Basing this review on the take out we got from while we were at my brother in law. Hubs and his brother went and picked up our take out dinner and I have to say this place is very comparable from what I've had in the boroughs. First, they said the place was quiet and not crowded but the staff looked busy, continuously making food. Hubs also said the place looked very clean. My mixed chicken/lamb over rice was delish. The white sauce was very flavorful and they gave you ample meat and sauce (I did ask for extra white sauce because you should always ask for extra). Another extra was the warm pita but all in all 30 dollars for two platters (guys paid separately) isn't terrible these days. Ordering online was super easy through their website. read more

Who wants Subway? Wait a sec...this isn't a Subway; it's a halal spot! This is exactly what might go through your head if you find yourself in Medford looking for some decent halal combo platters. I mean, that's kind of what happened for my girlfriend and I a few weeks back. We did indeed know that we were looking for Ali's Halal Grill, though it was kind of funny when she said "This is the shopping center where Subway is." Turns out it's where Subway was! Yeah, the interior has that glass display like Subway and the setup of the inside seems like Subway though I promise, this ain't Subway. The walls do have plenty of reminders about the halal choices and the menu is completely geared towards that platter mindset. That's why we had came as we love a good ol' chicken and beef/lamb combo platter and so we figured why not try out this semi-new spot. Well from an employee standpoint, the two fellas behind the counter were definitely friendly and did a nice job in walking us through the different items you could add to your platter (including some sweet peppers that looked very similar to the ones you find at Subway...hmm). I will say there's a little bit of menu confusion as it states platters come with "chopped meat and pita over rice, salad and crispy fries" though the pita and fries portions were no where to be found. We thought about asking, but honestly for $7 and with the amount of food we were getting it wasn't a necessary piece to our purchase...though it's worth mentioning the lack of it as a heads up. For the platter itself, chicken and lamb gyro meat was generously spread across our containers with plenty of rice and salad (those we got) along with the essential white and hot sauces slathered on top. Well, that white sauce wasn't necessarily the exact same white sauce you might find at, say, The Halal Guys as this one tasted more like a dressing of sorts, but it still worked with the meats and veggies. The hot sauce had a decent kick, but no one knocks your mouth out quite like those aforementioned Guys. It was still an enjoyably tasty and filling meal from start to finish. Overall, Ali's Halal Grill did the trick for halal food in Medford. You get the important pieces of a combo platter with plenty of flavor and at a price that matches any halal food truck. There's a good chance we'll return at some point when the platter craving takes a hold of us. Just remember, if you get a Subway craving, you'll have to go elsewhere, unless you just need some Subway ambiance, heh heh. read more

In all of my years yelping I've NEVER came back to review the same place twice, but I feel I'd be doing a disservice by not coming back for this one. I've eaten here close to 10 times since they opened and every single meal has been phenomenal. The service and food is outstanding and I personally cannot get enough of this place. They're always so friendly and thankful for the business which makes it very easy to continue coming back. The falafel & chicken are out of this world. This was my first time trying halal food and I was pleasantly surprised, the chicken had just the right spice and the rice was very tasty. The salad was fresh tasting as well and just the right portion size.
