Was up in the neighborhood and it was near lunch time, so why not? The staff at the Premier Medical building recommended it. It was a good choice. There's free parking, easy access, full bar with top shelf spirits, reasonable prices, catering, and a clean and inviting atmosphere. Tried the traditional Gyro; about equal amounts of vegetables and meat on a soft warm Kontos pita. Filling and satisfying. The staff is professional and cordial. Next time I'm up here I'll try something else on the menu. read more

Full disclosure: this was a DoorDash order. And I don't know why, but on DoorDash, this spot is operating as a ghost kitchen named "Falafel Town." You guys rate well on both platforms, why the smoke and mirrors? You have nothing to hide from! I ordered the grill trio (Mashawai platter), a huge order of seasoned lamb, cubed spicy chicken, and kufta kabab, peppered with delightful seasoned French fries. You can also get basmati rice or fattoush salad, but man, those fries are dynamite. And a huge portion size! Would easily feed two! I also ordered the falafel sandwich, "the works!" This amalgam of tastiness that includes tahini, pickles, parsley, lettuce, tomato, onions, hummus, and hot sauce. A delightful smorgasbord of flavors. The outer wrap was grilled perfectly. Outside of their Doordash identity, this place also offers: hummus dishes, tabbouleh, labnah. Soups: lentil, fattoush. Multiple sandwiches: beef kofta, falafel, lamb, gyro. Veggie platers, beef and chicken shawarma platters. Salads: greek, Arabic, falafel, yum yum, fattoush, tabbouleh. Hudson Valley Falafel. Falafel Town. In person. Delivery. I know this place is top notch. I hope they merge their identities soon. read more

This is a great little middle eastern spot in Poughkeepsie! Ambiance isn't much in my opinion but we have gotten take out quite a few times and would head back! The "NY style" platters are the classic halal street cart style and the rice was fresh and well seasoned. The falafel is bombbbb! I always get a Greek salad but the last two times the lettuce wasn't super fresh which left me just a bit disappointed. Stuffed grape leaves also delicious. My husb loved the falalfel wrap and for $10 it's a great filling lunch option. So glad to have this authentic spot in Poughkeepsie. read more

Food is good but the fact they have quality hookah was the real secret that I didn't know I'd LOVE! They have a cute outdoor area and the service is always wonderful. The waiters are very engaging & the Owner is super nice. The drinks are okay but the hookah makes everything great! Great spot! read more

Great tasting falafel, of course. Quick service as we dined in. There is take out. The falafel sandwich was perfect. The works falafel comes with hot sauce which we asked for on the side. Good call as it might have overwhelmed the deliciousness. They also have a bar. We will be going again. Very nice place right near Mid Hudson hospital and a bunch of Dr offices. Lucky folks to have a good place nearby. Check them out . read more

I didn't even realize this place was in the area. I was looking for something new to try and stumbled upon this spot. I browsed through the menu and saw they offered a New York City style meal and was sold. It reminded me my trips to NYC to get chicken/ lamb and rice with white sauce. I ended up placing an order for the NYC plate after all. It tasted a little different than I was expecting but was very tasty. The meat had a lot of really good flavor and the seasonings used were perfect. It was a pleasant surprise. The white sauce was also lighter than I'd expected but was a nice compliment to the meal. The falafels were huge with a crisp exterior and nice fluffy center. I also ordered grape leaves or Dolma. I don't like the way everyone makes them. These were pretty good. The spices were really on point. The spices are the star in my opinion. I would definitely order food from this spot again. I think I'll try something new next time. read more

Their baba ghanoush is INCREDIBLE. Pita bread also amazing!...so fresh and tasty! I don't live in Poughkeepsie anymore, but I will be driving 15 miles just to get more of that baba ghanoush. Their falafel is also ON POINT. By the way, they are open, and the address is now 136 Parker Ave. They are currently operating out of a food truck. The food is SO GOOD! read more

My absolute favorite food in Poughkeepsie. Love their hummus and chicken shawarma. Falafel is good too.

