Dr Shi is a wizard. No, a fairy. No, a healer. Yes, definitely a healer. Although A Beautiful Day Spa is well known for their massage treatments, the well-kept hidden secret is Dr. Shi. Dr. Shi has been practicing acupuncture for decades. Dr. Shi can speak some English, but is fluent in Mandarin. As a patient who speaks some Mandarin, I'm fortunate enough to learn that Dr. Shi travels to give speeches in China and he continues to learn the arts of healing. Dr. Shi is an unorthodox acupuncturist in which his methods are not just sticking needles in your body. He asks your body to change the tendons, the muscles, the bones, the fascia, and even the skin. And yes Dr Shi talks to your body, it's so strange (I know), but he can find where the source of your pain is from and he tries to find the root cause of the pain so he can transform your body. Even if I don't tell him I have pain in a specific area, he will find out after assessing your body. As someone who suffers from multiple injuries, my chronic pain and musculoskeletal problems caused migraines, dizziness and pain with movement. I saw renowned acupuncturists twice to three times a week for three months and my symptoms never improved significantly enough to go about my daily life. I saw Dr. Shi for one month, twice a week and my headaches and dizziness improved right away. My range in motion also increased with less pain. Additionally, my stiffness and deep pain lessened. So why the magic... okay, I get it. You need a concrete example. I have a painful bump in the back of my head, it was about 2inch so not too big, but pressing on it caused migraines and shooting pain down my neck and spine. Dr. Shi placed acupuncture needles in my body, asked me to do some strange movements, and in three sessions the spot was less tender and I no longer have shooting pain down my neck and spine. This was also combined with Western medicine. It's not completely gone because he explained that healing is treatment, time, taking care of yourself, staying warm and moving correctly. I also like the way Dr. Shi inserts and takes out the needles. He prepares your body and gently inserts the needles. If it will be a painful spot, he will guide you on how to lessen the pain for that acupoint. I am excited that the acupuncture clinic will be opened soon. I was really excited for this place from all the reviews I saw, but it wasn't what we were expecting. I had booked a 60-minute massage for my mother and requested strong pressure. The receptionist confirmed that they had someone who had the strongest therapist booked for my mom and I had nothing to worry about. However, my mother told me there was barely any pressure even when she inquired they said that strong, deep pressure would be an extra charge. Which is fine, however, it seems that they just gave her light strokes throughout. She wanted to walk out mid-session but chose to stay to see if there would be any improvement but there was none. We would not recommend this place. Update: Dustin tried offering us 30% off for us to come back.. doesn't seem like a good/decent solution to anything. Parking can be a bit tricky, but they do offer two reserved parking spots directly behind the business, as well as two additional reserved spots in the Lake Parking Structure--just make sure to get parking validation from them, which was helpful. Dustin was friendly, professional, and made me feel comfortable in the beginning. I hadn't had a massage in years, so I was definitely overdue. I went in with neck, calf, and back pain, and the experience was exactly what I needed. My masseuse Annie was great. The massage was very relaxing and targeted the areas where I was feeling the most tension. Booking an appointment was easy--you can either call or book online, which I appreciated. I've had two different gals massage me and both are exceptional! I have zero complaints! Pressure was amazing, pacing was great, technique was perfect. I just love it. I took my mom today and she usually is like "meh" after a massage but after coming here, she could not stop praising them! It helped her sciatica so much! I live in the neighborhood and somehow never noticed this day spa right next to the post office until recently. How could that happened? They have two parking spots in the back, but they were already taken when I arrived. Street parking is available, and they also validate parking at the Lake parking structure. I found one-hour street parking on Mentor, and since parking is free after 6 pm, it worked out perfectly for my 5 o'clock appointment. Check-in was quick and easy, and the massage itself was solid. My only complaint was that the hot stones were a bit too hot and occasionally felt uncomfortable. That said, the therapist did focus on the areas I marked on the sheet at check-in and I really appreciate that. I have a hard time finding a strong masseuse who actually gets all my knots out so I was really hoping I would have a great massage after reading all the good reviews. I made every effort to let