I always enjoy trying local places and this Mexican food Café did not disappoint. The staff was great and explained a couple of food items that I had questions about. Sometimes I just like a simple dish and I requested a small bean burrito with cheese and red enchilada sauce on top. I also ordered some taquitos to try. I love their homemade salsa and the bean burrito was perfect. The taquitos were OK, but I believe if the oil in the fryer would've been fresher, the taquitos would've been better. I have been looking for the best chile relleno in Eugene... and checking out a lot of the various Mexican restaurants. I arrived around 11:30 am... and there was no one else in the restaurant. I ordered at the counter, a chile relleno plate. I was told they were on special that day (about $2.00 off the normal price). So I figured... great... got a deal too! Also ordered a Jarritos soda...Mango. Sat down, and after a bit... the food was brought to the table, and I started eating. My chile relleno had no cheese in it... or if it did, it was so minimal I missed it. Not sure if they were cutting ingredients for the special or not... but all I got was a battered and fried chili pepper. Beans and rice were ok. Corn tortillas were ok... seemed like they needed a bit more time on the comal, they were a little raw (see pic). I might try eating here again... we will see. Not sure. read more

I stopped by here the other day for lunch. I don't think I've ever been here before. I had the enchiladas verde à la carte. My goodness the verde sauce was so flavorful - lots and lots of lime, one of my favorite choices. The chicken Seemed to be all breast meat and was shredded beautifully. As for the atmosphere, just a big open space, really great for families. In fact, there was a large group there, a lot louder than I enjoy, but everybody seemed to be having a good time. Little gem in Eugene! Very authentic Mexican food. We had the Birria, Quesabirria, el Pastor and Lengua tacos. All so delicious!! The freshly made corn tortillas were so full of flavor and the perfect texture (and I'm not typically a corn tortilla fan). It's alright. Service was okay. It's a bare bones kind of place; canned drinks, a smattering of tables, pitcher for ice water. They have a large menu. I really wanted sopes, which is why we decided to stop here. They were ok but the masa base was fried which isn't my favorite. Chips and salsa are extra, which is also not my fave. But the salsa was really good and the heat builds up quickly! I'd probably try another place for Mexican next time I'm home since there were a few from which we were deciding. They have a sufficient parking lot so that probably won't be a problem, but if it is there's street parking available too. read more

We were well overdue to come here. We had tried them when they had their short-lived second location on W. 11th and really liked the food. I was excited to try them again. At this location, you order at the counter and they bring the food out. We started with the chips and salsa. The salsa was just the green hot sauce, which was available in bottles to bring to your table. It was very tasty but too spicy to enjoy with just chips. I went back up to order a side of the cabbage salad to go with the chips. The person at the counter offered to bring out a side of beans to go with our chips too. The cabbage salad was very tasty (basically a mild cabbage salsa) and we would definitely get it again with chips. We also had the chicken mole plate and the adventurero tacos. The chicken mole plate had a huge chunk of chicken on the bone and came with rice and tortillas. Plenty to take home! The tacos were fun and different. The grilled onions blended in with the cheese and sour cream to make a very creamy taco with a lot going on. We'll probably be back rather soon. I bet our kiddo would love this place since her favorite food is basically beans and cheese burritos. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have tried in Eugene and will definitely be coming back!! Especially since everything on the menu looked so good. It was huge and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Prices were great. Very affordable. I got the lunch size burrito (8.50$) that was the perfect portion. I really appreciate that they do that here since sometimes a full burrito is too much. The green salsa it came with was amazing. Tortilla was great. Solid burrito. The woman at the front who took my order was soo friendly. I also really liked the vibe of the restaurant. Normally I get my food to go but I would sit down and eat here next time. It's a nondescript building and a homey, homemade vibe. Service was fine, though I was a bit surprised that they don't have anything with fajita vegetables on the menu. It's more of a mole place. Their avocado salsa / aguacaté is delicious and their flour tortillas are clearly made with love. If you just got their shrimp tacos and avocado salsa, you'd be set. I also ordered a BRC and an Al pastor super burrito. The burrito was OK but the ratio of sour cream to rest of filling was off; at times like eating a sour cream burrito. There is sometimes a wait, so I like to order online and pick it up so I don't have to wait as long when I get there. The people there are nice and help you once you walk in. I would have never noticed this place had it not been for my shopping at the bricks (LEGO) store next door. We ordered the Mayra's Specials: chicken mole plate and the enchiladas verde. The overall meals were delicious, both dishes were very homestyle, authentic, comfort food. The mole was thick, rich, sweet and a slight touch of spiciness--mild. The chicken was completely covered in the sauce and served with rice. The menu said it was served with "tender pieces of chicken," but instead I think I got a half of game hen--it was 1 big piece of chicken. The enchiladas were topped with sour cream, lettuce and avocados and very tasty. Finding a place to eat is always a struggle wherever we go lol...we stayed in Eugene for a four day weekend trip and tried this place out. My enchiladas were delicioussssss! I eat lots of Mexican food in California but nothing like this. The chicken was moist and tasty, the roasted carrots and potatoes were yummy too. The overall of my food was so good I couldn't get it off my mind lol. We also ordered #8, there were like 5 different tacos and all were so good and full of flavor. The only regret I have was that I didn't get to eat there again before I flew back home since they were close on Sunday. We will definitely come back if we're ever in the area! Ooh, we were so glad we tried this place! We were in town for an event, and everywhere we called had an hour wait, and we had four hungry kids! We walked in and were served right away. The food was good and fast. However there were a couple let-downs. My son requested red sauce on his wet burrito but received green sauce instead. In many Mexican restaurants, salsa and tortilla chips are normally provided immediately like water. We received neither.
