After almost 3 years since it opened, I finally tried Halal Hut. I'm upset I didn't try it sooner because it took me back to those late nights in manhattan in my hey day. Their fries are so good and very cheap for the amount you get. I loved their brown thin rice bowls. I had their chilli chicken bowl and I was very impressed. I can't wait to have it again. It's just annoying that you have to pay for a "local business fee" when ordered online. They justified it by saying it helps lower costs. So we pay almost 10% fee to lower our cost? Why not just not charge the fee? Really stupid so next time I'll probably just order there. read more

Before I start this bad review first and foremost I want to say I have nothing against the people who work here, I myself am a Muslim. On November 28th I ordered the usual chicken over rice with hot sauce. The next day I had an unbelievably high fever and food poisoning. It nearly sent me to the hospital early in the day. I will never recommend this place to anyone mainly because it's just really oily, which isn't good for you, they 100% use seed oils as would any other small franchise. Visited Hala hut for the first time and I was impressed by how good their gyros were. After a long day of work, I found myself craving a nice spicy and plentiful gyro spot. Some gyro spots tend to cheap out on their quantity but Halal Hut was on point! They most certainly do not cheap out on quantity. I ordered their famous spicy chicken gyro. First off, I would like to give a huge thank you to the gentleman that hooked us up with these fantastic gyros. I stopped by there a few minutes before they closed but the gentleman working did not miss the opportunity on creating such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Their spicy chicken packs a lot of flavor! It's not too spicy I promise you but it delivers! Suckling, juicy chicken mixed with their amazing toppings. I recommend getting the feta cheese, which is an extra few cents more, the chick peas, their house salad and the tomatoes packed and stacked high! Easily 2 people can eat one gyro but I'm a man that loves his food so I piled them high and had it all to myself haha! Everything was delicious and plentiful! Came here for حلال food, the service was good and friendly. No rush at the time as well. Only one star off because the music was on for a halal establishment. The Philly cheese steak was good, would recommend putting more sauce in it so it's not as dry. My friends has a chicken burger and we're satisfied by it. We enjoy Halal, so we decided to try this place tonight. Walked in to a clean, small store front with a handful of tables to stay and eat. The drink refrigerator in the corner provides limited choices of soda, diet, and water, and I believe iced tea. They also have fruit punch and lemonade on tap. We were quickly greeted and served by a very friendly and helpful employee at the counter. My husband ordered a 5 piece chicken with fries. Chicken pieces were small, but he said one of the best Halal fried chicken he has had. I ordered the protein over rice. I was looking forward to trying the cod and was advised they no longer serve that. Disappointed, I settled for the gyro (lamb) meat. I'm very basic, so I only topped it with peppers, onions, and hummus, no sauce. While very flavorful, it was warm to cold. The rice was also very flavorful. The hummus was creamy and fresh and had a kick of pepper to it. Next time, I'd like to try the chicken as well as the shrimp. We will absolutely return. read more

Delightful addition to the halal scene on LI. Super clean and friendly staff, you walk into a Chipotle concept. Choose your base, choose your meat, choose the toppings and enjoy! I chose a combo of grilled chicken and sweet chili chicken over white rice, with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and white sauce (wonder where I could've gotten that combo from...) Overall it was good! The chicken was nice and juicy, the sweet chili variety had a pleasant burn. Everything meshed well together and for the amount of you get, totally worth the amount you paid. I'm just going to start by saying I couldn't finish my plate of food and I consider myself a person who can eat more than the norm. I ended up ordering the grilled chicken over rice with assorted toppings and white sauce. The chicken was very fresh and tender. Compared to shah's which can be a hit or miss of dry wet meat. Also ordered another plate with cod and shrimp, man was it on spot. The portions were very, very generous. Definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area. Ive frequented halal joints in the area for the past 7 years or so. I've compared to Shah's, Hamza, and Zaiqa Halal. Each has their strength so I still go to all of them just depends on what I'm feeling -- but I'd say Halal hut is one of the better ones and is excellent for portions/being fast while still tasting good and hitting that halal craving. I've only had their platters, getting the combo (spicy and/or grilled chicken, and lamb gyro) with half white/half brown rice. I get everything + hummus/white sauce/No.5 sauce with spicy cilantro and spicy chili on the side (I like my platters saucy). Will update if I ever get around to trying their fried chicken/other dishes, but I've really enjoyed the platters personally. Portions to price ratio is the biggest strength, with a lot of meat provided and also veggies/toppings if you'd like. Compared to shah's, hamza, and zaiqa, they give bigger and more consistent portions. When I think about being full after eating, the price of this place per pound beats any fast food joint you can think of and they prepare the dish faster. Meat-wise, I'd say the quality of the lamb gyro is on par with Hamza, with nice larger chunks (somedays they cut it smaller). Uniquely, they have a spicy and grilled chicken type, they are both tasty and neither are too spicy. I'd say to go for the spicy one if you want a bit more zest/saltiness. The taste is different compared to Hamza/Shah's 'red' chicken, but more solid of a meat , larger chunks. Rice-wise, uniquely they have two different types of rice a brown seasoned and white one. I like them both and get half and half. Taste is also good. I'd say that compared to other halal places like Shah's, Hamza, or Zaiqa, the taste and sauces are perhaps a little different compared to what you might find as traditional halal cart/joint, whatever that may mean to you. Tip: It's kind of tucked right next to the BaskinRobbins/Dunkins so it'll seem like you're parking there. read more

