My wife and I recently visited Bamboo Creek Spa for a couples massage. We were able to walk in and they accommodated us right away, which we really appreciated. The price was reasonable, and the oil massage itself was good. They also used hot stones, which added a nice relaxing touch. Communication over the phone beforehand was a bit challenging due to a language barrier. We initially called just to check availability. Shortly after, they texted us their business card, which felt unexpected since we already had their information and that's why we called in the first place. We've never had a business text their card unless we asked for it. They then called again, which came across a little pushy rather than simply informational. The biggest downside during the massage was privacy and time. The door to our room was left open, and other workers and clients were walking past, which made it hard to fully relax. Also, my massage therapist stepped out during the session to assist someone at the front desk and did not make up for the time. Another comfort issue: they placed a paper towel over the face cradle where you rest your head. It made breathing difficult, and I actually had to poke a hole in it to breathe more comfortably. Most massage places use a breathable cover or cloth instead. One small but noticeable thing: most massage places offer water before or after the session, and that wasn't offered here. Overall, the massage itself was solid and the walk-in availability was convenient. With better privacy, a more relaxed communication approach, and a few comfort and hospitality improvements, the experience could be much better. read more

I have received many massages here throughout 7 years. They have all been fantastic. Recently my back hurt so much it open up. I received a massage from Jenny and her wonderful touch cured me from what ailed me. She cared enough to work on my knots and the scalp massage was so soothing. I did one hour combo massage. Then I went in the following week and did one hour Massage in a private room with oil and hot stones. She was able to be more thorough and I'm feeling great! 10/10 read more

Just used the spa today for the first time and I was very impressed! They got my wife and I an appointment last minute and they were very accommodating! I requested an intensity level 7 massage since I enjoy the deep tissue, and my wife requested level 3. The female masseuse did an outstanding job! She was very kind and communicative throughout the massage to make sure I was comfortable. My wife said the male masseuse did a very good job on her as well! Called to make an appointment before hand to book a couples room for a full body massage but upon arrival they didn't seem to know about it. Unfortunately it was also a little difficult to communicate as they only spoke chinese but we did it. We were able to get our massages in the couples room! Good pressure but technique can be improved. Also you pay beforehand so they kind of expect a tip before as well if you pay with card. I didn't necessarily like that. I loved this spa! The masseuse was amazing, especially with my lower back. I walked in with so much pain and left feeling incredible. Normally, I'm not a fan of hot stones because they tend to be too hot for me, but she let them cool slightly before using them--and it actually felt really nice. Last minute massages in a Los Angeles "hurricane". Found Bamboo Creek Spa and called for 2 massages. They were able to accommodate us. The business is in a strip mall on the corner. Inviting entrance with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms were clean and lighting was wonderful for a much needed massage. The women was my masseuse and my sister had the gentleman. My massage was not as good as I wanted it to be. The lady wasn't strong enough to work my knots. It was still a decent hour, although I'd like to have the gentleman next time. My sister said that he was very strong and worked on her knots, making her feel 100% better. Overall, it's local and close by. I love supporting Pasadena businesses when I can. I just got the Sweet Combination Special from David and it was amazing! I love that they ask you in advance to rank the the pressure for your massage from 1-5. He stayed on target and I was in heaven! They have the most tranquil music playing while you're enjoying your massage. I also like that the therapist does not try to hold a conversation with you. I can't stand when they do that or when you can hear a conversation from the next room. Not here, it is super quiet. He was there to massage me and I was there to relax. I usually get massages once a month to ease the tension on my shoulders and back due to being in front of the computer for work. My favorite masseurs left the original spot I used to go to so I hopped on Yelp and saw that Bamboo Creek was close by and had good reviews. I decided to go with David for a 60 minute combo and I'm so happy I did! He is SO good! He applies just the right amount of pressure, is attentive to targeting my pain points and is super friendly. I've gone back 3 times and he's consistently good each time. I've also brought my mom here and she's super picky when it comes to massages and she left really happy with the service she received from Jenny. Let me start off by saying, I have been here multiple times and have not had a bad experience, until today. I will not be coming back here. They ask you to pay first, which has never been an issue for me; however, now I know that by asking patrons to pay before the service, it lets the therapists get away with being lazy. The start of my massage was fine (head, arms), but when the therapist sat down and started massaging my feet, HE FELL ASLEEP. I noticed his strokes were slowing down and getting softer, so I took the towel off my face to see what was going on. He was fighting his sleep - eyes closed, barely moving his fingers, doing god knows what. there were multiple times when he would COMPLETELY STOP, just holding and leaning on my feet and shins, SLEEPING. he would startle when he would hear the door open or his co workers walking by, start moving his fingers again (barely) then fall back asleep 10 seconds later. at this point I asked him, "do you need someone else to do the massage? you're sleeping". He didn't understand me and just looked at me with a blank stare, so he definitely knew he got caught. still, he continued to fall asleep intermittently for the next 10 minutes. When the front desk lady walked by, I pointed to him and signaled to her quietly "he's sleeping" and she noticed he was barely moving. She didn't do anything except whisper to him. I was tempted to get up and leave with 30 mins of my massage still to go, but because I already paid $52, I let him finish but I had my eyes open the rest of the time. Even when I turned around onto my stomach, I could tell he was fighting his sleep because he was leaning on my back. I have been getting massages regularly for over 10 years, and I have done Swedish, shiatsu, deep tissue, thai massage, everything, you name it. I know the difference between heavy pressure and someone who is sleepy and lazy using your body to lean on just to avoid falling on the chair. Embarrassing. For this reason I am not coming back to this place, unless they stop asking patrons to pay ahead of time. I've realized that it's unfair and I don't feel comfortable giving them my money and running the risk of experiencing this again. read more

