Let me begin with I am from SoCal. There are more Mexican restaurants in SoCal then beans in a bean and cheese burrito so we know good Mexican food. Though this was definitely NOT an authentic menu it was EFFING AMAZING!! I had the shrimp taco, chicken taco and their fish taco especial. The shrimp was plump full with a delicious crema sauce, arugula and carrot. Next their chicken tacos, mind you they only have tacos and tortas; chicken was tender and moist. Well seasoned with again arugula, pickled onions and crema. Last was my fish especial, a blackened fish, not battered with a slice of fresh avocado and slaw. Fish was definitely fresh and firm. Cooked to perfection. OMG order the chips and salsa. Their chips were perfect, not greasy and flavorful. The salsa stood out on its own. My husband wanted to drink it. As good as any salsa you could have in Mexico or San Diego. Eugene has a treasure. Again I judged it on its own twist on Mexican food not on traditional Mexican recipes and it did it honor. You know, I'm stoked on this place. It's hip, it's tasty. I do wish the salsa was a little better. And that you could take a bottle of salsa to your table with you. The options are super tasty. The carne on the torta is cut wrong...but the sandwich is still tasty. For eugene, this place it awesome. The pescado tacos are really great. Probably one of the better fried fish options in town. If you want a good taco and don't mind paying $3 to $5 for them at lunch, this is a great place to go. I'm not a huge (American) Mexican food person, but I am slowly being converted. Tacovore is doing a pretty good job and helping me find things that I like. Lunch is the best time to come here, while often a little crowded the line does move pretty quickly. With lots of shared seating, as well as booths and outside seating. You can almost always find a place to sit, or just wait 5min and grab the next seat that opens up. The atmosphere is very very casual, and it is in a nice open space. Although that can make it hard to have a private conversation. One of the main aspects that is very "Eugene" in my opinion is that you are expected to bus your own table. Granted they do have a lot of servers that will be very kind and take your dishes if they notice that you are done with your meal. One other aspect about the location is that parking is small to none, so be prepared to park down the street and walk. The food is great but does depend on what you order and what you like. Personally, I am a meat guy and I love their carnivore tacos. They have a lot of flavor and are pretty filling for tacos. I'm not a huge fan of their Orchata though, from what I have gathered they serve it out of a box. Made from scratch is so so much better. Thier margaritas are considered the best in town by many people, including many of my own friends, and I have to say I do enjoy them every time I order them. Overall this is a great place and one that I would suggest to many who are visiting Eugene/Springfield. For the locals it's a great option but not the only option. Tacovore is by far my favorite restaurant to get tacos. In fact it is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Eugene! Now that I am fully vaccinated, I am carefully venturing back out to eat. Tacovore makes the eating process simply fantastic! They have a wonderful patio set up both in the back and in the front. They also have super socially distanced tables inside which were super far apart. You have to go in only a few at a time to order. It was extremely safe. Of course their tacos are as delicious as ever! I had a vegetarian special as well as a fish taco and both were beyond amazing! I also had a margarita! I love Tacovore and I cannot wait to go back! It's no secret, I love me some tacos! Came here on a first date, and while I may have been more enthralled with my companion than the tacos, I assure you the tacos were still tasty! I ordered a grilled chicken and a mole verde taco along with a margarita. The mole verde taco had a nice little kick to it which made drinking my margarita more imperative. With plenty of available socially distanced indoor and outdoor seating, a picnic table in the front parking lot was just the ticket for tonight's dinner for two. The place was quiet when we arrived, but by the time we left, the hum was palpable. This is an "order at the counter, and we'll bring you your food" joint. Utensils, napkins, water and a small army of sauces await your attention at the condiment bar. SERVICE = FOUR stars (Good) Our cashier was knowledgeable and help us decide on our order. We poured ourselves some water and seated ourselves. Prior to receiving our food, we sampled four of the salsas before settling on the Tomatillo and the Jalapeno salsas. Our order was delivered quickly. This was the extent of our interactions with the service staff. FOOD = TWO stars (Could have been better) * Bean and Cheese Taco = $3.50 * Shrimp Taco = $5.50 * Carnitas Taco = $4.25 * Seafood Special Taco = $7.00 * Chili Soup w/ Beef added = $7.00 All tacos were drizzled w/ sauce, which, in our opinion, was mostly unnecessary. We would have preferred to have the sauce served separately, allowing us to add the amount we wanted. We picked the grilled Seafood Special taco over the fried Pescado taco and are glad we did. Our memory is fading and we think it was halibut, crusted in sesame seeds, and quite meaty and good. This taco gets FOUR STARS The Shrimp Taco, Carnitas Taco, and Bean and Cheese Taco were pretty basic, or dry thus earning TWO STARS each (could have been better). The Chili Soup w/ added Beef was a bit of a disappointment. The soup and chili beans were under - seasoned. The added ground beef was simply scooped onto the top of the soup, next to some sliced avocado. It too (the beef), lacked flavor. The soup is served w/ some rather nondescript tortilla chips. Unless you're on a no - salt diet, I'd avoid this dish, which gets ONE STAR (not good). Come to Tacovore for the good times, but be judicious with your food choices. Went to Tacovore on a whim with a friend and was surprised at how busy this place was, so intuition would say that this place was legit and good... My intuition was wrong, First, if you like hipsters, you will definitely like the vibe in here. If hipsters make you nervous and make you want to take a shower to cleanse off the douchiness your body was surrounded by, avoid this place. The service was mediocre and the cashier was impatient and not that friendly. Then my friend ordered a seafood taco, and then told him that they just ran out of seafood. Then they charge you $2 for a can of soda... and $3 for a bland salsa that adds no flavor to a chip. We both ordered the grilled chicken torta and wish we hadn't. Every thing was bland and it wasn't much a torta, but a chibatta sandwich. Also, the whole staff had a sense of confusion because the layout is weird and with such a big crowd the confusion is easily seen. This visit wasn't great and I see no hope for improvement, so I don't think I will visit again. For people thinking of going here, just as my opinion this place is place looks like it's an amazing place, but looks can be deceiving. read more

