Once again, I found myself hungry in Patchogue. Looked for "best food near me," and found this place! Well, actually I didn't, at first, but I called and a kind woman told me they were in the other shopping center. I went in the wrong direction. It's a small, very clean space with a few tiny tables and no restroom. The lady at the counter asked if it was my first visit, and I said yes. She said, "I will give you samples!" The lamb has wheat (breadcrumbs), so I didn't try it, but the chicken was amazing! And the rice was delicious. I wanted a Greek salad, but the chicken was SO good, flavorful without heat, just spice, that I ordered chicken with salad instead, and fries. Generous portions--I ended up taking a lot home--and yummy. The fries were crispy. Will absolutely return! Wonderful find! This was my first time here, and I was so impressed of how friendly the owner was. It was lunchtime and it was pretty busy, but he took the time to say hello and bring us some samples to try. I ordered food yesterday from this place for the first time.. and I usually avoid halal restaurants on LI, because the food is never fresh. Ordered from here because the ratings were so high, but was completely disappointed. My food was old. The rice were stale and hard, the chicken tasted old.. I could tell it was marinated days ago and probably reheated for my order. My mom even took a bite and said it was bad. Honestly, I am not surprised. Long island sucks in terms of halal food. They charge all this money to give you stale reheated food. I wasted $20 bucks on one take out plate, which will go in the garbage. read more

Hidden gem! Family owned and operated. They offer free samples. I've been twice and both times I ordered the falafel over salad. They cook the falafel fresh while you wait. The falafel was hot, crispy and delicious. The couple that own it are very welcoming and friendly. Not exactly an eat-in place but there are a few small tables if you'd like to stay. I've been lucky to try Halal in some of the best places in New York City. I've had people recommend carts hiding down alleys and with lines going down the block. Do I know what's authentic or what's traditional? No. But I know what tastes phenomenal and makes me feel like those carts used to. This places is a must if you're new to the area. It's also a must if you're a transplant out of Brooklyn or you are working more from home and miss the carts in NYC. Their food is fantastic. It takes a bit to get but everything is made fresh or as close to fresh as they can make it. The owners are there pretty much every day breaking their backs for their customers. This is my 3rd time ordering from here and it is by far the freshest and tastiest halal food I've ever eaten. Have you ever had the chicken at most suffolk county halal restaurants? It is very red and if you have the displeasure of eating it without the white or hot sauce, it tastes like absolutely nothing. At Flame, the chicken still looks and tastes like prefectly seasoned chicken with or without the added sauces. Their chicken and gyro meat are juicy, not overcooked from sitting all long in some warming tray. Everything is made fresh and the people (presumably the owners) that work there, are so kind, and always offer a sample to try if you say you're new to their restaurant. My daughter had the lamb gyro. I had the lamb over rice. Very fresh, tender and juicy meat. When he asked how it was my daughter said it was different than she was used to. I've been hunting for good halal since I moved to Suffolk. Most of the places I've tried ranged from bad to mildly edible. Luckily, I found Flame Halal Gyro and it stands miles above the rest. My usual order at any halal place is lamb over rice, with half rice/half salad, white sauce, and hot sauce. I've gotten the same thing in various boroughs for about 20 years. Up until now, my favorite place was a food truck on 86th street in Brooklyn. I have to say, that's changed. The white sauce at Flame Halal Gyro is creamy and light, while the hot sauce gives off a tang that compliments the spiciness. If I had to compare the hot sauce to a well-known brand, I'd say Valentina. The lamb is soft and well-seasoned, while the veggies are fresh. In fact, their food is so good that my 5-year-old daughter (a child who refuses to eat anything even resembling sauce) will scarf down a huge portion of the lamb over rice with white sauce. Her food usually lasts a few days, though, because they give a substantial amount for the cost. On top of all that, the service is second to none. The husband-and-wife team that runs the restaurant is sweet and incredibly invested in how their patrons enjoy their food experience. While I was there, I was offered a taste of their new Butter Chicken dish - something I've never seen any other small establishment do. (It was glorious, by the way.) I cannot recommend Flame Halal Gyro enough. If you do go, though, keep in mind that it's a very small place with minimal seating. So, if you have a large party, it's better to take the food to go. read more

The shawarma, kebabs, and Kofa are all extremely flavorful and delicious. All of the menu items are very fresh and delicious. The falafel was also delicious (it's not easy to find good falafel surprisingly ). When I'm in the mood for some good food, this is where I go. The food was cooked in a timely manner. There will be no need to wait long. A good portion for a fair price. This restaurant satisfied my appetite for Middle Eastern cuisine. Now if you look at my reviews, I don't live very many and I don't leave good ones but in this case you need to know that this is made with love. it is very nicely done. In fact, I would say, definitely is better than any of the other ones I've tried by a long shot and it's so fresh that I had to keep part of it in the fridge for two days and when I took it out, it was still fresh! So that goes to show they definitely use fresh ingredients.