Stopped in based on other reviews and always glad i did. Nice little place with some good options. I somehow ended up with the Falafel sandwich (I mis ordered), but was treated to a great sandwich. The falafel was moist and had a ton of flavor. The wrap was good and veggies fresh. Ended up happy that I ended up with that option. read more

Surprised at the wonderful interior. Great desert mural punctuated by the wonderful, upbeat middle eastern music. FOOD: an extensive menu for any falafel lover, or Middle Eastern cuisine, lover. Today's special was on falafel's. Due to my allergies, I couldn't try those, but I was surprised and elated that the chef owner was able to put together a dish for me to enjoy without interfering with my allergies. Fantastic. Her nephew provided warm and hospitable service with a smile. On the way out, I picked up some delicacies for a client whose favorite restaurant is falafel house. Highly recommend. This is not just for the hip college set. read more

Located close to Marist College with its own parking. Big and spacious with a clean modern interior. Good and helpful service. The food was very good with large portions. The gyro was good sized and not overly spiced. A small Greek salad was larger than expected and very good. French fries were hot and crisp without asking. Definitely worth another visit! read more

Wow this place is great-I am not from the immediate area but was around and was in the mood for some middle eastern food and lentils. The menu is unbelievable with a fantastic selection--food was prepared fast and the prices are very reasonable for what you get! I got the lentil soup which had a great flavor and was a bit unusual totally puréed and velvety with amazing spices. I also had the mujaddara and it was perfectly cooked and spiced. The portion was generous and I would love to go back to try their other stuff! It came with a nice salad and some fresh pita bread--I suggest checking this place out if you are in the area!! read more

We stopped in for a falafel sandwich, and were a little surprised that they didn't use traditional pita bread and instead made a wrap out of it. Falafel balls were very good, but not thrilled with the tahini-like sauce and there was no hot sauce offered or to be seen. Perhaps the fact that we know what real falafel should be was why our review is 3 stars. read more

Hudson Valley Falafel - Falafel-like wrap. Definitely NOT the real thing :( - Falafel Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

Traveled with hubby from PA to Poughkeepsie. NY for a work engagement that he had. We found a great little Greek restaurant that was so good, Hudson Valley Falafel! We had an absolute feast. We sat at the bar and chatted with the staff who were all so kind and mannerly. The owner even came out of the kitchen and chatted with us and gave us a few falafels on the house! They had the lightest pitas and even sold us a bag! read more

Was craving a gyro and it was about 8 p.m. and this place was listed as open and close so I figured I'd give it a try. $13 for a gyro & fries! Maybe that's a good deal, IDK anymore... What I do know is the fries were soggy and the gyro meat was tough and thick. The pita bread was dry and there was little to no tzatziki sauce either making for a VERY dry eating experience. The people were friendly and that's always nice. I don't know how the rest of the menu is, but based on the gyro, I won't be in to find out. read more

Went here for quick dinner last night with my bf & loved it!!! The decor was modern & clean, the food was amazing!!! So fresh & tasty. The service was soooo kind & nice. Checked up on us a bunch of times & made sure we were ok. Cozy casual ambiance. Before we left, a lady (seemed like the owner) asked us if we enjoyed everything & how the food was ?? Great staff. Wonderfully flavored food. Best lunches in Poughkeepsie since I began working here in '88. Never leave, please!

LOVE FALAFEL TOWN! This little gem completely surprised and delighted my bf and I! - Me (vegan) ordered their Arabic salad which was lemony-mint fresh and delicious! - He (carnivore) ordered the lamb shawarma-- "lightly seared, juicy and tender!" We had the hummus on the side which was PHENOMENAL and a side order of Basmati rice with lentils, which we poured the Arabic salad dressing on and found utterly fantastic!! & Bonus points for homemade hot sauce and creamy tahini! Opted for an Arabic coffee to-go which was extra hot (thank you!) and perfectly sweetened. Danny the owner was especially kind and generous with us (the Baklava is bangin!!! ) and Xavier our server was totally kind and accommodating . We plan to make this our go-to spot whenever making a trip to the Poughkeepsie Home Depot (5 mins away!) Thanks Danny! We love you and your delicious establishment! read more

I love the hummus and the baba ganoush at this place and my favorite meal to order is the Chicken Shawarma. We've gotten the vegetarian meal and everything is good. The only thing is that the falafels are on the dry side. read more

I'd say a 3.5 stars. Ordered a beef schwarma wrap for take out, and I think that it looked and tasted more like a burrito than a wrap. It's grilled on both sides and flattened with tortilla (not pita), there's none of the typical lettuce, tomatoes and red onions that I am use to. The beef was in chunks versus in slices and mixed in with pickled greens. The beef was on the chewier side but the flavors all mixed very well together with the pickled greens. It's a decent spot, but I think I was just expecting more of a pita wrap. read more

