come out dissapointed, and they will do a fabulous job. I just think I would look for cheaper alternatives. Their customer service is great though! Offers you drinks, shows you color charts for your hair (which I appreciated), called and followed up with how your experience went, and even sent me a hand written follow up thank you card, which was super sweet. read more

Just had my hair done by Sally. I love it!! I follow Sally on Instagram and decided to finally book with her. Best decision ever!! First off, booking with her was such a breeze. A couple emails back and forth and the appointment was set. I even got a call from the salon reminding me of my upcoming appointment! (Thanx!) I check-in to the salon and I'm greeted with smiles. The salon was accommodating asking if I needed anything. I didn't have to wait long for Sally called me to her station. Let me say this girl is truly an artist!! She sat me down and asked me what I wanted done. Simple cut (not too short cuz I've met a couple stylists who would just butcher your hair) and an ombré. I have been a customer of Brenton Lee Salon for two years now, and this review is long overdue. Sally does my hair and is amazing in every way possible. Two years ago I had my hair done by a friend in her kitchen (not the best idea I know) and the auburn I was thinking of turned out into a dark burgundy on my hair. I hated it. So I turned to my trusty fellow yelpers to help me find a salon that was excellent at color correction. Enter Brenton Lee.... who set me up with Sally. Sally is amazing. Just amazing, I can always trust her to listen to exactly what I want and do a better job than I even envisioned. Sally has seen me through all the colors of the (natural) rainbow, from my ashy blond natural, to my beautiful, long copper balayage that she has tweaked to long lasting perfection, and almost everything in between. I get compliments constantly on how beautiful and healthy my hair looks and its all thanks to dear Sally. I trust her implicitly with my hair, and as long as I live in the greater Los Angeles area will never go to anyone else. Aside from Sally herself the salon is wonderful, the service I receive there from the entire rest of the team is impeccable. I always receive both a phone call and an email to remind me of and confirm my appointment, and they are always very accommodating if I need to reschedule for any reason. Brenton Lee is an amazing salon. The staff are friendly and customer service is on point. I love the fact that this salon loves to educate their stylist regularly to make sure that they know the latest styles, trends, and working with different types of hair. I have been personally going to Tanya for cut, color, and styling for years and she is amazing! She knows hair and her products. If she talks about a product to you, she know what she's talking about. She believes in that specific product for your hair, which is really rare to find someone like that. Prior to finding Tanya, I used to hop through different salons, mainly Korean hair salons to get my hair cut. I was always hesitant because they ALWAYS cut shorter than what I ask for. I tell them how short and they seem to always cut more off. I've walked out of salons crying before because it was way too short and because of that Tanya is very aware in how to cut my hair. I don't have to tell her how short, she knows already and I love that! She knows her clients! I used to also have balayage, but I wanted something different. I wasn't sure whether to go dark or light. She suggested different colors that I would like and we decided on chocolate brown and now I love it! It's easy to maintain, clean, and professional. Six months ago I moved to the Pasadena area. It is always hard for me to let go of stylists bc I remain loyal to them for years until I move. I found Brenton Lee Salon on Yelp and read thoroughly through the reviews. I called to make an appointment and was booked for a clean-up trim with Rain. Our first meeting was nothing short of wonderful. Not only was she personable, she showed great attention to detail. Four months after my first visit I came back for a "drastic" cut, which for me is cutting my hair 4 inches. Clearly I am cautious when it comes to change with regard to my hair. Once again Rain did an exceptional job. At that appointment I consulted with Rain about balayage. It's a new year and I wanted an improved change. She convinced me that she can make it so that the color would blend naturally with my hair. I was sold and booked my next appointment for the following week. I came prepared with a couple photos of the color I liked so of course Rain made it happen. What would have been a scary experience with coloring my hair for the first time (at 35yo), turned out to be perfect and completely enjoyable. Shoutout thanks to James and Sara for making sure I was hydrated with chilled water, and the glass of Merlot was a wonderful additional treat. Clearly, the staff are amazing at Brenton Lee Salon. The salon is clean and stylish in decor, AND they play good music to keep you in a positive mood. Lastly, if you are looking for a gentle and detailed stylist, I highly highly recommend booking an appointment with Rain. She is all types of wonderful. I have become a serious fan after 3 visits over the course of 4 months. If you're not convinced, to add to her amazingness, Rain gives the best scalp massages during your hair wash and conditioning! I finally found a hair salon near my house that I just LOVE! All the stylists and employees are super friendly! Right when I walked into the salon, I was greeted by a super friendly receptionist! The salon was super clean and all the equipment was very up to date! I usually do not love my haircuts after an appointment (at other salons) but I definitely LOVED my haircut this time! So they totally RENEGED ON THEIR OFFER to fix my hair, claiming that they have "new management/stylists" now. Long story short: Their former stylist did a lousy coloring job, charged me $273 and wasted 7 hours of my time for my hair to go from brown... to splotchy brown.... The offer to redo my hair at no extra charge was made by the owner, head stylist and name sake of the salon... who is STILL the owner, head stylist and name sake of the salon. Amazing salon! Comfortable and trendy style on the inside, they offer a wide range of refreshments and make you feel right at home! It had been years since I went to a salon and after trimming, coloring, then bleaching, then coloring my own hair for several years, I needed help regaining my hairs former glory. And Amy did exactly that! She helped me find out what would be best for my hair to still have fun with color but not damage my hair more and even bring back its shine and body. After a fresh cut (beautifully done to get rid of my nasty split ends) color removal and a conditioning treatment, some great hair products and a new color, I am beyond satisfied! My hair is healthy and shiny and beautiful! I also got the chance to meet Brenton and he and his staff were very helpful. I visit LA twice a year from New York and two main things I do prior to my flight to LA? Call Tanya for an appointment to work her magic with my dead, no strength and damaged hair. And the second one is with my skin care which has nothing to do with this review. Anyways, one thing about me is that if I go to one stylist and got a bad vibe from her/him, you better bet you I will never come back. I'm loyal to one stylist and if I ever do change, it's because I moved to a different state or one of us died. (Joking) Tanya knows very well that I'm an impatient person/client of hers and what I really do like about her is that she values my time. I come to Tanya for her magical hands and I get luxury treatment from her. After all, we as a client pay to get what we desire right?