I highly recommend this place! I am new to Halal food but I had it once a few years back and did not like my experience since my food was drenched in white sauce and was super heavy. Here at The Halal Hut, you have a simple menu with choice of pita bread, over rice or a salad. Then you get to choose your protein, toppings and sauce. My boyfriend had chicken over rice while I tried the pita bread with chicken and roasted veggies (super delicious!) I got the white sauce and spicy chili sauce with my pita bread, kind of spicy but it balanced out the meal. We also tried their fries, which was super crispy and fresh. They also really give you your bang for the buck, they PACKED my pita bread that it was overfilling and couldn't be wrapped (can't complain though!) :) Needless to say, I enjoyed my experience here. Greetings Yelpers, James at the counter was welcoming, friendly & more than accommodative to answer any questions. Venue was super clean & the ambiance of decor was simple & modern. On to the food... My order consisted of a spicy chicken & lamb combo over 1/2 brown rice ( needs more flavor) 1/2 salad. Toppings were peppers & onions, tomatoes , chick peas & corn/black bean call it salsa. Meat was plentiful & the spicy chili chicken was good but meats were a bit overpowered by the sauces. The lamb was also on the bland side. The Tzatziki sauce was more like a ranch which is not a favorite of mine. It lacked any relation in taste to a Tzatzki sauce. The masala fries were fresh & crispy but a bit salty & less masala like. The parsley covered pita paired well with the hummus which was on point. The #5 sauce paired well with the fries. Will definitely try again & experiment more of a balance between meats & sauces. By no means was the food in anyway bad nor was it outstanding but it is worth exploring other menu options as well. 3 Stars to start for food & 5 stars for service, cleanliness & Covid adherence. Customer service is super friendly and informative here and the portions are huge! I got a combo platter with brown rice: spicy chili chicken was delicious and the gyro was plentiful although it could've been sliced a tad thinner. They offer a ton of sides like bean salad, roasted broccoli, roasted onions and peppers, tomato, cucumber, chickpeas, etc. and lots of sauces to douse your meal with. It's flavorful enough as is but I did try the standard white sauce, their cilantro sauce, and the chili sauce. Next time I think I'll just stick with one! Amazing food! The difference between this and other halal establishments is how fresh the ingredients are. Everything tastes amazing because of the clean ingredients. The food is amazing in taste. I tried their platter with chicken and lamb gyro. Their hummus is delicious and not oily. Fried chicken was also flavorful. I ordered both their lemonade and fruit punch because both were refreshing. This spot has recently opened, I am unsure of the previous location. I see reviews here from years ago. Walking in, we were greeted cheerfully by the staff. The proteins were all covered in the steam table, but they lifted up the tops to show what each proteins look like. It was a nice build-your-own plate similar to subway system. I've eaten here several times after previously patronizing another local halal place which was very good - but this place is better. I can't speak as to much of the menu because I get the same thing every time (gyro on pita with hummus, lettuce, cucumber, onions, feta, #5 sauce), but MAN is it delicious! The staff are always very attentive and friendly, the place is always clean, and the portions are ridiculous. I can't believe how much meat they pile on considering the relatively low prices. I got an over rice platter with brown rice, grilled chicken, spicy chicken, corn and beans, extra tomatoes, extra peppers, extra onions, lettuce and extra tomatoes with red and white sauce. I called them and asked if they had any deals. The manager told me to just come in and they'll give me half off my meal. I got the spicy chili chicken and the sweet BBQ beef while my date got the lamb and grilled chicken. I was a fan of them having broccoli as a veggie option since broccoli is my favorite vegetable. I have went here multiple times to pick up a to-go order, and multiple times the staff have not even said a word to me. Not a Hi how are you? Not a have a nice day, nothing! I love this place! My favorite part really is their staff! There's a gentleman who works here who is such a nice guy, definitely helps to brighten up my lunch break. The food is great! I get chicken over rice, most days, with salad-lettuce tomato cucumber and chickpeas. You can get different meat and have it over salad as well or in pita bread. Great "white" and "red" sauce which is just yogurt sauce and sort of spicy hot sauce. The chicken is so well seasoned that when I was trying to eat a little healthier I could have that over salad and not feel like I was completely missing out on flavor/experience when I didn't get the rice as well. This place is awesome! Great halal food. Eating vegan in Long Island can be difficult but not here. The falafel is vegan and all of the toppings!
