Grabbed some soup while on the mend from Pita House. While shacking up at my parent's house for a few days, I decide I would go pick up some soup at one of their local Mediterranean spots. Ordering over the phone was quick and easy. And when I went in with Bubs to pick up and pay I found a cute dining area inside. A lot bigger than what I expected. Staff were nice and welcoming and even said hi to Bubs. When I brought the chicken lemon soup back to my parent's I was pleasantly surprised. Huge chunks chicken, carrots and mushroom were swimming in my delicious soup. Mom stole some from me...It was very tasty and I would definitely order it again. A large is about $8 when you pay with a card. My only critique is that it was a tad oily. I normally wouldn't mind, but your girl's lack of gallbladder sometimes does. read more

I really enjoy the food at Pita House and the friendly service makes this a fine place to dine

I went out of my way tonight to get a large Greek salad from Pita House , as i was a frequent customer at the Setauket location when it was in business. I ordered the large Greek salad which came to $15. What i received was a large aluminum dish with all lettuce , 3 thin slices of cucumber and tomatoes a little larger than a quarter , a little crumbled feta and oil dressing. Come on guys! Should have gone to Zorba or Gilshar and not gotten ripped off. Shame on you. Horrible value. read more

We wanted to try some other food outside of seafood in Long Island, so we came here to try out their Mediterranean dishes. The interior has a warm, family-owned business-like vibe. It is great for groups and when you're in the mood for some Mediterranean delights. Service is great, the staff were very attentive to our needs, laid out the specials for the day, and shared their recommendations which worked out nicely for us. Within my party, I was the most experienced in terms of Mediterranean/Turkish cuisines (they have virtually none), so I am rating solely from my point of view. We started off with the Baba ganoush with pita bread which was good but I wouldn't say it really stood out from other spots that I have tried before. It is a safe and tasty choice. I had ordered the Manti, and I really enjoyed it, they came out in cute, bite-sized portions like gnocchi but stuffed with lamb and glazed over with yogurt and spicy sauce - in my past, I am used to Manti being much larger. For our main dish, we had ordered the Anatolian Special which comes out in a huge spread of lamb gyro cuts, adana and chicken kebabs, lamb chop, and bulgur rice on the side. These were grilled very well, lamb chops were absolutely delicious, the adana kebab and lamb gyros went very well with the minty yogurt sauce with bulgur rice on the side. I highly recommend this dish if you want an assorted selection! Unfortunately, we ran out of time and were not able to try out their Baklava, hopefully, we can come back to try again. read more

