I bought the monthly membership the premium one that gives me 80 minute massages or facials. And the best part is, I can use my HSA! I did their January special and I literally did not know how to process it. I sat in my car for five minutes, snot running down my nose, and brain in a fog just thinking like omg what was that?! Ruimin was amazing. I believe I got a lymphatic combo massage and it was insane. Apparently snot and congestion are a good sign of a proper lymphatic massage. I made an appointment for Friday morning and the process to schedule an appointment was super easy. Robert checked me in when I arrived and was also my massage therapist. He asked what areas I wanted to focus on before we started and explained to me the fire cupping marks. Wow. I am in bliss. It's been 23 minutes and I'm sitting in my car after the insanely thorough massage I got by Ruimin. I don't really like massages since I find them painful and don't really like getting touched. It was a clean and comfortable location and very accessible (close to the hospital where my husband was having a treatment) The only thing I would say is that the cost of the treatments is higher than most other places in the vicinity. Noa, make no mistake-- the practitioners are clearly far more qualified and have extensive training in Eastern medicine- however it is difficult to justify the price tag in comparison to some of the local places. Easy to book appointments for massage. Love the combo massage (lymphatic, gua sha and regular) and the fire cupping. Helped relieve a lot of my back tension, anxiety and practioner was in tune with what was going on in my body. Appreciate that this place is the real deal and not some overpriced gentrified spot that charges way more for how the space looks/location/or cool website/marketing over the skill level of the practitioners. I believe if practitioners are of a different culture of the healing modality it's important to really demonstrate that they've studied, understand and honor it. I did fire cupping at golden folk wellness which was double the cost ($100 instead of $50) with no results and was advertised as a 60 min session but didn't get the full time because the practitioner started late. They're super nice there but they're hard to book, some practitioners there are flaky to respond and charge a lot more for eastern medicine that you can find at Kangs and elsewhere for a lot more reasonable pricing. At Kang she put her all into it and the fire cupping is a shorter time (15-20 minutes) yet the results were so apparent. They have a membership option that is pretty awesome. I had been looking for a place to get regular massages in Pasadena for quite some time and found Kang Eastern Medicine Spa around 6 months back. I have chronic joint pain and very tight muscles in addition to the typical aches one gets with constant desk work. Both Ruimin and Robert are excellent at what they do and very knowledgeable. Given how skilled they are, I am grateful (and surprised!) at how easily I can arrange a same day appointment. I recommend them both wholeheartedly. For Pasadena, I think their prices are very reasonable (~80 USD for 50 min. in 09/2022), and I appreciate the monthly specials. There are other places in Pasadena with lower prices, comparable service, but tighter spaces, so I appreciate that the rooms at KEM are larger. The atmosphere is unpretentious, and it has feels like an acupuncture clinic rather than a day spa. I'm there for relief, not pampering, but frankly, both for the price and my needs, that's exactly what I want. read more

I first had a massage with Riumi, and then a gua sha facial with Maya, and I loved both. I have a very hard time relaxing, and for both I felt calm and at ease, and I could tell a physical difference in how my body felt after my treatments. Riumi is very knowledgeable in eastern medicine from her training and life experience growing up in China, and I enjoyed getting to know her and hearing her knowledge. Maya is also great, and helped me a lot letting go of physical tension in my face from TMJ. The facilities are clean and calming, and the staff is professional and informative. I was referred by a friend to see Helen. I wanted to try a more holistic approach to addressing some health concerns. I've been dealing with hand tremors, runners knee, and a feeling of sluggishness. She recommend do the fire cupping along with the acupuncture. It was my first time for both. I enjoyed both. The fire cupping was not painful at all so don't let the description scare you. It helped to loosen my tense shoulders. The acupuncture needles were strategically placed to help overall flow throughout my whole body specifically targeting my stomach, the center, which make sense when you think of how your overall gut health can affect your entire body. I walked out feeling more relaxed. It was recommended that I do acupuncture once a week for maintenance. I will keep you posted on progress or lack there of. read more

I have to give credit to Amber C's review of this place. I had previously only ever had a facial with another place in Pasadena that rhymes with Peeps & Co. They were okay and I had felt slightly underwhelmed with their Gua Sha facial treatment as the Esthetician had little to no pressure during the session. I told myself there was probably another place that could do better. Enter Kang Eastern Medicine. I had scheduled a same day appointment and was lucky they had a vacant time slot. Robert was great calling me back to alert me that they had an opening. From the moment I stepped in, customer service was polite and attentive. I had Yoko as my Esthetician and she was similarly just as polite. But the real gold was the legitimate Gua Sha massage i received during my deluxe facial treatment. The pressure was more substantial and you could feel the Esthetician's years of experience. The entire session was 80 mins long but I swear it felt longer than that. She kept explaining the steps along the way, which was super informative and kept checking in on me to ask if the pressure of the massages were just right. And the best part, she was whispering which was great ASMR in and of itself. The entire thing was affordable and better quality than most other local facial treatment places. *HIDDEN GEM* 1st visit beginning of September 2021: I was introduced to the concept of gua sha facials and I wanted to see if there were any places near me that did them. I found this place and I decided to try the gua sha 25 minute facial. All I can say is WOW. The facial was honestly more like a face massage. It was so relaxing and my face was GLOWING afterwards because of the enhanced blood circulation that the gua sha provides. I felt as if I had blinked my eyes and the facial was over because I was enjoying myself so much. The esthetician was so gentle and she even noted that I have tightness on my jaw area and asked if I grind my teeth! I do, something I inherited from the stress of the pandemic... The store is in a packed parking lot so something to consider, but I have never had any issues finding parking. The store itself is very clean. I noticed a review said otherwise and I honestly think they must be reviewing the wrong place because that was one of the first things I noticed. I've been to several estheticians and this is by far the cleanest. 2nd visit end of September 2021: I decided to go back to the spa for a more intensive facial, the Customized facial, because I wanted extractions but also the magical gua sha. Unfortunately when I went, the esthetician had an emergency and they called me to reschedule BUT they have great customer service because they apologized several times and offered a free upgrade to the 80 minute Deluxe facial. I just came back from the Deluxe facial and it was just as amazing I thought it would be. With the calming music and the esthetician's gentle hands, I could lay there for hours! The esthetician cleans your face, then extractions, high frequency machine to kill bacteria underneath skin to prevent acne, gua sha face and scalp, and finally head and neck massage. My favorite part about this facial was that they actually focused on the décolletage and included that in the facial and massages. I've found that's pretty rare. The esthetician even remembered me from my last appointment and said she saw an improvement in my acne. Those little things make me feel very welcome to become a regular customer. My initial reason for trying out acupuncture was for stress relief. During the session we talked about the other benefits, and we discussed other services which I could try out.