TL;DR: Great massages, but be prepared to tip more than customary amount. My usual spot doesn't do walk ins, so I thought I'd try someplace new, and Bamboo Creek Spa looked like a good option to try reflexology. Mike was the one who helped me when I arrived and walked me to through sign in. I had to pay upfront, which was unusual to me but not a big deal. I was given a very comfortable seat and enjoyed a very nice massage. Mike knows what he's doing and I nearly fell asleep because I was so relaxed. Afterwards, I was guided to the front desk by a woman who asked his my massage went. I told her it was very nice and I was given my receipt to tip and sign, and this is where things went a bit wrong. I told her that I was going to write in "cash" and tip with that as I don't like carrying cash on me. The 30 minute reflexology massage is $25 (+$2 cc fee), so I gave Mike a $5 tip. Now unless I'm very ignorant of massage tipping etiquette, I thought 15-20% was customary, but the woman tells me that the tip is too low. I'm not really sure what to do at this point as I've never been told that I've not tipped enough, but before I can reply, Mike says it's not a big deal and kindly bids me farewell. I left feeling pretty uncomfortable and a bit annoyed because while the massage was excellent, the experience left me more irritated than when I arrived, and I've decided that I won't be returning. read more

I called and they said to come down, I was brought in right away, the place is clean, and quiet. I went to a back room for a 60 minute hot oil massage. David was surprised when I circled the hardest level of pressure...he delivered. It was not a elbow poking massage, he did at times use his elbow and forearm as you should, not the painful untrained way. He relaxed me and worked away on my knots and when he massaged my temples, I felt the stress I was holding disappear..seriously it was an excellent massage and so close to home. TLDR: Beware of forced tipping policy. I have been frequenting this place for a few years now. However, yesterday was my last visit and I will not be returning. The massage was very painful. I repeatedly asked the masseuse for lighter touch, however he continued to use the same force. He also had very long nails and I could feel his nails scraping on my skin. The combo feet massage is $45. When we checked out, I put down $8 which would be 20%. The owner took out a laminated paper stating if the service was dissatisfactory, please tip $10, and if service was satisfactory, please tip $20( which is almost 50%!!). The owner then went on to explain that this is mandatory and strong armed me into this outrageous tipping policy. I left feeling really uncomfortable. read more
