I ordered the 5-piece takoyaki, and it tasted amazing! I think I might've burned the roof of my mouth, but it was totally worth it. The outside was perfectly crispy, while the inside was soft and creamy. It's a great place to stop for a quick bite if you're craving authentic takoyaki!

Takoyaki6ix, located along Baldwin St. in Kensington Market close to Spadina, services up delicious Japanese street food snacks - think takoyaki, baos, onigiri, and kaarage chicken (they also have a kaarage chicken bento!). The small eatery is primarily take out only although they do have a few seats indoors and 2 tables outside. The seating indoors can be a bit cramped. I haven't had takoyaki since I went to Osaka and I was in Kensington Market recently to grab lunch. I actually had gotten takeout elsewhere but then saw the crowds of people eating takoyaki on the sidewalk which prompted me to make my way inside to order 5 pieces of takoyaki. Once inside I ordered my takoyaki. Staff were really friendly and the takoyaki does take a few minutes to make. I opted to have my takoyaki there where I sat outside to enjoy. The octopus balls were freshly made and super hot! I had to be careful eating them. Each of the balls had octopus pieces inside while the centre was gooey (just like in Japan!). I enjoyed my takoyaki snack while it brought me back to my trip to Japan. The takoyaki was delicious and it was quite filling as I finished them all up. Overall, a great place for takoyaki in Kensington Market. If you're looking to try this Japanese street food snack this is the place to come for some authentic tasting octopus balls! I definitely want to try the kaarage bento next time as it looked delicious as well.

A tiny stall located in Kensington, Takoyaki6ix offers freshly-made melt-in-your-mouth takoyaki, juicy fried karaage, chicken katsu sandwiches, various baos, and onigiri. Their short but simple menu is effective as it allows them to deliver quality through each item. The takoyaki are priced at $8/5 pcs or $15/10 pcs, a little steep but very worth it. You can also choose to mix and match with the crispy garlic shrimp balls, and they are topped with kewpie (spicy or non), as well as a generous helping of bonito flakes. The pieces of octopus inside are a decent size. The karaage (4 pcs for $8.50) are juicy, and for $12.50 you can get a karaage bento on rice - a generous portion that will definitely leave you feeling full. For $15, you can opt to get the curry chicken katsu bento. As for the baos, they offer a choice of beef brisket, pork belly, or chicken katsu. The onigiri are quite large and come with either tuna mayo, beef, or mustard greens for $3.75 a pop. Don't skip out on this spot for your next Kensington food tour!

Takoyaki6ix is the spot every time I'm in Kensington market. From the takoyaki itself, to the friendly service, to those little tables outside where I can people-watch while my takoyaki cools down (or awkwardly sit in the one empty chair next to a big group ). They are all part of why I love this place. Oh, and their karaage? Pretty damn good too.

Cozy spot in Kensington Market. Tried the brisket bao which was juicy but had too much sauce for my liking.

Came here to try a tuna mayo onigiri $3.75 and takoyaki $8 for 5. The onigiri had warm rice with crispy seaweed. It was enjoyable but missing a bit of green onion or something for some extra punch. The takoyaki on the other hand was delicious and perfect. Hot and flavourful, I like that we can also mix and match with shrimp vs octopus filling. Service was prompt. There's a tiny little area for a few seats as well. We will be back for the takoyaki.

Holy Molly. That chicken bao was transcendental. I had it 4 hours ago, but my mouth is still watering by thinking about it. Takoyaki has always had a very special place in my heart since I was a kid. I still remember that there was a food stand near my elementary school, and I always went there to get precisely 6ix (heh) takoyaki balls in the afternoon as a treat. Seeing the dancing bonito flakes, the smell of the crispy/soft batter of the balls cooked to perfection, mixing with kewpie mayo and the takoyaki dressing and the burning sensation when I ate them defined a significant portion of my childhood. As a result, I have a ~very high standard~ for takoyak; most of the takoyaki I've tried in North America (e.g. ramen restaurants, and Korean fusion restaurants) are disappointments to me, which I would rarely order. I came to Takoyaki6ix once last year, and I gave it a four-star rating. Overall, I think the takoyaki made here is exquisite and definitely a lot better than many other places. I think it lost one star for me because the price was a bit more on the expensive end (15 dollars for 10 if I remember correctly). I got this insatiable craving for takoyaki ball today so I returned. Upon returning, I saw their new menu items (Curry katsu rice bowl & wafu Chicken bao). I felt pretty adventurous so I gave the wafu chicken bao a try. Let me tell ya, that was probably the best decision I made this whole week for my life . Freshly made bao bun, Golden fried chicken katsu, with Japanese egg salad (ah it's so good. I freaking love Japanese egg salad), fresh cabbage and the tangy katsu dressing - this thing tastes like absolute heaven. I had some exchanges with the owner, Kaori and the staff, Mari, and they were super lovely too. The price to portion for the chicken bao is great too! Although it may be considered a "snack" to most, the katsu is pretty big by itself. With that heavenly taste at the cost of 8 dollars? Take my money. In addition, I really appreciate how organized and clean the restaurant is when it comes to properly storing the ingredients, including the raw chicken, and the seafood (octopus, shrimp balls etc.) It's always a massive green flag for me. All and all, just come and try the chicken bao already.

