Feel really deceived and flat out lied to by our dinner tonight. We went to Bag o' Crab. Ordered combo #3 the king crab, shrimp, 2 potatoes, 2 corn, 4 sausages. Just under $100.00 1/2 the crab is pictured here. 1/3 of shrimp is pictured also, 1 of 4 sausages "pieces" not whole sausage.(one was the tip of what looked like a hotdogs about the size of a nickel attached photo was the biggest "piece") we expected 4 sausages not 1/2 of 1 sausage cut into 4 small pieces (even manager agreed it should have been 4 FULL sausages, but did not give us what we paid for, never even offered. 2 small red potatoes about size of a silver dollar, we expected a regular size potato, not the huge ones but the ones you get in a 5lb bag at home. Ours was 1/2 that size x2. 2, 1/2 corn on cob not 2 full cobs as expected, but 1 cut in half. What a total rip off and false advertising!!! We complained the minute we saw how small the KING crab was. About 10 inches long total with about 3/4 inch in diameter in shell! Now I have had king crab before and the legs were at least 2 feet in length not 10". We went home hungry and $104.00 less in our pockets. Manager was our server and only gave us 10% off! We got takeout from Bag O' Crab for dinner, and were overall happy with the portions and food! We got fried shrimp with onion rings, fried fish with french fries, and a seafood bag. The seafood bag was the standout: we got shrimp (head off) with the "Atomic Sauce," a combination of cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter seasoning. It's super flavorful, and even though "Atomic" is in the name, it doesn't have to be spicy! You get to set your spice level when ordering. The one slight annoyance with the single-seafood bag is that the corn, potatoes, and andouille sausage were all add-ons with an upcharge -- to me, those are a standard part of a low country boil and should be included from the get-go. Love that we have another Cajun seafood place! We came here on a weekend and tried a mixed meal of crawfish, shrimp, crawfish, potato, and sausage. Wow, perfectly cooked shrimp is not the easiest to find and they did it well here! Absolutely loved the sauce options as well. We went for a mild sauce. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars. My husband loves seafood, so the bar was set high - especially after Angry Crab went downhill with some concerning health violations. Friends recommended this place, so we were excited to try it. The little robot server that delivers your food is a fun touch. As a vegetarian who is gluten-free but eats salmon, I found the menu very limited. I had to be brave and choose the ONLY dish that was somewhat an option - the cod with mango salsa, rice, and a salad. It was fresh and fine, but not memorable. My friend's experience with the same dish was similar. I also had to wait several minutes for the hot sauce I'd requested with my order, only to get a Cajun hot sauce that was more oily mess than flavor. We went here during the soft opening for my birthday. On arrival we were seated right away. They have one of those little robots that go around and deliver drinks or help servers bring food to a table. It wasn't used for our table but it was traveling around the restaurant. The waitress we had was very pleasant to deal with. She was attentive and friendly. We got the Spicy Korean Wings for an appetizer which were phenomenal. I ordered the pre chosen (not build your own) seafood bag which was C3, and I chose the Dungeness crab. The sauce they use is very good, the sausage, potatoes and corn were great. Shrimp was good as well. Now when it came to the crab itself, it was actually pretty flavorless and dry on its own, but dipping it in the sauce helped. Interesting didn't offer to switch it out for a plain salad or to switch it for french fries especially since I paid extra to get a salad.. At our table, we also have the chicken strips which is plentiful. It's enough to feed the entire table in fact, so lots of leftovers of that that was also good because it was fresh and hot. My son went for the combo with the snow, crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. He also said it was delicious, but I don't believe I'll come back. It's unfortunate cause I really did wanna like this place, but without being offered a substitute or the exact same salad minus the dressing that was placed on it that did not taste very good at all. And I said to myself, "this boil thing is overated and lacks zip" and I put the whole boil supper cuisine aside and did not revisit it for decades. UNTIL NOW IN LANDLOCKED TUCSON - and it was good! I had Bag O' Crab and I have to say that a boil supper - done right - is a really good thing to eat. There was zip and spice and butter and garlic and choices of sauces and all the go-ins. The seafood was delicious. Yes, please. NOT bland. For the record, we had four people sharing the Louisiana sauced combo #1 medium with added mussels and the garlic and butter sauced combo #2 medium. We could have backed off on the spice a bit and been happy, but medium just kept us lit up a bit more. We added an order of garlic fries after seeing it delivered to another table. Good move! The service was impeccable. These servers know how to pour the contents of a super hot, steaming bag of eats onto a platter like nobody's business. They make it look easy, but it is not. No mess. No fuss. And jokes and southern accents all thrown in. Soda and water refills kept on coming. Check ins happened on a regular basis without being annoying at all. And the server robot was a fun little gimmick. I would only say that the server should have offered us dessert rather than just ask if we wanted anything else. Great food great service. I had the Fried shrimp basket with Cajun fries and hush puppies. Shrimp was very good, great crunch and came out very quick. The hush puppies were unforgettable. My wife had a boil bag. Seasonings were on point. This boil bag took her back to being in Louisiana. 10/10 recommend. Our server Donovan was fantastic with everything! If anyone is looking for a seafood boil close to the coast, crab o bag is by far the best thing in this desert you will get. Beer is also nice and cold! Well, this place is sort of like angry crab so if you're familiar with that restaurant, then you'll really enjoy this place. Not only do they have the wait staff, but they also have a robot that comes around and delivers your food once in a while. Jesse was our waiter and he did an amazing job. We started off with a cup of the clam chowder, which was different but good. While waiting for our meals, we saw some other foods come out. The food here was really good. I was surprised at how delicious their wings were, they might have been the best thing I had there. They were giant, juicy, and flavorful. I was also surprised to get scissors and plastic forks to eat my crab with. It made it really difficult to get the meat out of the crab. Even with a metal fork I'd have been able to manage to not waste as much crab. My service was super friendly. They tried to seat my husband and myself next to someone who was letting their child play on their tablet maxed out, and we asked to not be seated there and it was no problem. Had lunch here recently. After confirming that the lobster in the lobster roll was fresh and not frozen I ordered the "Maine" lobster roll with an upgrade to onion rings. Being from Boston I'm very particular about lobster rolls which I have frequently when back east. The lobster roll I received was a huge disappointment and nothing like an actual lobster roll purchased at places along the Maine coast. The lobster consisted of small pieces and not chunks. There was virtually no taste to the lobster and the dressing was some concoction rather than plain mayonnaise which is all that is needed to enhance the taste of Maine lobster. The onion rings were OK but I have a strong suspicion that they were frozen and not freshly made. All in all this was not a good experience and I will not be returning. The service was good when it was provided by real people. The robots used to deliver the food to the server were a real annoyance with the music coming out of them. read more
