Okay 5 stars is strictly for the bhindi masala. It was the best I've had in years! It was a perfect ratio of okra to onions. It had red and green peppers, cooked to perfection! Each bite was divine. I ordered it desi hot, and it was perfect! I can't say enough about how good it was. I will say that it didn't reheat as well though. Okay onto the place, it hasgreat bones, nice artwork, they had cloth table coverings... but then they covered them with paper, and served the food in to go containers and paper plates! I went for lunch with my coworkers. Ordered a combo plate, couple of curries and garlic naan. They had the right amount of spice and tasted pretty good. i haven't been here in a while but it seems like the place is still doing well, there was a constant stream of people in and out on a thursday night. i'm happy that they still do a restaurant like table service even though they're primarily a takeout place so i was happy we could sit and relax. the food here has definitely changed since i was here last, a little heavier and a little saltier. it was not bad by any means but i might ask for less sauce on the kati roll next time and it seemed a lot oilier than i remember. the extra sauce on it dripped down and made the wrap a little soggy. overall still good and i would still be willing to try their other stuff. If you don't mind eating from a paper plate but want good quality Indian food this is the place. We have been coming here for years and hasn't lost its quality. Try everything on the menu you would not disappointed. I like their kulchas and naan's. I always get the chicken tikka masala or spinach with cheese. There is only one waiter but service is quick. I come here regularly to get the nyc styled halal chicken over rice. I've gotten a lot of halal food in flushing and nyc in the past and am pleased that this opened up in my neighborhood. The fam and I had a remarkable evening at The Clay Oven after a colleague recommended this lovely restaurant. While the establishment is small and more akin to a fast food establishment in terms of the layout, I can assure you that the food is everything but fast food-grade; The Clay Oven has excellent quality, flavor, and copious amounts of food for a price that is quite a steal! The service was attentive and friendly -- plenty of smiles to spare -- and not once were they not ensuring that our satisfaction was met. They advised us to come down Saturdays for their buffet at a cost of 11.95 (if I recall correctly); given the varieties they offer in their menu... I will certainly have to take them up on this suggestion! The cuisine they offer is, by and large, one of my most favorite, which is to say that I'm definitely comparing them against some of the best I've had. I was really craving Indian food and came by Clay Oven. I was starving so just ordered without really looking at the reviews. Well it was DELICIOUS. I ordered the Chicken Makhni, garlic naan, and vegetable samosa. The price was fair and the portion was generous - I had leftover for a second meal. I am so happy I found this gem so close to my place, will definitely come back. The only thing is that the online ordering process was a bit confusing (i didnt know I was getting a SINGLE samosa, though it was a large one), I didnt realize that the "white meat" option was that I was substituting the entire meat as white meat, and it didnt tell me when my order would be ready so I got there too early. read more

Prices up, portions down. Been going here for several years and always loved the food . Went recently for takeout and discovered all the prices increased. When I opened the food at home there was so little rice in the dish I actually didn't even see it at first and thought they forgot to add it. I had to shuffle the lettuce that they use as filler to find the smallest portion of rice I had ever seen. They use to give very generous portions. As I entered the restaurant I noticed a large red leather couch and blasting music coming from the back. Next to the couch was a pile of supplies and odds and ends. It reminded me of a well lit strip club. I didn't know if I should order a lap dance or a samosa. I went with the samosa. The staff wasn't the most pleasant and didn't even return our hello or thank yous. The food wasn't great and wasn't awful. It was Cold when we brought it home after a 5 minute drive which leaves me to believe it wasn't hot when I received it.
