They were as optimistic as I was when ordering food , they checked with me early that morning to make sure party was still on and they went in and cooked some of the best food ever for our party. My husband and I moved to Lindenhurst 2 years ago and so happened to discover this deli in 2022. He was ecstatic because it's a stone through away from our home. And I'll give credit where it's due, their beef barley soup was pretty good. Up until today (4/23/22), he was pretty happy but unfortunately, once I was in (I happen to be Black), the vibe was very unwelcoming. Per my hubby's request, he asked that I order a cheese burger + fries, but was told that the kitchen was closed (1:30 PM). Like really? Folks have lunch between 12pm and 3pm. So that was unfortunate. I ordered something else, and upon arriving home, I asked him to call and asked to order for pick up. Guess what, he was told that it would be ready for pick up in 30 minutes. Hmmm ... I call racism. And I'm not a "woke" person here. Just call it as I see it. Well, we won't be going back there. EVER! And will make it a point to tell everyone we know. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED, UNBELIEVABLE. My family and I have been going to this small deli for years and have never had a problem with them until today. Two older employees were very loudly talking shit about my order and making fun of me because I eliminated certain toppings. It was really unprofessional. If your gonna talk shit at least go in the back where no one can hear you. But really though you need to take into consideration that people have fucking food allergies and could possibly die from it. So think of that before you go and make fun of someone. Besides that you should learn how to properly wear face masks. It needs to cover all of your nose, mouth and chin. Also wear and replace gloves often while handling food. They're the most unorganized deli in the area. 100 million people taking orders running around. Handling food without gloves. The chicken salad is what got him sick. I'm assuming old not proper temperature controlled mayo. I had a bacon and egg the egg was undercooked the bacon was rubbery and not good at all. It's really terrible. And really overpriced. Worst experience ever!!! I was treated as an outsider in my own neighborhood. I was standing patiently before 4 other patrons entered the establishment. The first two were greeted and serviced immediately as I still stood waiting to be greeted. A woman then came to the counter ( this woman saw me standing before anyone entered) and looked me in the eye before asking myself as well as the woman behind me who's next. Before I answered she proceeded to take this woman's order. I then interrupted them, begged for pardon from the patron as I explained that I indeed was next in line and am ready to place my order. I said I would like a wrap, but before I could further explain, she walked off again. When I inquired as to whether there was lettuce and tomato she answered "you didn't ask for that". I replied " you didn't give me the opportunity as you walked off before i could finish". When I spoke to a friend from the neighborhood and explained what happened, he was already aware of this deli and had a similar experience. Irony was the one thing we have in common. Our appearance. They have a "hate 2 wait" service which I choose to use since they are always packed but sometimes you WAIT even though you texted or called in. Which then the egg sandwiches are cold. If I could leave negative stars I would! I am disgusted at the service I received today. I work nearby at The KIA dealership and we (My co workers, managers and I) orderly constantly sometimes two times a day being we work long hours. I placed an order today and was quoted 15-20 minutes. I always give it an extra five minutes. I get there 25 minutes after ordering to be told that my food was not ready yet because the grilled chicken needed another 5 minutes to cook. A little frustrated that they hadn't called me to give me the heads up I simply said ok not a problem. They then took another 25 minutes to make two wraps with the grilled chicken. I kept trying to grab someones attention but nothing I was looked right passed as they took more orders and I watched people get their food before mine after they had ordered and waited ten minutes for it. The employee comes to the counter with my food and cracks a joke about how "I've spent my entire lunch break with them today". This is what struck my nerve. The audacity he had to make that joke after I was inconvenienced as is. I replied that I was extremely upset at how long it took without a phone call or a check in and as I'm walking towards the door I hear "Bitch". Unbelievable. I am not sure whether it was a customer standing there that only heard part of my situation or the worker but I will never be returning.
