I bought a groupon voucher for haircut & deep conditioning. I saw reviews of many people mentioning Gladys is amazing. So, I made an appointment for saturday, and asked if I can have gladys and they said she'll not be there? when I came in on saturday I saw her calling client? I'm not sure abt whats up with that. I had Ursula to give me a haircut. She's very nice and friendly. I asked for an oval layered cut , and I also showed her a picture. So, it started with a wash , then she started cutting my bangs, and I rlly loved it! She started cutting my hair, after 10 minutes she was done and she started drying my hair to "see the shape"and so I wasn't happy because It wasn't like the pic i showed her, the front edges was wisping outwards.. which I had never experience ever in a haifcut. And so she said, she was not done styling and layering it . Okay. And so she kept blowdrying my hair for a good 20 minutes... trying to bring the edges of my hair inwards.... my hair was super dry and she just kept on pulling it with the round brush and hot hairdryer.. Perhaps trying to actually fix the layers with the scissors would've been better? shes finally done with blowdrying & tried to fix it again, instead my hair just went shorter, when the front of my hair is still wisping outwards , she mentioned "I tried but your hair is just sooo stubborn"(I don't think blaming the customer's hair is what hairstylists would do?) and then suddenly cut my bangs... again... the first cut looked good and it turned into a disaster. Then again with the blowdrying even when my hair is clearlyy dry as a dessert... she tried to blowdry it so it would go inwards.. I appreciate her giving the effort although, it was a 20 minut of pulling and hurting already thinning hair and scalp... I felt bad, I was taking too much time bcs she was trying to squeeze in my friend for a haircut too since she had a 2pm appointment. So, I just left it like that. The receptionist was nice enough to tell me , If I don't like it I can make changes , but my hair was extremely short enough, and I don't think theres any fixing that can be done. I am writing this review not really to complaint or blame anyone but Just sharing my experience. I found 1202 Salon and Spa through Groupon. It was $58 for a cut and single hair color, which I thought was a really great deal. I chose Gladys because she had great reviews on Groupon, and I'm sure glad I did. I am very particular about my hair and have been going to the same amazing hair dresser for the past 4 years. Recently she's been too busy to squeeze me in, so after a year passed with no hair cut, I decided it was time to find someone new. The overall experience was really delightful. The Salon has a dedicated parking lot which is great. I arrived a few minutes late to my appointment and waited less than 5 mins before Gladys greeted me and brought me to her station. She asked me what I had in mind, and I had prepared a few pictures. I'm the type of person that rarely takes the time to style my hair (I'm an air-dry type of girl 360 days of the year), so I mentioned that to Gladys as well. What I really enjoyed about Gladys was she listened to my requests, but also made recommendations for what was best for me, my face shape, and how much effort I put into my daily hair routine. She's an expert in hair, and I loved her recommendations. I wanted to get my hair colored b/c I'm in my mid-30s and started to get some greys. Gladys recommended I try the gloss instead -- it looks beautiful, and blended much more naturally with my hair. After the color, she took me to the shampooing station where she gave a great head massage in addition to the shampoo and condition. Then it was the haircut. In the end, I loved my hair cut. It was nothing fancy, just trimmed off 3 inches and gave me long layers, but it was cute. She blowdried it and styled it for me, but asked me if she could also curl it. WHY YES, absolutely! I loved that she took the extra 10 minutes to curl my hair. Overall, the entire process took 2hr 15 mins. I purchased a Groupon for a haircut, deep conditioning, blow dry, and style. I have to say I am more than satisfied and will definitely be returning to the hair stylist Gladys. The receptionist are very sweet, professional, and courteous both over the phone and in person. Scheduling was done easily over the phone and when I mentioned wanting to get in ASAP they were able to squeeze me in next day. My son who is 12 came into the salon with me and was able to have water, and enjoy some candy (they had Halloween candy) well he waited. Gladys was very courteous and offered advice for my hair issues I mentioned. I appreciated how she was not pushy with specific salon product sales and just gave me the information. It's been a week since I got my hair dyed. I found this place on Groupon and Freddy w/ Maria treated my hair. Freddy did my haircut and style. Maria assisted with the color treatment on my hair. Unfortunately, the color is already fading and you can see the unevenness of the color throughout the hair. I had told him from the beginning which color I wanted and what would be the cost since my hair had been dyed before. However, he insisted on starting to treat my hair instead of telling me the cost and number of times it would have to be processed. It was bleached twice, differently on my roots and at the body of my hair. Then it was colored twice after with a different red for the body and another red for the roots. It is saddening to say that I am very disappointed by it. This was my first time dying and bleaching my hair at a salon. I expected for the color to last longer considering it was bleached and colored twice. The cost was too much for a week's worth of color on my hair. Now, you can notice the color unevenness throughout my hair. Both, Freddy and Maria were very costumer service friendly. I wish the color on my hair would have lasted a bit longer for the price. After posting this review, the salon got in contact with me and offered a complimentary re-application hair dye. This time we went with a deeper tone. I went to 1202 salon and spa in pasadena today and was blown away by the amount of time and effort they put in making their customers feel welcome and comfortable. I had called ahead of time and made an appointment with Haley for cut and color. When I arrived she asked me if there was anything she could offer me so