Fresh, delicious, authentic dishes. Portions are good, food has great flavor. Good for dine in, ideal for takeout. I come here for lunch often and love everything I've ordered so far. My favorite dish are the Ragda patties (appetizer dish made with potatoes, smothered in delicious sauces... think loaded tater tots with an Indian flare). I was so excited to finally dine here. I had eagerly taken many walks past the restaurant while it was under construction. When my husband and I arrived, we were warmly greeted and seated by the owner, Singh. He took the time to answer my dietary questions and offered helpful recommendations. The space is small but beautifully decorated--Singh shared that his wife was responsible for the design. The food exceeded my expectations, with the butter chicken being my favorite dish. Lucky enough to walk into a table for 3 on a Saturday night. They take reservations which I highly recommend as there isn't a large amount of seating. Ordered the samosa chaat. Nice blend of various sauces, chickpeas, and some samosas underneath. Entree was the goat curry. Friends got the butter chicken and chicken tikka. All the curries were rich in flavor.They each come with rice. Garlic naan and cheese naan were a must. Everything was spectacular. Large portions, fresh and hot. I know they have been open for a little while and finally bit the bullet and took the 50min drive out to grab takeout here. This easily secures a spot on my top 5 Indian spots. While not number one, a good 2 or 3. Ordered chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, dal makhani, saag paneer, garlic naan, cheese naan. Since did take out didn't really do any pictures. Cheese naan was the only disappointment as didn't see any cheese on it at all. Maybe they gave the wrong one. Garlic naan was great. For the first time in the history of eating Indian food I did not have to add salt to any of the dishes! It's a miracle! They lived up to the name. Art of spice. Foods were seasoned very well. Tikka was sweeter than usual but creamy and delicious. Overall impressed. All dishes exceeded expectations. If going to be overly picky, saag was a bit too blended. Flavor was there though. Welcome to the neighborhood..we were happy to welcome an Indian restaurant to Patchogue! Located on a strip just south of main street on ocean avenue. A plus is they have a back door to the municipal parking lot. Bon and we're anxious to try this new Indian restaurant so when the opportunity arises off we went. Typical of the restaurants on the block it's a small space with maybe 6 tables. We called for rezzy but we're told to just come in. We arrived 4:30 and by 5:30 all the tables were full..so beware as there is no waiting area. We were welcomed by the sole server and seated immediately. We perused the rather small menu and chose Gobi Manchurian as our appy. Was tasty but carried a high price point for an appy.(see bill in pics). Our mains were Chicken Tikka Masala and Goat Curry. The limited menu had no selections of sides to add..disappointing! The food was delish but with the limited choices expensive...But if you have the hankering..Def give this place a try.. read more

Art of spices is located in the vibrate upcoming party city of Patchogue, Long Island. Bringing you some authentic flavors of South Asia. My journey started with their Samosa Chaat and Gobi Manchuran. Packed with flavor and sauces from the East. The sauce on the Gobi was flavorful with a sticky finish. Next we tried their garlic naan and butter chicken, both very delightful. I was expecting a little more kick to it but the flavors of the spices all complimented the dish. Our server Singh was fantastic! Made some suggestions and we definitely took his word for it! The white rice that came with the butter chicken was light and had a grainy taste to it, didn't taste like Basmati rice but still worked well together. Art of Spice on South Ocean is amazing Indian cuisine ran by the nicest family. Very authentic. I lived in England for a year and it is comparable to the fine Indian I was introduced to there. I came on a recommendation from a friend. Celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary with my wife, we chose Art of Spices and was not disappointed. The wine (a red cabernet) was excellent. Good beer too. The food came out quickly and was served hot. Singh, the owner was professional and very friendly (a great guy). I had a mango lassie that was out of this world in flavor, rich smoothness. The Samosas appetizer was to die for that was beyond delicious with savory spices and chutney. Our food was mildly to medium spiced. I had the Goat Biryani that was perfectly made. The Chicken Tikka Masala was super tasty with hints of coconut that makes you dip the fresh made garlic naan bread into the sauce. Most authentic Indian food in the area. Singh the owner and staff were super friendly. The atmosphere is clean and bright with beautiful mural artwork evoking the spirit of India. I got takeout from Art of Spices and sorry to say that my phone did not eat first so I have no photos to share of my glowing review. I LOVE Indian cuisine and it's ridiculously hard to find a good reliable spot close by...until now. Being the first time I ordered, I stuck to vegetarian options. I got samosa chaat and tadka dal and an assortment of naan. The samosa is not like any I have had and I was initially like wtf is this but it was 1000% delicious as was the dal. The flavors are complex, layered, and on point. I was so excited with every bite! The naan is just naan - nothing to write home about but obv a must have at every meal. I am so happy to have found this wonderful restaurant and I am looking forward to my next meal! read more

Good food. Prices are high for what you get. I ordered the Vindaloo which is supposed to be hot, very hot, and she asked me if I wanted it mild, medium, or spicy. Not a good sign. I get it, they have to cater to the local clientele, but I didn't order Tikka Masala, I ordered Vindaloo. Anyway, the flavors were all there but the sauce was closer to a masala flavor instead of any Vindaloo I've had, and nowhere near as spicy as I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, the food was good and the quality was there, and I will try them again, maybe for some Saag Paneer and request extra spicy Vindaloo. Also, weird, no lamb on the menu. read more

Amazing food. The Samosa Chatt (dish to the side) was a particular favorite, it was a different preparation from any samosa I've had before and one I vastly preferred. I enjoyed the Aloo Gohbi (pictured front) and I'm not sure what my boyfriend got but I tried it and it was great as well. The garlic naan and mango lassi were delightful as well. (They cook to preferred spice level, even mild is spicy to me - so pro tip for us mild spicers - the mango lassi helps cut the spice.) My Boyfriend is the authority on Indian cuisine in our relationship and has had it in the best places in Queens, the best rated in London, at many local places and a friend of the family and he stated this was the best he's had. So, I got to be the proud smug girlfriend who found the place :) Overheard the customers around us and they also declared it authentic and kept saying how good it was. As for service and ambience, service was fantastic, ambiance was nice, it's a small intimate restaurant and doesn't have many tables. It's a little bit off the main strip in Patchogue (across from James Joyce), so it doesn't get as much foot traffic, we had no wait to sit at one of the last two tables, soon after we arrived all the tables filled. It definitely hasn't quite been "discovered" yet and most definitely is worth being discovered. I hope the business keeps up the quality of the food (kudos to the Chefs) and would love to see it flourish and expand, it's definitely worthy. Food quality probably a 5 but including my personal tastes a 4. Service was a 4.5. Kind of slow but it's just one person doing everything. He was super nice. Gave us some free desserts. Chicken tikka masala - flavor could be a tad bit stronger but really not that big an issue. Most tender chicken I've ever had at any Indian restaurant ever. So good. The chicken was smoked before it's put into the masala sauce and I didn't like that smoky bit. We also ordered an eggplant entree which was very good but also too smoky flavored for me. But that's just my personal irk. We also ordered the Manchurian gobi cauliflower dish and that was SO good. My favorite. But honestly the best part is the how big the servings were for the price. Chicken biryani is so so good. Loaded with spices. They asked if I wanted it spicy or regular and I said spicy cause I like the heat and it was great! My only complaint is their prices. plastic round container for $24.00. I pay $14.00 at the clay oven which is also good but art of spices is amazing.