Go to a place for takoyaki! shrimp or octopus! You could get it regualr or spicy. They also got Baos too. Service is quick! The owner is super nice. It's a small shop but there are a few seats outside!

Are you looking for freshly made takoyaki in toronto? THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU The classic takoyaki is made fresh daily by a kind lady. Super nice and friendly oh and be patient, the store is super small, so the line up may get a little crazy. Since it is freshly made, its so much for softer than the ones i eat at restaurants (which are usually frozen takoyaki deep fried). Check out my tiktok for some video action @spiritedlaway or my IG @eatwithclaw for more food content

In visiting Toronto for a couple of days as part of a group and we ended up at Kensington Market area for lunch. Wandering through I checked out Takoyaki6ix and it definitely seemed to be my type of place. I ended up coming back for a late lunch. This is just a little hole in the wall place, small with just enough room for a couple of people to order and the small kitchen area with the takoyaki cooking taking place in the window. The lady running the place was very nice and let me split my order of 10 pieces between the spicy shrimp balls and the takoyaki. Part of the fun was watching the prep of the food; shrimp balls being deep fried, the octopus balls being moved through the hotter sections of the special grill. Then everything is topped with sauces and bonito flakes. I ate my food at the small table out front. The shrimp balls were hot and tasty, succulent, rich and crisp. The Takoyaki were exceptional with the octopus just a little chewy, the flavors popped. Overall excellent, incredibly flavorful and delicious. If you are looking for some really great Japanese style street food you should check out Takoyaki6ix, incredible food and good prices.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon after wanting to try Takoyaki6ix for several months! The workers were super kind. We got 5 takoyaki alls for 8 dollars before tax. It took around 8 to 10 mins and they were piping hot! I definitely wish they had more seating or a larger interior space, so we ate standing outside their store. The takoyaki were creamy, warm and comforting. Not sure if it was from not waiting for them to cool down but we did have trouble picking up the balls and they easily broke apart. Delicious nonetheless however! I'm a big fan of takoyaki and am so happy to see a place that specializes in them. Looking forward to coming back to try their other menu items like the baos.

Lee is the one restaurant I look forward to every Summerlicious…read more One reason is that every year they create a completely new menu instead of reusing dishes from their regular menu. As an Asian fusion restaurant, I always come curious to see what new ideas the chef has come up with. The last two Summerlicious menus disappointed me a little--they felt a bit uninspired, with dishes like the vegetable curry and croquette. This year, however, the creativity is back, and I'd happily recommend Lee's Summerlicious menu again. Fried Wild Cod The crispy cod is served in an edible crispy rice basket, making it feel like sharing bread at the start of the meal. The fish is fried perfectly with a crisp exterior and moist, flaky interior. Paired with Thai sweet chili sauce, it's light, flavorful, and great for sharing. Gazpacho Picante A refreshing take on gazpacho. The avocado gives it a smoother texture, while the hint of spice adds another layer without overpowering the chilled tomato soup. Refreshing and a great appetizer. BBQ Jerk Pork Ribs Three generous ribs--almost a main course on their own. The meat is tender while still retaining a bit of bite, similar to the texture of slow-cooked jerk chicken. The jerk seasoning is excellent, coating every bite with rich, aromatic spices. Pan Roasted Salmon The salmon is beautifully cooked with a nicely caramelized exterior while remaining juicy inside. Each accompaniment brings something different: the olive tapenade is deeply savory, the parsnip purée is smooth and slightly sweet, the lima bean adds a creamy, nutty richness, and the lemon-tomato-pepper vinaigrette brightens everything with acidity and a gentle kick. Lima Bean Succotash Probably the prettiest dish on the menu--and also the most unusual. The lima beans and peas are cooked until tender without becoming mushy. The flavors are layered, but there's a subtle bitterness throughout. After asking the chef, we learned it's the natural flavor of lima beans and was intentionally preserved as part of the dish. Fried Organic Chicken The fried chicken is juicy and tender, reminding me of Japanese karaage. It comes with two fun sauces: one is rich and spicy with a hint of coconut, while the other is a sweet pineapple-lime mayo that pairs surprisingly well with the chicken. The pandan rice, however, was fairly ordinary. The desserts are still classic Lee--beautifully plated, but the flavors are more restrained. We tried the Rhubarb Almond Frangipane Tart, Lemon Mousse Panna Cotta (our favorite), and Strawberry Raspberry Monkey Bread. This year's Summerlicious reminded me why I fell in love with Lee in the first place.