that I'd be more comfortable while working with my hair. She let me know her husband Jerry would be in charge of cutting my hair while she colored. Jerry was able to cut my hair in a small amount of time yet made it look like he had completely changed it. When Haley returned she started working on the color. Both her husband and Haley worked on my hair while asking every now and then if I was liking my new color. I didn't notice it much when they were coloring it and washing it but once they blow dried it I was left speechless by the array of colors used. Needless to say I left today a happy customer. As a very satisfied customer, I have to leave a comment about my hair stylist - Yaling Hsieh, knowing that she doesn't promote herself out there as needed and it's actually doing a lot of people who are demanding and specific about their hair cuts a total disservice. I can go on and on about how great Yaling is and how creative and surprisingly talented..., but to keep this short and concise, I'll give you the gist of all you need to know for a good decision making. I have tried many good hair salons in the Pasadena area and also in San Francisco, including those celebrity frequented and highly rated salons with hefty pricing (I mean $150 for a simple short hair cut, and $290 for one tone color highlight is kinda pricy imo but as long as they are good people are willing to pay for the price), although they are good, but I always find myself a week or so as phase-in period before I stop nagging about some details; but with Yaling, this has never happened, it's always straight to the Happy Face. Being a picky customer who values a good hair cut for my profession, I cannot risk the chance to try & see. I come back to see her for my hairs even though I live in SF, she does good hair cuts, highlights, and products (she knows secrets to good products too), and the pricing - totally worth a trip! Very disappointed. Went to get a haircut about a week ago with Lisa. I found a groupon which seemed like a good deal. I asked her to only trim my ends and maybe layer a bit. Made very clear I do not like my front hair short. She starts cutting and starts to cut a lot. Halfway through she says, " I know it looks like a lot but you'll love it" she cut a lot more hair then I'd asked and it looks so choppy. The layers aren't smooth and my front hair is way too short which is not flattering. I asked for a low maintenance hair cut because I am not someone who loves to spend a lot of time on their hair. I now have to blow dry my hair with a roll brush every time I wash it. My daughter came across this groupon deal so we decided to try it out. It was a nice little place near old town Pasadena. They have their own parking that was a plus. So we had an appointment with Maria. Nice sweet lady very friendly and welcoming. I must say, she is by far the best stylist we had ever came across. Her cutting skill was amazing. I love when she only use scissors to cut your entire hair with no blade shaving. Her layering cuts were so naturally looking..not like some others so choppy. We didn't want her to cut too much, too short for layers and she was able to give us lots of nice natural layers and barely snip off too much of our precious hair. Now that's called skill and technique. I highly recommend her if you want nice natural layers, V-shape style, scissors used only, great service, accommodate to your time of conveniece, and helped us take some selfies (they have an area for u to do that..lol) she was well worth going to. I called 1202 salon and got an appointment the same day with Fredy, the gods were definitely in my favor! I walked in with copper orange hair, and wanted a dark brown with grey ombré. I honestly don't know how he and his team did it but they gave me an almost perfect result while keeping the integrity of my hair! I could not have been happier with the results and the amount of time and effort they put into me. Even though we were there two hours after the salon closed, I never once felt rushed. Salon was great, clean and friendly. I went in for a trim, but the stylist was able to fit me in for a color. The only thing i didn't like is it took over 3.5 hours to complete. I found this place through Groupon, for a package deal done by Fredy Arboleda. I didn't really have high expectations, because in my experience Groupon stylists aren't the greatest. They're usually upselling or making you feel uncomfortable, but Fredy was so professional and respectful. He's a true artist. I really wasn't expecting to find my new hair stylist, but I can't see myself going anywhere else. He knew exactly what color I wanted, and even though I was going much lighter than my light brown color, he knew he could achieve it without using any bleach. The haircut took maybe a couple minutes, so he's also your modern day Edward Scissorhands. I definitely recommend Fredy! The staff are also really friendly. read more

But I loved Chelsea's work and made the decision to pay the full price, with the intention of saving the Groupon for another time. I completely forgot about the fine print of the Groupon that says it's for first-time customers only. No one from the salon mentioned this detail of the Groupon to me when I checked out, nor double-checked with me that I wanted to forgo using the Groupon (ever). I . Love. Yaling !!!!!Shes the hairstylist I have been loyal for more than two years , and it is really hard to find a person I like. I have met TOO MANY hair stylists that either don't get what I am talking about and do my hair their way , or charge me too much . Yaling is none of that . I trust her so much that I always show her a picture or just throw her the direction I want her to do, and she always did the job perfectly. This time she dyed my hair with the two colors I asked , and it turned out so pretty and it's exactly what I want it to be!!!! She also dyed my purple hair last time , and it was pretty too ! Yaling is also funny and very cheerful, and she always have that positive energy that makes me feel happy and comfortable around with This salon is also beautiful and so clean , and the space and people there actually make me anticipate for my next haircut and hairdo ! Yaling's assistant Annie is also very attentive , and always bring my water or ice tea. Every time when my hair is done, other people who work in the salon always come and give me complements.
