I began acupuncture treatment with Zen in early 2025 after suffering from lower back pain for a year and am very impressed with the results I experienced. My pain was due to idiopathic scoliosis in my lumbar region that developed late in life. Although there is no cure for this condition, through acupuncture with Zen and targeted exercise, I am pain-free most of the time. I was impressed by the extensive health history interview that Zen does prior to the start of treatment and by the personalized treatment plan she developed for me. Initially, I saw her twice each week, then once each week, then once each month, and then every other month. I recently discontinued treatment because my pain now is so minimal and infrequent that I had trouble justifying the expense. As a bonus, the process is very relaxing, almost akin to a spa treatment. Also, she addressed other ancillary issues that were bothering me such as allergies. If I ever develop another pressing health problem, I will return to Zen. Absolutely LOVE working with Zen. She is so thorough, and this is such a well-run practice. Approximately 4 years ago, I went to Healing with Zen, and right after my first acupuncture treatment with Zen, I felt relief from several of the health concerns I had at the time. At first, I received acupuncture treatments twice/week, and felt much better after each each treatment, and as time went by and many of my concerns were either improved and/or resolved, my treatments went down to once every two weeks, then three weeks and now only once/per month to treat any concerns I might have. A tale of tmj woe and relief! About two years ago I had a traumatic event cause my jaw to start locking, over the first few weeks it would start to get sore after eating a lot or talking for a long time. Then I started to wake up with it hurting, then it would hurt all day. At its worse I couldn't open my mouth wider than an inch and it was excruciating. I could barely eat or talk. Yawning would cause my jaw to pop loudly. I started to and do still talk crooked from my jaw pulling to one side. My first stop was my dentist to ask if my fillings were causing my jaw not to set right or to see what they recommended. He said it would go away on its own. 3 months later I went back to the dentist still feeling the pain- they recommended an expensive mouth guard to stop me from clenching my teeth at night. I bought it- tried it for a month- but found it was making things worse. Next stop was a tmj "specialist" here in Glendale. He recommended braces for 2 years, to pull my upper teeth lower and my lower teeth higher- and then his own invention (not fda approved or ANYONE approved for that matter) that was a lower and upper mouth guard that I would wear for another 2-6 years. He didn't take xrays, he didn't feel my jaw. He just walked in with the hard sell . $10k total for this treatment. Soooo with a recommendation I started seeing a personal trainer for physical therapy- 10 weeks later I learned some nice stretches and felt a little better but had no relief. The physical therapist told me to do 10 weeks of Rolfing and 10 weeks of acupuncture and that would cure me. I was wary of acupuncture so I chose to just try Rolfing. Rolfing went great, it's essentially a hardcore massage that resets all of your muscles. It worked great- I got 50% improvement from my first few visits but then it dropped off. So I sat here, over my most stressful holiday season with my jaw getting tighter and tighter from stress until I couldn't take it anymore. My therapist recommended an acupuncturist and I made an appointment. The first visit I felt no different. After the second visit my pain was gone for a day and a half! After my third visit my pain was gone for 3 whole days, and after my fourth visit my jaw was healed. Last week I was able to eat an apple on the core for the first time in 2 years because I could finally open my jaw wide enough. I'm still continuing my 10 weeks of acupuncture for maximum benefit and am just blown away by how well it worked for me. I can not recommend it enough! My husband and I have been going to Zen for almost 4 years on a regular basis at the Disney Cancer center in Burbank, Calif. Her private office and staff is located in Pasadena. When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 my life literally changed overnight and it changed again when I started seeing Zen on October 4th of 2018. I've been seeing her every week since and I can honestly say that getting referred to her was one of the best referrals I have ever got. I'm so impressed with the staff and care from Healing with Zen. At the beginning of the year I came to Zen after a dry fast had caused my 4-year infected front tooth to rapidly lose structure in a matter of days. I had spent 4 years trying to save this tooth from a root canal with the hopes of regenerating it or at least buying me time until more advanced endodontics came out (which they did in 2022 but I was not a candidate to receive vital pulp therapy since the tooth had died...) I was desperately working to revive the tooth, but my endodontist calmly told me that it was chronically infected now, and I'd be better off to do a root canal...), with occasional success here and there to bring some life back to the tooth, despite my less than lackluster oral hygiene, before I found out that cleanse and detoxes alone were not going to regenerate my teeth if I didn't keep them squeaky clean all day. Long story. In any case! I had spent 4 years invested in my cause, and I wasn't ready to thrown the towel in on #9 yet. I learned about Zen from my acupuncturist in Laguna Woods a few years ago, but had been putting off acupuncture due to financial reasons. I came to Zen very mentally unwell with 3 of my front teeth severely decayed, #9 dead, and the others #10 and #11 on the cusp of dying and at least needing vital pulp therapy, potentially root canals. Zen listened to my case and my goals, and supported me