Awful! I moved to this area 2 years ago and have yet to have a good Gyro. This place is the worst. Cardboard has more flavor than the meat in this thing. I asked for no onions :LOADED with onions. Damn good soup! Not that I normally get excited over soup.But on a raw, dreary day away from home Pita House was an awesome find. The Turkey Orzo soup, simple as it sounds, was banging with the flavors of Turkish spice and tender turkey. My daughter & I split the Zucchini Fritters appetizer. I think they put it in the wrong category as it was entree-sized. Three shredded zucchini patties, breaded, fried and covered with warm yogurt and tomato sauces: it was the best thing I've eaten in a while! The fritters also stuffed us. Had to take our Greek Salad and Lamb Adana gyro (huge) to go. They made great snacks later on. Service was great - friendliest people in the area. I love pita house. Food is always fresh and delicious. The chicken kebabs are my absolute favorite from here. The Greek salad is yummy too. All of the workers here are friendly. Service was good. We started off with the cheese cigar and eggplant in tomato sauce appetizer. Both were delicious. The cigars were crispy and the filling was creamy snd cheesy, a bit salty but normal for cheese cigars. The eggplant was flavorful. The chicken main was delicious. The chicken was juicy and light in flavor. The lamb gyro was okay. It was game tasting g. You could definitely taste the lamb so too much can be overwhelming. Maybe it needed to be cooked more, better cleaned or have extra flavor. The iskandar kabab was a huge disappointment. The breat was soaking wet (see picture). I don't know if they put water on the base of the plate or they didn't toast the bread well enough and just left it sitting on the plate for a while and added some kind of liquid but by the time I got to the table it was really wet it was unappetizing. The sauce on top of the meat tasted exactly like marinara sauce from ajar which is disappointing because usually the sauce is very flavourful on this type of dish. The French fries were very bad. They were thick but they were oily and mushy and overdone. We didn't eat them. Two of our mains cane with salad, which was okay. It lacked a freshness and the olive looked old and pruny. I was dropping off a new car for a client of mine and me and a co worker decided to eat here for lunch. So happy we did, the restaurant was busy and non stop for pick up orders. We sat at the bar and ordered our soups chicken lemon and red lentil soup, green salad and main entrees that were chicken gyro and lamb gyro. Wow so good and filling and the price was just right. So I was at this restaurant last week with a friend for lunch! I posted a review on Google! I wrote about our lunch and how terrible it was! The lettuce was old, in our salad and my friend thought the same . The spinach pie was very dry, and the top was hard and it was hard to cut! Now I used to come to the restaurant and I would tell people how good it was! But this time, I was not happy! And I was shocked that we got charged 1.50 for one extra yogurt sauce and 1.50 for dressing!! I think the waitress should tell you there will be a charge that should be posted on the menu!! Now That being said I posted the comment on Google reviews! And I received a reply from the restaurant! Well I put a picture of the waitress' response, but it's hard to see! This is what she said! She told me I wrote the review in the parking lot ! No I didn't I wrote it in the restaurant lol and she said I was mad because I got charged for the sauce! I wasn't mad. I was shocked!! Yeah we paid for the dressing and the sauce! I found it to be a very poor response of the restaurant! We didn't cheat her on her tip we didn't say anything nasty to her! But yet she took offense! The other day, my wife and I decided to stop in for a quick bite. The restaurant is very large but the service makes the guest feel instantly welcome. The ambiance is warm, bright, and inviting. The menu offers the staples of Turkish food. I ordered the lamb gyro (döner) platter with white rice and a salad. The salad was fresh, the dressing came on the side. The lamb arrived pipping hot. No need to beat around the bush, it was delicious! The lamb was cooked to perfection and the rice was equally as good. As an after dinner treat I ordered a cup of decaffeinated American coffee and baklava. The baklava was good, the coffee not so much. Next time, I am going to try the Turkish coffee. The Takeaways 1. Greeted as we entered by a very friendly waitress who seated us. We love Mediterranean food so I was looking forward to enjoying some delicious treats. We started with the Feta cheese and herb filled Turkish cigars, flakey filo pastr, nice and crisp. We also tried the zucchini fritters. I enjoyed them but my husband prefers lightly dredged and pan friend zucchini. We both opted for a gyro, meat was plentiful and well seasoned. Lots of tzaiki sauce, lettuce, onion and tomato. Having something "different" in the area for me has always led to Pita house. Besides the typical Italian, Mexican, or Chinese for dinner conversation, most of the time the road leads here because of lack of the other options. They've been around forever, and have maintained a respectable reputation. The food is good. It's not great, or anything that will blow the roof off but it's decent food. They're a bit pricey, their portions (protein wise) are sometimes a little light, BUT they're a nice change up once in a blue moon from the same types of food. I don't actively seek them out, and I have 100% had better at other Turkish establishments, but it's decent enough & convenient enough that we'll get dinner from here every few months or so. read more

i never ate liver in my life . i was a litte boy when my mother cooked and i booked. The oder alone was nauseating. My mom needed to incorporate liver and spinach due to iron deficiency and here I am 55 years later knowing my iron levels are low and my doctor tells me to eat liver. So I googled to see where can I go to eat. I was treating this meal like a medicine to tell you the truth. Well the pita house cooked this fried calf liver to perfection and it was mild, tasty and delicious. I didn't know who to thank first my mom that past away over 20 years ago or my doctor or the Pita house. This place is great! Visiting from Florida, and the food, service and atmosphere were all so great, we came back two nights in a row. We often enjoy greek or Lebanese cuisine, so the switch to Turkish flair was both delightful and novel. All the appetizers were terrific- we tried special Turkish dumplings, Turkish "cigars," and a mixed platter of dips. All terrific! I was less thrilled by the dolmas, but everything is clearly homemade, and my son really liked them. The greek salad was excellent, meats and veggies grilled to perfection, and the special stuffed cabbage was a home run. I used to frequent The Pita House almost each weekend en route home from the farm. Their cuisine was consistently exquiste and I was never disappointed with that. However the counter help often messed up my takeout orders. They would forget items, neglect wrapping salads with dressing in plastic and pack incorrect items. The pinnacle of my grave disaapointment came (and this is after I always grossly over tipped) when two male staff were blatantly vulgar and beyond inappropriate.
