You also get side dishes and sauces and can order some things like: Denjang chigae (soup), salad, corn/cheese casserole and you can continue ordering as needed. The grill was a little confusing to figure out which way to turn for low/high. And it was hard getting service. I think you don't just have 1 server. Everyone help each other but we found it was harder to get servers attention/ good service. Our experience here was amazing. Soo good! Here is the best tip our waitress shared with us at the end of our meal: 1. Come early on weekends! We showed up at 12pm and had the most amazing service because it was not completely packed. The staff was attentive and never did we feel rushed or felt like we were a bother. Our waitress also told us that usually on the weekends they run out of cucumber kimchi by the end of the night. If you want to ensure you have what you want show up early. Our waitress also told us that on weekends the wait time is so long that it's a bummer to wait so long and have limited options. Absolutely disappointing! Went in to celebrate our son's graduation. Sat us down and told us they ran out of rice and would take 20 min for it to be ready, which we were ok with. 2 people in our group of 8 party ordered the all you can eat. Other 6 ordered bowls. The 2 people got everything right away. While waiting we had to asked the waitress multiple times for napkins, extra glasses, chop sticks. She then came over to tell us they were dishing up out fowls. Fast forward 45 min still no food! The manager came over to apologize, we ended up getting the food which was awful! This was my first time at Taeguki. This restaurant is a cook it yourself korean bbq restaurant based out of San Diego. We went for lunch around noon and there was no wait. The staff is friendly and very attentive. When your grill starts to smoke, they immediately change out your grill top. You can order premium or original all you can eat, which allows you to choose items off a menu. We had a large party so we ordered triple of beef bulgogi, chicken, brisket, and pork belly. The best meat was the beef bulgogi. If you plan on bringing children 4 and older, expect to pay 16.99 for that child to have all you can eat. Our child only ate noodles from the side dishes and rice. Let me just say got $40-50 a person this place is way way way overpriced. It takes forever to cook your own food and not only that the burners have to be switched out every 15 min cuz they start to smoke and then you're cooking again on a cold grill. The concept is fun, but for the same price you can go to a brazillian steakhouse and get all the food cooked for you plus all the extras are included. Also the service is weird you never know who your server is random people walk by and come to your table and you ask for something and of course they aren't the server so you wait again. The food was ok but just sucked that one person has to cook while anyone with you gets to eat. Interesting concept. But no thanks. I'll save my $50 and to to the Brazilian steakhouse and save me the time and trouble. Thanks but no thanks. Maybe for 1/2 the current price would be good but not worth the price. Plus you can only order 4 things at once. What's a crock of poop. We went for dinner Cuz we were starving. We'll we left the same way starving. Cuz get this. They even give you a time limit. My boyfriend and I were excited to try this place especially when it's the only kbbq in Tucson but all I can say is I'm disappointed in the service and quality of food. I am also a server at a kbbq restaurant in socal and I understand how busy it can get. However, our grill was burning and one of the services didn't bother changing it after aggressively dropping off our last round of meats. He left to talk to the table next to us and just continued talking after peaking over his shoulders to look at us. Our main server kept forgetting our side orders (like rice, garlic, etc) so we had to ask 2-3times. I genuinely appreciate the tall, female server who was able to attend to our needs immediately without forgetting. She was very sweet. The meat was mediocre compared to other places I've gone to. The portions are very small and it was an inconvenience waiting long for our meats. It was a hassle having to order the meats less than 5 minutes after the meats were dropped off. I gave this place a 1 star because it was just not hitting last night. Upon entering you see a list of some items they ran out of. So going in and looking at the lower priced menu, it was pretty much slim picking. Then I decided to choose the higher menu, and there they were also out of a few items too. If you're going to be out of that many items then there should be some discount percentage offered. Service was meh. We had one server started out helping us. Then ALMOST towards the end some other server comes around, ask a few repetitive questions. Then seriously kept coming around and thought we needed our check. Came back with th4 check. And then check was already on table for 15 mins, original server comes back and decided he needed to drop the check. Like what's the rush? It wasn't even like we were ordering any more food. Was just trying to catch up with a friend anf working on the food we had cooked. Then few mins later another server who isn't our server at all as if we needed the check. And at this point I like. I make better kbbq at home plus I make sure to have the essentials. This place is ok if you don't know what or how korean bbq is, if your from Tucson and never traveled maybe. First off the waitress said they don't carry hite beer or cass, no korean beer?? then she said they have kirin, which we like this japanese beer... so we asked kirin ichiban? She said no its kirin.. well she doesn't know the name of what she sells. 