I also highly recommend the wine paring they suggest having with the salad :) Everything else on the menu was done really well. The cheeseburger spring roll was quite unique, Indo think there could've been more texturally inside the actual spring roll, it was all mush in there. Very nice ambiance, service were very attentive, I had a great time and will be back to try more items :)

The general manager and server warmly greeted us and checked up on us several times. The way they took care of us throughout the meal felt like a friend who was personally hosting us in their home. They also took the time to really explain each dish and how to best enjoy it, which I appreciated. Overall, the food definitely didn't disappoint. As someone who is sensitive to salt, I was most impressed by how every dish was perfectly seasoned (not over-seasoned with salt, sugar, and msg). Each dish tasted carefully crafted to let the ingredients shine. Betel Leaf - super fresh and aromatic flavours, really wakes up the taste buds. This is a small bite though so it's gone quick. Mushroom Dumplings - my understanding is that this is a seasonal vegetarian item but it deserves a place on the permanent menu. This was hands-down the best dish of the night. I will dream about and salivate over this dish. The brown butter sauce on the mushroom filling in the dumpling (almost like a ravioli), and truffle + cheese... my gosh, it's a flavor explosion! So decadent and rich, and seasoned to perfection. We licked the plate clean - it was THAT good. Sweet & Sour Pork Hock - the pork was so tender and soft. Again, seasoned well and very balanced. The pickled radish and peppers cut through the fat nicely between bites. I wish there were more of those radish pieces! Octopus Tacos - really smoky and well-cooked octopus, and interesting textures! I was not expecting the shell/wrap to be a vegetable! I enjoyed it and the dish felt lighter/healthier. Big Mac Bao - honestly, save your money on this one. It was good but it's exactly what you'd expect? Tastes like a Big Mac with a Bao bun rather than a regular bun. I just don't understand why someone would order this for $11 and it's pretty small. Duck Bokkeum - this was interesting! As a Korean, I appreciated the Korean twist. The duck was cooked textbook and everything was well-executed. I just don't think I'm a smoked duck person. I like Peking duck. I felt like the smokiness was a little overpowering for my own preferences and I got a little tired of the flavor after several bites. That said, the vegetables on this dish are superb and add great dimension and textures! If you like smoked duck, try it! If you're not a fan, save the $62 and spend it on something else! Aloe Sake Sorbet - a beautiful finish and palate cleanser to a wonderful meal. Very refreshing. You can taste both the sake and the aloe. PARKING NOTE: There's a garage right across the street on the same side as DaiLo that offers very affordable parking. Would recommend parking there!

With prices of an upscale dining restaurant, the service didn't feel like it matched up; it was fairly mediocre. Food was a bit of a hit or miss for us too.. Shrimp toast: fun, good texture, could taste the oiliness stronger than I expected. Paired well with the emulsion. Fun guo: super tasty, quite greasy though. I typically don't order fun guo but the texture was a delight to eat. Pork & crab siu mai: this felt like it lacked identity, not really sure I saw the vision. It just felt like curry on a siu mai lol Iberico cha siu: beautiful cut, perfectly tender, good savouriness, no complaints. R&D fried rice: my biggest letdown. Maybe my expectations were set to high. For a house special, I would expect a solid crowd-pleaser. Having each bite feeling mostly like 'crunch' is not what I think of as fried rice nor a favourite for most people. My ideal fried rice focuses on the grains of rice, with substantial bite and flavour in each spoonful. The flavour was most definitely there, don't get me wrong but it was extremely hard to eat more than a bowl. The redeeming qualities were in the flavour and cute little mushroom garden concept. If they had maybe 2x the amount of rice for the ratio of toppings and crunch, I would say this is a delicious and near perfect fried rice. Not bad, but a hefty price tag for a meal that I had really high hopes for.