I tend to be eager to try new things especially when it comes to food, so when I discovered Falafel Town amidst the sea of ubiquitous pizza, Chinese, and Italian restaurants, I was immediately excited. There are not many Middle Eastern restaurants in the Mid-Hudson Valley, and Hudson Valley in general, so the prospect of new tastes roused my stomach. Even more exciting was the fact that this restaurant appeared to serve Halal food reminiscent to NYC style. I opened the door and was greeted by an incredibly friendly counter clerk and waitstaff. They were eager to help me navigate around Middle Eastern food, and after coming back time and time again, we're on a first name "how's your family?" basis. So why did I decide to keep coming back? Simple; The food quality at this restaurant for the price is nearly unrivalled, and to be quite honest, somewhat unexpected. The smell of fresh vegetables, hummus, and cooking meat permeates the air. At some places, you wonder and hope that the food will be fresh, but when you enter Falafel Town and consistently smell the rich earthy freshness of vegetables and gaminess of meat, you know you're in for something that will teach your stomach a lesson or two; The food is so fresh it's like gastronomic rehab. I should preface now that nearly every dish I'm about to describe is made on the spot from locally sourced and natural ingredients, everyday, including Hummus, Tzatziki, White sauce, etc. Ah yes, the hummus. I never liked hummus until I had hummus made by Falafel Town. Incredibly savoury and silky smooth is the best way to describe it. Chicken and meats are seasoned with an amalgam of fresh herbs and spices, marinated and juicy, put on the grille to order. Falafel is crispy, and probably some of the best Falafel in the Hudson Valley. It's their own recipe. Yellow saffron rice is fresh, hot, and filling. The Baba Ghannoush has the rich smokey taste of freshly roasted eggplant, and the Dolmas are worthy. I grew up eating Dolmas as a child, these are good. The lentil soup with a hint of lemon and black pepper on top is full of flavour and had a rich consistency. Tabbouleh is light and refreshing with a fresh minty flavour in the vegetables that really wakes up your palate. My favourite dish is the M'jadara, which is lentils and rice, served with caramelised onions on top, fresh pita bread, and some pickled vegetables. If you're in the mood for a burger and fries, do not miss the Greek Burger with Feta Fries. Also, come with an empty stomach and be prepared to go to sleep afterwards because it's a decent size. The burger itself is juicy, done right, but the seasoning on the fries with Feta cheese and onions is otherworldly. If you are driving on Route 9 and looking for something new, this is a phenomenal introduction to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. The restaurant itself is tucked in next to a barbershop and deli, and does not face the highway so it's easy to miss, but it's worth the quick swing around at the intersection because it would be a shame if you did. Having another food genre in the Hudson Valley is always good, but when it raises the bar this much, it's in a class of its own. read more

We had falafel sandwiches and fries. I know my falafel and so do these folks. Very good. Fries were extremely crispy and delicious. Service was very good. We were asked if we needed anything and about the food two to three times while we were there. And the water was served with ice. Nice on a hot July day. Bathroom was clean and did not smell bad. Attentive staff. I recommend this establishment. The prices are very reasonable. read more

Went there last year as I was visiting from Brooklyn. I understand they changed the name, but it's the same place otherwise. I was a little disappointed in this place. I got the Beef Shawarma, and it really was lacking in flavor. Shawarma in my opinion is very flavorful meat that is well seasoned. It wasn't terrible, but I was expecting something a little bit more. I have had some amazing shawarma before, and this place just does not stand up to some of the other places that I have been. The rice was lackluster as well; and the falafel was not good to me either. I ate the whole thing, but it wasn't good enough, that I will be making another trip anytime soon. read more

I am going to upgrade Falafel Town to a 5 star stop. Haven't been since the move to the larger (much nicer) space - huge upgrade. Very comfortable and clean. And the menu is larger now too! So we went on a little spree off topic from the namesake falafel, and we were rewarded well for our adventurousness. It's worth mentioning two knockout dishes -- don't miss the hummus and chicken shawarma meal. And even though the name is totally not Mediterranean, the Fiesta Fries are an absolutely delicious spin on poutine. And the service at the place - these people are so nice! If you like Mediterranean, you'd be hard pressed to find better a better flavor/value ratio anywhere around here. Worth the effort to find the place for sure. Marist kids are lucky...they can hoof it here! read more

Hiding in the little strip mall by Marist College, Falafel Town is a little gem. First of all the staff is so so sweet and helpful, both ladies and the blond tall guy., telling us all about the food. We ordered the hummus and tabuli to wet our appetites both delicious. I had the Hummus sharma of lamb with warm pita, so good. My friend had the lentil soup and raved about it, and a plate of M"Jadara, caramelizad onions, lentils and rice, quite nice I must say, though I added a bit of salt..I like salty food. Don't quite understand why we order the rice pudding, we were so full, it was one of the best I have had in a long time, glad we did. read more