3 of us at table and they brought one iced glass had to ask for 2 more. We would order more beer as we drink with the meal plus they are big bottles so always do one to start it stays cold that way..... but anyway. We ordered premium package for all 3 of us and our guest asked for pineapple skewers it was from a can and they only brought 2 skewers with 3 triangle chunks of pineapple..so embarassing! Our guest wanted it, traditionally we don't have grilled pineapple at korean bbq, we eat it after the meal and its fresh cut pineapple. So embarassing and cheap this place... we asked for romaine lettuce wraps or perilla leaves NOPE, they don't have them. Wait, what? We will pay for it... no worries. Oh, you don't carry the leaf wraps, isn't this korean bbq??? How to wrap and make bundles??!! We asked for scallion salad (pajeori) NOPE they don't have it. No greens served here. Not even that they ran out they don't serve them. The waitress started the grill the meat was cooking so low temperature we turned it up the grill she came back to just turn the temperature down and quickly walks away.. wait what???!!! It was not searing the meat.. we did not even get items we asked for, she didn't care to bring us the sides.. the kimchi was one piece of cabbage stretched out it was a joke.. we didn't even eat we were so disgusted with the service and lack of items (authenticity) that make it kbbq. When is siracha a dipping sauce and where was the doenjang??? I asked for sesame oil and that was a bother usually it is mixed with the salt but they just had salt in the dish no sesame oil. Just too many things wrong.. we left our meat on the grill and asked for the check did not finish anything.. the beer still in the glasses. Food not cooked not ate..raw meat on plates and some on the grill not even cooked just partial boil in its own blood from not being able to turn up grill. After approximately 25 minutes of this lack of service and begging for things we decided to take our guest to another place. Asked for the check, the waitress sends the manager a guy comes over asked if he could help, told him the lack of things and the waitress not bringing sides was not off to a good start we were leaving we wanted the check. We were charged for 3 premium meals and the one beer. We were seated at 7:05 pm.. it went downhill quick we left at 7:38 pm.. it was horrible. The manager was trying to fix things after the fact, we had a guest from out of town and wanted better for them. So as after waiting for them to ring up and take my payment I called the Brazilian steakhouse and we had a great meal there with excellent service at Churasco de Brazil. They told us it would be another 1/2 hour or longer before a table opened up but they had 2 banquet tables we could take but we'd not be together. I noticed a large table open and asked and they said it was for a larger party who's reservation was an HOUR later and I asked why they were holding a table for them but making us wait. To be honest, I miss 7 Ounce because I really think their selection and quality of their meats and seafood was much better. This place is just mediocre with prices way too high to justify it. The marinade for all of their marinated meats is also WAY too sweet, with no balance of flavors. Bulgogi marinade is typically a delicious balance of sweet and savory. Here, it's just too sweet. Their side dishes are also not seasoned well at all and also taste too sweet. I guess whoever makes them really likes sugar? I have had Korean food at many restaurants, and made lots of Korean dishes using authentic recipes, so I know it wasn't normal. I'm sure some people like it that way, but it did not suit my tastes. The sliced beef brisket was super dry and flavorless, even when cooked just barely. The pork belly wasn't very good either. For the price, it just wasn't worth it. We came here for soft opening and it was hot! Literally hot as three tables were on FIRE within an hour and they had to relocate the customers. My table caught on the fire as well after an employee made a mistake of pouring water into fire with grease. The managers quickly responded and comforted us. The service from the managers were excellent that's why I decided to give 3 star. Now onto the bad experience, their ventilation system is horrible, the dining room was filled with smoke when we walked in and the occupancy didn't even reach 30% capacity. Smoke didn't get better until some people left and almost everyone stopped cooking. We left with smoky smell all over our clothes. I also think the price is too high for that menu. The food menu is very limited even for the premium menu. It's my personal opinion that it's not worth the price they are charging. Just to caveat that we did get a discount for the fire incident on our table but that's because the managers were very understanding. First off, the service is amazing. The only downfall was refilling our side sauces. We did the premium service which includes shrimp and beef short ribs. I wouldn't recommend the plain shrimp. I don't understand the low stars this place has. It is one of the rare Korean restaurants in this area which lets you grill your food on your table. Most of the places around here you just order your food and that's it. What makes Korean BBQ fun is the experience to grill it yourself and that's exactly what you get here. I am giving a -1 star for the abysmal service. They really need a better trained staff here. They were so slow, and made some mistakes with the items we ordered. But the food and drinks are amazing. I was so stoked when I saw this was coming! I absolutely love Korean bbq and was used to having some amazing places to go to in Korea town near dc. Plus, being half Korean myself there are tons of dishes I love and miss. The first thing that bugged me was that you could make reservations 24 hours out, but not in the same day, or be on a waitlist. So we took a gamble and went. The second thing (more due to Covid; although I've been to plenty of places that do allow bigger parties), was that two of our friends ended up going elsewhere bc we wouldn't be able to sit together. It was going to be 6 adults, 1 baby, and 1 toddler. Apparently the kids counted in the 6 ppl max. So they lost money there. The last thing that bugged me was that this is not a cheap dinner night out. I do not mind spending more on good food, but we were promised that as soon as they lay the protein on the table, we could order more (max is 4 items). I respect and understand the max part... but they laid the items down and quickly ran from the table. I totally get they were busy. Our server was running around constantly. But still... if we are paying $40 for all you can eat with a 2 hour max, we don't want to be sitting and waiting for more food to come. We did this a lot. And we are all huge meat eaters. All that being said, I would still recommend this place. I'm sure they are working out any kinks they have and everyone there was really nice and professional.
