We came here for soft opening and it was hot! Literally hot as three tables were on FIRE within an hour and they had to relocate the customers. My table caught on the fire as well after an employee made a mistake of pouring water into fire with grease. The managers quickly responded and comforted us. The service from the managers were excellent that's why I decided to give 3 star. Now onto the bad experience, their ventilation system is horrible, the dining room was filled with smoke when we walked in and the occupancy didn't even reach 30% capacity. Smoke didn't get better until some people left and almost everyone stopped cooking. We left with smoky smell all over our clothes. I also think the price is too high for that menu. The food menu is very limited even for the premium menu. It's my personal opinion that it's not worth the price they are charging. Just to caveat that we did get a discount for the fire incident on our table but that's because the managers were very understanding. First off, the service is amazing. The only downfall was refilling our side sauces. We did the premium service which includes shrimp and beef short ribs. I wouldn't recommend the plain shrimp. It was incredibly difficult to peel and you were left with nothing. The spicy shrimp was already peeled. Not too spicy. Our favorite hands down was the short ribs. The brisket, beef belly and bulgogi were also pretty amazing. We ordered mushrooms, pineapple and onion. We received one mushroom one slice of onion and pineapple on a skewer. I don't understand the low stars this place has. It is one of the rare Korean restaurants in this area which lets you grill your food on your table. Most of the places around here you just order your food and that's it. What makes Korean BBQ fun is the experience to grill it yourself and that's exactly what you get here. I am giving a -1 star for the abysmal service. They really need a better trained staff here. They were so slow, and made some mistakes with the items we ordered. But the food and drinks are amazing. We have been here a handful of times and brought our families and friends who visited from out of state. We are avid KBBQ eaters. Wherever we go we look because we love it so much! The atmosphere here is great and they play music and have tvs to watch. We have gone to other KBBQ places in town this is just the only all you can eat place we found. The other restaurants do have a bit of a better selection when it comes to meat but it's not bad. (the main reason for the one less star) The banchans are hit or miss on flavor but never bad. We just recently had such a great server! I believe her name is Liz so if you are ever in the area and she is workin, ask for her! She is so attentive and friendly and just a great joy to have around. I like how they are connected to the Korean Rose that serves such tasty drinks! Our family decided to stop here for dinner and we saw so many reviews. The wait was not too long but we got a table in about 45 minutes. Or experience sitting down was very rude and inattentive. Our server didn't acknowledge us for over 15 minutes and served the people behind us first (even though we sat before them. we literally watched them get all their waters, put in their orders, and get their side dish before we were even acknowledged. Bowls on tables were dirty before we sat down and had leftover rice and one of the people party didn't even have a table set. On top of that we came to the table and it had spilled sesame oil all over the table and floor that was never cleaned from the previous person. We had a rude experience with our server Liz. She has an attitude the entire time and was completely forgetful for many of our orders. Then when we reminded her she had a pissed off look and brought it out again, but also forget other things we ordered yet again. When we noted it she said "do you need anything else, im leaving after this!!" and storms off. We were so confused and as a first time customer had just a rude experience with our waiter. Thankfully our new waiter was super sweet and attentive. She got us our food quick. Even brought out the items our previous waiter forgot. The one thing i will note. Their serving sizes is SMALL. like 5pieces of meat small. We were so surprised when it came out because our first waiter said we could only bring 4 meat or veggies out and we are a family of FIVE. We had to keep requesting double meat to even have a normal serving size. (we are a family of 5) each barely fed one person. I would say the quality of meat is similar to gen. I was so stoked when I saw this was coming! I absolutely love Korean bbq and was used to having some amazing places to go to in Korea town near dc. Plus, being half Korean myself there are tons of dishes I love and miss. The first thing that bugged me was that you could make reservations 24 hours out, but not in the same day, or be on a waitlist. So we took a gamble and went. The second thing (more due to Covid; although I've been to plenty of places that do allow bigger parties), was that two of our friends ended up going elsewhere bc we wouldn't be able to sit together. It was going to be 6 adults, 1 baby, and 1 toddler. Apparently the kids counted in the 6 ppl max. So they lost money there. The last thing that bugged me was that this is not a cheap dinner night out. I do not mind spending more on good food, but we were promised that as soon as they lay the protein on the table, we could order more (max is 4 items). I respect and understand the max part... but they laid the items down and quickly ran from the table. I totally get they were busy. Our server was running around constantly. But still... if we are paying $40 for all you can eat with a 2 hour max, we don't want to be sitting and waiting for more food to come. We did this a lot. And we are all huge meat eaters. All that being said, I would still recommend this place. I'm sure they are working out any kinks they have and everyone there was really nice and professional. Fyi, the sausage are on skewers & pretty small ( kind of like little smokies ) Price is a little expensive, but, it is all u can eat. So, come hungry! Hahaha. My favorites were the bbq pork belly and the beef brisket with the chado sauce. For the bbq prom belly I feel you have e to leave it on for a while to get charred up a bit. I usually start with beef bulgolgi because it seasons the grill very well so the rest of the stuff you cook on there