Lamb Shish kabob over rice. Nicely grilled, with surprisingly flavorful white rice. Very tasty.

**FANTASTIC TURKISH CUISINE** **A PLACE YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ** ONE OF THE BEST WAYS What's a great way to search out, and experience exciting and unique ethnic restaurants? Well, Yelp of course! That's why we're all here, sharing our experiences, right? But hands down, one of the best ways to get the down-low on one of these ethnic establishments, is to speak with individuals who hail from that respective country. So then, when six different friends and acquaintances of Turkish ancestry, all informed me that I needed to visit Pasha, I knew I had to search it on Yelp, and get my ass over there, to see what all the fuss was about THAT MAGIC TURKISH GRILL When entering Pasha, the first thing you'll notice is the open style kitchen, and that magical grill, right next to the spinning gyro. And I'm really not sure if it's the way Pasha prepares their meats, or if it's something special about this grill, or the grilling technique itself - hell, maybe it's all these things. But what I do know for sure, is that anything placed on this grill tastes and smells absolutely phenomenal. And so what this all means is, even something as simple as a plain grilled chicken platter, will be one of the best things you've ever stuck in your mouth. I promise. YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE.... Every individual that recommended Pasha, insisted that I had to order the Iskender Kabob Platter, the Adana Kabob Platter, and the Lamachan. And all I have to say about these recommendations is - holy shit! They were right! The Iskender, is lamb doner gyro placed on top of a chopped toasted pita, that's been drizzled with seasoned melted butter. And then, the lamb is covered with a savory delicious spiced tomato sauce, along with some toasted spicy green horn peppers, and Turkish yogurt on the side of the dish. Without a doubt, this is a must order at Pasha, and everyone that has tried it with me, went absolutely nuts after the first bite. For goodness sake, one person after finishing the entire large dish, even ordered a second one to bring home. The Adana Kabob is a mixture of minced lamb & spices, formed into a kabob and then grilled. And after being cooked on that magic grill, it smells outrageously good, the meat is tender, and just a little spicy too. Without a doubt, you have to make a sandwich with it, on the fresh baked Turkish bread that comes with the platter. Last but not least, the Lamachan Turkish pie is a round thin flat bread, covered with minced lamb, beef, and spices, which kind of resembles a thin personal pizza. It comes with sliced fresh tomatoes and onions to place on top, along with lemon to squeeze. So then, what you do with it, is add the extras, squeeze some lemon, fold it in half, and have a party in your mouth. WHAT ELSE IS GOOD? - The chicken grill platter is the best, most flavorful grilled chicken I have ever eaten. - The mixed grill platter, allows you to sample all the different grilled meats, such as the lamb, lamb gyro, chicken, adana, and kofte - all with that fantastic grilled flavor. It's quite a large serving also. - The Corbasi Turkish lentil soup is great on a cold day. - Definitely try the fresh baked Turkish spinach or cheese pies. Flakey and delicious. - Order some Baba Ganoush with a few olives, and a toasted pita to dip. WHATS REALLY SURPRISING With my description of how fantastic the food is here, and how everyone just loves Pasha, you might assume it's a large fancy restaurant. But what's really surprising is, it's a tiny little place, sporting four small tables, and a few isles of Turkish groceries in the rear of the joint. On top of that, you wouldn't be out of line, if you suggested it looks a little dingy inside. But I'll tell you, all of these factors fade away into the background, when you're greeted by the friendly family that takes your order, and then you stick that first bite of terrific Iskender in your mouth. SO WERE MY TURKISH FRIENDS CORRECT? Pasha is not the only Turkish restaurant that offers Iskender, Adana kabob, and Lamachan of course. And so in my travels, I have ordered these dishes at other restaurants, hoping to get that same delicious flavor. But sadly, while I did enjoy what I ate, it just wasn't the same. So yeah, my friends were 100% correct. And so in turn, if you take my five-star recommendation here on Yelp, give Pasha a visit - and order one of the suggested dishes - I'll bet that you'll think I'm correct also.

Food was good. I was expecting the gyro to be more like the gyros I get in Astoria however it had a little fat on it. I think that's it's a little different since it's Turkish. The Turkish bread was sooo delicious.

I was in the area to do some shopping and found this small Turkish restaurant. This is more of a pick up place as the sitting is limited. I ordered a gyro sandwich. I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Specially the with the Turkish bread was really good. Will go back to try other menu items.

