So when this restaurant first opened it was awesome. They gave decent portions for the price. Now the price has gone up and portions are smaller. Also a HUGE let down was what they have done to the tabbouleh. I ordered it quite a few times in February and March 2021 as a salad - and they gave like 2 cups of it! It was great. Now they mix it with thick chopped lettuce and you can hardly call it Tabbouleh. they took a tablespoon of tabbouleh and tossed it with lettuce and thats what you get. They are trying to cut corners and keep profits higher by giving you b.s. - its clear what you're doing. The lettuce is bigger and takes more space so it gives the appearance that your getting tabbouleh. Tricking the consumer 101. Some positives: The taste of the food is good and you get your order relatively quick. I've had my eye to try this spot out for a while now- I never made it to their Brooklyn location so I was really hyped when I saw they had a spot on LI and had to check them out! Small is spot but has enough space for seating and parking is limited to the side of the restaurant. You put in your order on a kiosk- makes it super easy to customize what you want and there are tons of options and room in the menu to customize your order to what you'd like. Prices are fair for the portions you get and the food was delicious! I tried their platters and one of their sandwiches. Techno Fail! I called in an order. A simple one. As soon as the person heard my order he was telling me I had to go on an App to order. Ok, that's odd. I'm in my car, I'm already on the hands free phone- he could just take the order, amirite? He seemed like he was doing me a personal favor. I certainly took him out of his safe place. He took the order. Took my name and phone number. I told him I'd pay when I arrived. Twenty minutes, he said. I said ok and I hung up. All pretty standard conversation regarding a take out order I thought. Twenty five minutes later I arrived. The guy comes forward. He NEVER entered the order. Something about me not staying on the phone. I have no idea what that meant. No food!!! Are we so wrapped up in technology that this guy didn't know how to actually interact with another human? Inside the place was all terminals. They actually can't relate! I'm all for convenience. I like internet as much as the next person. Tell me you can't call me back on the phone I just gave you and tell me we need to hold hands digitally! I know people with flip phones, no food for them? I wasn't about to reorder there. This place is great. As someone young who's from West Islip, I'm not surprised by some of the negative reviews in the area. It's not your run-of-the-mill Mediterranean they're used to; like a diner souvlaki, or gyro you get from a fair once a year. I feel a lot of these people only think there's two categories for Mediterranean; Greek and cart halal. This is not that, but it is undoubtedly authentic, and phenomenal. I ordered a build your own falafel wrap with the works, toume, veggies, etc. I'm a huge falafel fan. Best Mediterranean in the area. Hands down. Try it you will not be disappointed (might actually develop a slight addiction). Ingredients are extremely fresh and you feel GREAT after (as compared to other places that are too greasy etc.) I am vegetarian so everything I've had from here has been falafel based. This just popped up on Seamless so I tried it cos I love this Lebanese food and thats the vibes I got reading the menu. The best Lebanese food I have ever I had was in Ottawa, Canada and Astoria and let's be honest that's way too far. Anyway, I AM SO HAPPY THIS PLACE EXISTS ON LONG ISLAND!! I ordered the chicken platter with baba ganoush, tabouleh, and mujadara with garlic sauce aka 'toum'. Believe it or not but it's very hard for a place to get garlic sauce 'right' and this place GOT IT. Divine. Chicken was tender and well seasoned, tabouleh was good and authentic tasting but a lil watery which happens due to the ingredients so not a huge deal to me. I got my husband the steak platter with white rice, house salad and hummus with spicy tahini sauce. He preferred the mujadara over the white rice but who wouldn't, white rice is boring. We also got the falafel which is the best falafel we've tried and we've tried ... A LOT, soooo delicious. Steak wasn't dry, also well seasoned. Finally, we split the musakhan snack wrap (Chicken, caramelized onions, sumac, and olive oil rolled in a wrap) UGH SO GOOD!! I would have smeared the garlic sauce inside if I had tried it before the snack wrap - but you can do that by building your own pita sandwich. Overall, I highly recommend Taheni if you're a fan of Lebanese food. Don't go here expecting gyros and typical Greek fare which you can find literally all over Long Island - come here for an authentic Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food.