the employees here know that I needed someone who is really strong to do deep tissue on me because I have insane neck knots that cause headaches. My traps are super stiff from stress and bad posture. The person that helped me booked me with Annie. Annie was good and had a firm grip, but I think I need a male masseuse for a way stronger/ more painful grip strength. I was hoping Annie would focus on my neck more, but she massaged my whole body (which was great), but I really just needed 60mins on releasing my neck tension. I didn't quite get enough neck time, nor did I get any focus on releasing my specific knots. This was a nice experience and a good price point, but I just needed it to be more location-focused. What an amazing experience! I got a gift certificate for Christmas and I couldn't wait to book since I experience chronic pain in my back. Once I got there I was easily checked in and asked to fill the form of where I would like to focus on/avoid which I really appreciated. I highlighted my shoulders/traps area since that is where I carry most of my tension and pain. Upon entering the treatment room, it was quaint and perfect. My therapist started off in the areas that I experience the most pain and quickly helped me relieve the tenderness in those areas which I was so grateful for. I've been into countless other massage rooms where I spend nearly an arm and a leg and don't even provide any relief like my therapist Tina did! I was sooo so grateful, I could've cried. Throughout the whole treatment I felt really comforted and taken care of. Her touch was firm but most of all, perfect. The technique was unlike any other massage I've had in the best way possible. This is a great place for accupuncture as well as massages. Dr. George is attentive to what you need and doesn't simply stick a few needles randomly and then leave you to lie there for thirty minutes. He works with you and your body until the right spot is found where the needle goes. He spent a good thirty minutes working on my body with his fingers to find the spot where each needle was to go. The heatlamp he used was soothing. Once he finds all the places for every needle needed, he lets you rest there for 10-minutes before he calmly removes each needle. You will feel light-headed when it's over, so take it easy. read more

I was having horrible neck pain for over a week and decided to book a massage to help the pain. I was able to book online a few days in advance, but the weekend spots do book up quicker as expected. They sent detailed parking instructions via text a day before my appointment. They have two dedicated spots in the lot behind them. However, luckily, I was able to find free street parking around the block. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and checked in with the host. You fill out a paper where you can circle areas you want your masseuse to focus on and/or avoid as well as the strength. I ended up in one of the curtain-ed off "rooms" but it felt very private as the curtains were pretty much floor to ceiling and it's super dark. However, if you were to make noises, your neighbor could probably hear. They do have rooms too but I don't know if it's a lottery system on who gets curtain vs door. My massage was amazing. I think her name was Zoe(?). She really got so many of my knots out and it was such a relaxing experience. I literally did not want it to end. I did get the signature full body massage so they massage everything from your neck to your butt to your feet. She'll get on the bed and use a good amount of pressure as well as stretch you out. Reasonably priced and good if you're looking to chill for value. The experience was easy to book online and they don't charge your card right away so you can pay with cash for a discount. The reason for 4 stars and not a 5 is because I've had other places provide more attentive massages that truly seek out your knots and trouble areas. The masseuse did fine and they do offer you an intake form at the beginning to indicate which areas to focus on and level of strength, but I still don't think the masseuse found my knots compared to a few other places I've gone to that will really tailor the experience based on your problematic places. I had the curtain room that was split with another individual. I appreciate that the ambiance is very quiet and everyone is respectable of a serene environment. You are able to fully undress for a more comfortable experience. I was a little skeptical of the head massage but it was SOO relaxing. Pressure was perfect and I never had to remind her to go lighter. I wish the feet massage had more technique but it was still enjoyable. They provided ample time to undress and redress before entering. I look forward to coming back monthly. They do offer a $5 cash discount. I recommend you check your change before leaving. The hour massage was $55 and I gave a $15 tip. I gave her an $80 bill and she only gave me $5 back. Luckily I caught it before leaving and she kindly apologized for the mistake.
