I guess you have to ask for a small container of tomato sauce with it ... that would be wonderful with the calzone. The Greek salad was disappointing. Grandma slice is great, regular slices are huge, and my husband is obsessed with the chicken francese. The lunch specials come with garlic knots and a soda included and are a huge portion. So I have made it a bucket list thing to do to find some of the best pizza on Long Island. So just after having some not so good pizza I went down W. Hoffman , Lindenhurst and came across this small little pizzeria. I have to say I love the vibe and for a place with no inside dining, Just pick up your food and go or sit just outside. So in reviewing this pizzeria I was quite pleased with the pizza. Small crispy crust, great taste and not at all doughy. I give it an 8.3 on the Barstool rating system which is my 3rd highest so far. I would definitely go back again and also would try some more f the specialty pizzas in the glass case. I was a regular customer of Spassos for over a decade. The last time , I called to place and order and mentioned I had a coupon from the South Bay Neighbor for $10 off a 'regular' pie. I asked if it was possible to add pepperoni, the guy taking my order said yes and put in my order for a pizza and a salad with the coupon, and my total was $40. I hung up the phone and was confused by the price, everything is more expensive these days but $50 for a pizza pie and salad before adding the discount seemed like way too much. I looked up the prices online and the total was not making sense, so I called back to ask if there was a mistake. A female employee answered and I politely explained my question. She spoke very quickly and said "he gave you the coupon it's $40" not explaining the prices of the two items I ordered- it was as if she was hearing a completely different question than the one I asked, which was not complex. When I came to pick up my order, I presented the coupon and asked again, politely as I always do, how my order for a pie and a salad was $50 before the coupon. The boy manning the phone who took my order was 5 feet awat and capable of speaking up in case he made an error- but a blonde lady with brown eyes whipped her head around and started aggressively yelling at me - no build up, just off the bat yelling- that it's "common sense" that the coupon I described and now showed these 3 people (like a picture book for those who cannot read) that it only applies to a cheese pie (apparently a cheese pie is described as 'regular' and pepperoni on it is $10 more and I should know that, according to her.) This woman was so aggressive, it looked like it was about to be a pizza shop fight video from one of those twitter fight accounts- with the crazy woman jumping over the counter and people hitting each other with the big wooden pizza peel. I however, have pride in myself as a lady and know better than to chimp out like a feral animal, so I stayed in control and let the boys working and the men waiting in the restaurant have a free show of how to de-escalate when faced with a mentally ill woman who perceives me as an easy target (in New York, where half the population is bipolar schizophrenic, this is a common occurrence.) The blonde woman gave me a huge attitude and said she'll "take the pepperoni off and charge me for a regular" with a nasty, biting tone. I said "thank you," paid, left, and never returned. That was two months ago. I don't know how much money Spassos has made off of me and my family since they opened, but they won't be making any more again. I love this place, I always have. I still take the trip from Levittown to Lindenhurst since the Wantagh location closed. However, the older lady who takes phone orders simply never gets orders right. It is a pain, honestly. Today for example - I ordered (as I always do, and there is always something different wrong) a buffalo chicken pizzette - with the hot sauce on the side, not on the pie, because one kid likes it spicy and one does not... not only is the hot sauce ON the pie, so I now have a hungry angry kid... but I was also charged for an additional side of hot sauce. I also got a plain slice that was cold. Very frustrating that this one employee just never ever takes orders correctly. It also seems like they changed the blue cheese recently (the taste is different). I also asked for extra of that onnn the pie... I def got no extra at all. I have grown up in Lindenhurst my whole life and I have to admit I didn't love Spassos, so we stopped going for a long time. We were recently over all the pizza spots we had been going to in the area so we figured we would give Spassos a shot since it has been so long. Wow. Not only were we happy with everything, this is our new pizza place ever friday. I would also like to give them the medal for best garlic knots on the island. I have tried garlic knots from so many places just to be disappointed. They are always too dry, not enough garlic, or really just balls of dough. Spassos are perfection, absolutely covered in garlic just how I like it. The pizza is amazing also, my two favorites have to be the white slice and the penne ala vodka slice. A lot of topping with a sturdy crust so everything isnt dropping off as you're eating it. Happy to discover this outstanding place so close to home read more

We drive about 20 minutes just to come get pizza from here, as they are no longer in Wantagh. It's totally worth it. Best buffalo slice everrrr. They are not shy with the chicken on top. If you get it to go and plan on eating it later, ask for a little hot sauce and blue cheese or ranch on the side to dip some of the chicken in. You shall not regret it. Other awesome slices- penne alla vodka, chicken francese, sicilian. Theyre probably all bomb. I love the little pepperoni things they always have at the counter. Theyre always really nice, especially the guy usually working the counter/ovens and in a hat. I think he might be the owner, regardless always a warm welcome when you go inside.