gets a good color and crust. When you first start cooking on the grills the meat doesn't get a good enough seer on it. The Dr Pepper I ordered wasn't great. Their mix ratio on their soda machine is off. The vibe in this place is very much college town KBBQ but if you are looking for that this is the place to go. This is the only all you can eat KBBQ that we've been able to find it in Tucson since Takamatsu doesnt do you can eat anymore. What I will say about this place is that the food is pretty good, but I do think the beef Bulgogi has a little bit too much sugar in the marinade because it's a little bit on the sweet side but I suppose that's OK for the price. My husband and I went to Taegukgi for lunch on a Wednesday. The place was nicely laid out with a grill in the middle of each table and exhaust fan over the grill. We were greeted instantly by a young man who said to wait 5 minutes while he set up our table. The table was nice with stainless serving dishes, chopsticks, a variety of pickled dishes and sauces, a cold water jug and metal "glasses" filled with ice. Very pleasant table setting. The server explained the menu and we each got 4 meat selections and fired up the grill. We ordered pork belly, gulgoki beef, thinly sliced beef and sausages.The gulgoki was delicious however the marinade burned onto the grill and it was quickly replaced with a fresh grill plate. The staff changed the grill plate as it got burned. Don't Order the sausage. The gulgoki was great as was the bbq pork belly. The thinly sliced beef was ok and definitely needed to be dipped in sauces, or better yet salted with the salt provided on the table while grilling.. The general manager "Brittany" is rude and was intentionally ignoring my wife and I when we were trying to get service after being sat for 10 minutes. There is also a huge hole in the ground under one of the tables that my chair continuously kept getting stuck in and I would almost fall out every-time. The waitresses expect a huge tip and when not received you can tell a change in their attitude. If the bill is coming out at average of 80-100$ and cooking our own food, don't expect a large tip especially when we receive horrible service. read more

Taegukgi is indeed a Tucson rarity as an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant. I was very excited when Taegukgi first opened, but did not get a chance until recently to visit. Overall, the meats provided were decent. Of note are the beef brisket and the beef belly. The beef rib fingers were also quite delicious as well. However, it pains me to confess that my overall experience at Taegukgi was subpar. The main thing is that I would expect a larger selection of meats and banchan sides for $30 (dinner, original menu). Also, the quality of the banchan sides could be improved. As for the service, it seems as if there is room for improvement. The table that we sat at could have been cleaned better. Additionally, the service was slowed, especially when it got a little busier. Usually this isn't an issue, but when there is a 2-hour time limit for the all you can eat deal. Perhaps these issues can be attributed to their being a newly opened restaurant, and I am hopeful that they will make the necessary changes for improvement. As this is the only place in Tucson with all you can eat Korean BBQ, I still look forward to the next time I visit Taegukgi! read more

I have to admit, I LOVE coming here. Its a little bit expensive to make it a regular thing but we make it here at least every other month. We just came here to celebrate my Birthday on Thursday October 6. We got seated at 8:06pm and tye staff was super friendly (have never had issue with staff customer service, always great customer service). The eating process is for 2 hours unlimited (we never stay that long, their food is so delish we tend to leave 30 min early or so before our time is up). They close at 11 so plenty of time so enjoy everything. I love the Beef Brisket! My absolute favorite. Although I wish they had some type of oil you could put where you cook it in order to avoid the food from sticking so much but That does not take away from the flavors at all! They do constantly change the cooking top, when it gets dirty. The staff is always very nice and friendly. Their spicy shrimp is delightful as well and the thin pork belly omg! I love it. Their regular pork belly is very good too, just takes a little longer to cook, however we discovered that by cutting into small pieces before cooking helps cooking it fast so great tip to remember. Their BBQ chicken and spicy chicken also great. Altough the spicyness is not spicy at all but has great taste. This time they where out of a few of my favorite, such as sausages and seasons sirloin but still had alot of everything I enjoy. I love their pineapples and zucchini, taste great grilled and their bell peppers and onions as well. Yummmm. Just talking about it is making me crave it again hehehe. The sides are absolutely perfect! They where out of the glass noodles ( one of my favorites) but their Kimchi Cucumber, pickled Jalapeños, pickled radish, fish cakes, kinchy and rice was stunning as always! Been coming here since they open and they NEVER disappoint. A must try for sure. Its a great experience! Yes you cook your own food but its cooks pretty quickly and I like that I can cook it to my liking. I brought my Dad to try it for the first time with us on my bday and he really enjoyed it as well. Simply put.. this place is okay. I'm not going to do what folks always seem to do in reviews for (any region, country or type of) asian restaurants. They will compare it to new York, San Francisco, la... clearly we need to keep expectations reasonable for the middle of a smaller desert city. However, even compared to gen in Phoenix (which isn't amazing, but certainly better than this chain of Korean bbq). The selection is ok, the grills do not get hot enough. That's my biggest gripe. I cannot figure out if it's because they want to slow you down so you eat less during your all you care to eat, or if it's an issue with the fuel systems. But it takes forever to get any type of grill marks or char on anything. And isn't thay half the reason you grill foods? It is for me and my partner anyway. Some rice wraps would be nice, the ban Chan is ok. Nothing special. The meat is ok. I desperately want a good Korean AYCE place in Tucson but as of now, we just drive drive phoenix. read more