Was in the area and decided to give them another shot, I am glad I did, went around 4PM on a Monday evening, got my gyro platter the way I could remember it! The meat being so tender and juicy full of marvelous flavor! The rice tasting so fresh and tasty as well! Washing it down with the last Mango nectar they had makes it taste even better lmao. I wish the food was like this everyday because I would eat here more often! I love when their food is perfect like this.. must be a hit or miss because it's really like day and night. Today was a great day! I wish I got an extra platter to eat later tonight lol

Taïm Mediterranean Kitchen - Farmingdale

I'm torn on Taïm. My feelings fall somewhere in the 3.5 realm and (from what you can see of this…read morereview) I chose to round up, though my reasoning might be a little skewed. Let me explain. I met my buddy here for dinner back in late February before heading to the nearby movie theater. I hadn't known Taïm was so close by (or to be honest, what it even was!) until my Yelp search led me to this location. A little Mediterranean-esque meal sounded good and so we strolled in around 7:45 to a semi-spacious spot with no one else in it. Perhaps it was a bit chilly inside, a tad later for some, or maybe the menu isn't/wasn't as enticing to everyone (I watched a family of 4 walk in and out after reading it over), but whatever the reason, it worked for us. Reading things over on that menu, taim feels a lot like Wild Fig or Hummus Mediterranean, two spots with a similar setup that I find to be superb. In the same bowl (or plate as they call it) manner, you can pick your rice/salad base, protein/veggie, toppings, and then sauce. There was plenty to choose from though I opted for the rice over chicken shawarma with toppings of pickled onion, feta, Kalamata olives, peppers, and a cucumber/tomato mix. I got harissa sauce on the side and it came with pita bread too. My buddy got a similar mixture of things. The price for my plate came to a little over $15 which seemed reasonable enough. Once settled at a seat, I dug into the plate with the zing of the chicken shawarma taking hold along with plenty of spicy/tangy/creamy/fresh flavors coming through as well. The pita was subpar if we're being honest here, but I used it with some of that harissa which helped. Though mostly tasty, the plate did seem a little small and by the time I finished, I probably could have had something else to feel a little more full. So why the borderline review? Honestly, the experience was fine, but as you can kind of tell, nothing about taim really jumped out to me. Interior was basic (with honestly too many stools and not enough seats), price was decent, food was pretty good, and service was ok (the staff seemed a little out of it) so me returning here feels like, at first, a real tossup...unless you throw in that proximity piece. Though it shouldn't really count, the closeness to the movie theater (which I will occasionally visit when meeting up with friends) will potentially get me to come back to a place like this again if I'm looking for a lighter type of meal. So with that in mind, taim may hold a purpose for some when in this area and wanting this type of cuisine. Overall, I think Taïm is nothing necessarily special, but it can serve a purpose with its unique type of food in a location that does not seem to offer up too much else like it. Any competition might eliminate the desire to go here and therein lies the dilemma, but for now, I'll push things north and give taim those four stars if for no other reason than where it is and what's around it. Perhaps more visits (because of cinema closeness) will help to solidify those four celestials, but only time will tell.

ORIGIN: TAÏM (pronounced tie-eem) is the Hebrew word for…read moretasty. The first location opened in New York's West Village in 2005. LOCATION: The Farmingdale location opened in 2023. It is conveniently positioned in a new set back strip mall complex along the popular north-south thoroughfare. AMBIANCE: The interior is large, with high ceiling and many windows. The design is simple and cheerful, with blond wood surfaces and sunny yellow graphics. Not by any means a cozy space, but inviting nonetheless. FOOD and BEVERAGE: The expanding chain offers custom Mediterranean plates and pitas filled with flavorful and vibrant components. I've enjoyed a plate with vibrant green falafel and another one with cauliflower shawarma -- both surrounded by my choice of sides and sauces (see attached photos for component details). A beverage of chilled house-made ginger mint lemonade was the perfect accompaniment. Be sure to add the Baklava! SERVICE: Service is efficient. TIP: A small patio courtyard next to the restaurant allows outside dining during pleasant weather. There are quite a few locations around NYC (12) and one in DC, so good to keep in mind when traveling and looking for a reasonably priced, flavorful, and nutritious quick meal.