So I'll admit that I do like the tacos. It's def a hipster kind of place just like everything else in this town is becoming. The taco filling portions are inconsistent though and for the VERY high price I expect to have more. Also, the bathrooms are always really disgusting and it grosses me out. The toilet seems to always be leaking all over the place leaving my shoes soaked and it doesn't seem thoroughly cleaned daily. You'd think with the high price of food and drink, they could afford to upgrade the bathrooms? I dunno. We had a bit of a tour of the menu with tacos, tortas, chips and salsas, aguas, and the pudding. All good and exceeding expectations. Torta is a great deal for the money- crispy meat and beans in toasty bread, with chips. Salsa bar options rock. Yum! And the pudding, what a great conclusion. When in Eugene we'll be back. I've visited Tacovore more than once. While the tacos are quite good (minus the one time we found a bit of plastic in one of ours...), the service is rough. Really rough. The cashiers are rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. It makes it a very unappealing experience. I have a love-hate relationship with this place but one of the things that really particularly bugs me is when I come in in the afternoon for a quick drink and every seat at the bar is taken up by one of their employees who's off and today it's one of the employees with their possibly five year old child sitting at the bar. Update: so the next time I was at Tacovore as I was leaving I was approached by an employee who confronted me about my review. She said it's not illegal to seat 5 year olds at their bar.... glad to know that part of Tacovore's customer service model is to confront people. I called the next day to speak to the manager and she seemed appropriately concerned I even got a return call from Steve and I gave them another chance and came in but was treated very coldly no customer service whatsoever. Maybe because the girl that confronted me was there and she was wasn't happy that she got in trouble she should be thankful she didn't lose her job. After a really long day of travel this place hit the spot. First and foremost the atmosphere here is awesome. Total modern Mexican feel. Seating is long tables and a few booths so you get to get up close and personal with your new amigos here. Tacos are a must and they have some awesome choices. Size wise they are a pretty good portion and 3 should be plenty for you, unless you're really hungry. But, remember to get chips and salsa (extra...not a fan of that I think it should be included - also that's an automatic one star deduct for me). The tacos were fresh and brought out as soon as they were ready. So don't be surprised if you get a couple tacos and then a few minutes later another comes out. Also, make sure and go to the side counter for the array of salsa that you can dish up on your own (Chipotle is AWESOME!). Either I was really starving after traveling all day or this place is the real deal. Judging by the number of people here waiting for tables, I'm going with the real deal. Also, if you're keeping track with the one star deduct for not including chips and salsa with the meal, they still scored a 5 star. I met some friends who swear by this palce on how great it is so I was early and sat at the bar and ordered a juice that the bartender recommended. It was syrup with a few smashed strawberries and I think it was $4-5! LOL! I went back to taco ore again on the 25th because my teenage son who doesn't care about service wants to go there, and this time the service was great. The girl took our order was friendly and pleasant. The girl at the cashier counter that was rude and grabbed jalapeño with her dirty fingers worked during 6-7 on Friday the 23rd. I have no idea why this place is so popular. Maybe their clientele have never had Mexican food before? Their chicken tacos are chunks of dry, tasteless chicken, with almost no tomato or cheese - just a soggy, soft shell. They don't have crisp shell. The chips are okay, they seem fresh made but there is no sauce. The guacamole is little more than chopped up avocados. Seriously? The 'ambiance' is a few rows of wooden picnic benches/tables. It's crowed and VERY loud. I suspect that their clientele base is mostly drunken college students. I don't know. The food is mercifully cheap. Go for the Happy Hour margaritas. Tacos are unique and tasty, drinks are good but somewhat expensive. I do not enjoy the lines that last for 30-45 minutes. This restaurant does offer many good options including vegan and gluten free. I do like Tacovore, but it would not be my "go to" choice when it comes to eating out. i weigh my review based on timeliness of service and expense. I've been to this place before and so we made sure to get here again before a concert nearby. Lovely outdoor patio and the sweet potato/asparagus taco was super yummy. First of all, let me say I am prejudiced against soft tacos. And when I do eat them, I eat about ten, so for me to get full at this place requires one day's wages. That said, there are some sandwiches there called Tortas which are awesome. One will fill you up, and they taste amazing. We always get the Carnitas and Carne Asada and spit them. Plus Tacovore has some awesome salsas. I like the one from habanero especially!