from the beginning with so much empathy and support, despite that my goal to revive a dead tooth was probably unheard of. My sinuses and symptoms from the abscessed tooth were flairing up at this point, and after 1 treatment from Zen in January I had an immediate improvement in my sinuses. They flushed and the symptoms from my abscessed already was feeling a little better. The goal for me was to boost the immune system from the inside and to keep the tooth super clean. Along with the acupuncture treatments I was employing a very strict herbal protocol to help rid my body of bacteria and boost my lymph. These worked steadily to help keep inflammation at bay, but I could tell that's Zen's acupuncture gave my symptoms relief right away. Fixing the infection would take time however. When I did go back to get an updated CT scan and xrays, the endodontist and other dentists did feel that the infection was getting smaller from the inside but were skeptical that I could reverse the infection entirely once it's past the acute stage. I didn't want to give up, and with Zen's help and encouragement, I felt supported, even if I was aware of the odds. Zen always listened to me and had genuine interest in my journey and everything that's going on. But the time March came around I was slowly making progress improving the infection, but had not yet been able to rid it completely and rather than risk losing more of the tooth structure, I ended up opting for a partial root canal treatment called a revascularization, where the necrotic pulp is removed, and we use PRF to help stimulate blood, lymph and dentin to regrow (but not the nerve), if there is healthy bleeding a month after the pulpectomy. Even though the tooth had been infected for 4 years and I had to remove my wisdom teeth in between procedures, alas! Healthy blood flow was there, and we were able to successfully attempt the revascularization procedure. The infected area of the bone seems to be healing slowly and I didn't need to take any antibiotics. Also #11 healed enough that it didn't even need vital pulp therapy once it was worked on, just a filling. #10 did need vital pulp therapy (direct pulp cap), but it was only a very small part of the root that was exposed, and it had no bleeding or sign of inflammation so it wasn't necessary to remove any of the pulp. According to Dr Riman's experience, she finds Vital Pulp therapy is successful about 70% of the time in adults. I really cannot thank Zen enough for all her help and support and listening to me rambling on and on about teeth lol. Aside from being an amazing acupuncturist, she's also just an incredibly kind and grounded person, who always encouraged me and validated my feelings even when I felt like I had no right to be as upset as I was. I took a break from acupuncture for about a month again once my teeth had stabilized for financial reasons, and lately my sinuses and knee pain flaired up again after relaxing my dietary restrictions. I went back to Zen, and lo and behold, my sinuses drained a little right away minutes after treatment. Feels so relieving to breathe freely. I was having a lot of anxiety again, and I always feel so much better emotionally and mentally after treatment. As someone who really looks up to healers, she truly inspires me. This review is so overdue! I've been working with Zen for almost 4 months and she is absolutely wonderful. I came to her having recently been diagnosed with PCOS and missing my menstrual cycle, as well as suffering from digestive issues, allergies, and intermittent back/shoulder/neck pain. Since working with her, my digestive issues have greatly improved, I no longer have allergy symptoms (even around dogs, which used to always cause me issues), I haven't had any significant pain, and my cycle is starting to regulate! I went three times to this place and was underwhelmed. The first time was a consultation, where someone just read through a form asking me the questions. It was not personalized and there was no curiosity to explore my symptoms outside of the formatted questionnaire. And that cost me $180! But I don't give up easy, so I went to a couple sessions more with people that seemed to have just gotten out of school. I have had plenty of acupuncture treatments before at other places and this was by far the least helpful and the treatments felt rote. I had originally wanted to meet with Zen, but she was booked on a consistent basis. In general, look for acupuncturists that have been either traditionally trained in Asian countries or that have a strong family lineage that goes back for generations with very sophisticated knowledge and the ability to think outside the box. read more

Zen brought me back from the dead. That's the best way I can describe what my acupuncture treatment has done for me. In all honesty, I sought out Healing with Zen as a last resort after countless frustrations with my Western medical practitioners and no signs of my health improving. I was skeptical about how much acupuncture could really do for me, but I am incredibly happy that I chose to go through with it because it has been the only thing that has brought me relief. I had been battling with a flare up for several months that left me non-functional-- all work and social plans came to a crashing halt. I was suffering from intense migraines about five days a week, vertigo/dizziness, nausea, crippling widespread pain, anxiety, depression, and extreme fatigue-- just to name a few. Fast forward to today, after many weeks of treatment, and I have my life back again. My migraines alone have gone down to one a month and I believe even that one will eventually be reduced to zero. I started seeing Zen in August 2015 to assist with some fertility issues. I thought of myself as a relatively healthy person - or at least I didn't complain much. I discovered healing with zen via Yelp and was looking for a comfortable setting that would help me with a severe Multiple Sclerosis flair up.
