Extremely Disappointing Experience Tonalli's is one of the four food vendors at Public House, and unfortunately, they were one of three with a 45-60 minute wait--despite a busy but not overwhelming crowd. My family had already finished their meals from other vendors by the time I could place an order then wait nearly 30 minutes on a $28 single burrito, chips, and salsa. The staff showed zero sense of urgency. Some were even casually eating in the back kitchen while orders piled up. When I expressed my frustration, I was met with excuses and a patronizing tone instead of any accountability or apology. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at Public House. Unless there's a major shift in attitude and operations, I don't see Tonalli's lasting more than a few months. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

We got to visit Tonalli on their second day and they are already hitting it out of the park. I tried a bowl with cochinta pibil. It was very tasty and the black beans were so good. My husband got two tacos (cochinta pibil and barbacoa) along with two taquitos (barbacoa and chorizo). The taquitos are easily the best I've had in Oregon. So crunchy! Made to order and you can choose any of their proteins as the filling. We also got the queso fundido which came with homemade white corn tortillas. The tortillas were great and I would probably order extra next time to go with my bowl. I was shocked to find that we had exactly the right amount of tortillas to go with our queso- don't you always run out of dippers when you have dip? I have surprisingly never been to the Publichouse before. What a fun place! Funky with lots of rooms. We ended up sharing a table with another couple since it was a long picnic table with lots of space. The tables also have numbers and QR codes so you can order from your table or walk up to order. The other couple said that they loved their ceviche so I'll be definitely trying that next time! read more

The barbacoa was bland, tough and dry. In fact everything was bland, even the pickled onions and carrots, which is pretty hard to do. The portions were fine and price was ok, not great. Also, nitpick, why would you put the cabbage on the bottom of the taco so that it sogs out the tortilla and half way through it falls apart...silly. Was edible, not worth trying twice. read more

I just had to let everyone know about our experience with Tonalli last week. We had been there before. A year or so ago. As I recall, it was much better than last week. The food wasn't hot and it didn't have much flavor. BUT the worst part was the hair in the burrito! Yikes!! We had to stop eating. That's just something you can't move on from. When I went back to return the burrito, I asked for the owner. He wasn't able to come over to talk, too busy. Anyway I noticed his long dread locks, although impressive, they were everywhere in that kitchen. Not surprised with the hair in the burrito! It was disappointing. I won't be back. read more

When I asked about the online ordering not working, she made it sound like it was my fault or that I was an idiot. Probably won't be back. Great food! was reading some reviews and they just don't make sense. you can get extremely hot habanero hot sauce if you like hot (my favorite). Guacamole is always fresh and never disappoints. Food is always on point. That being said it can take a bit of time but that's because most of the time it's crowded... so chill have a beer and enjoy. read more

We love Tonalli's! Not sure why so many people are complaining. We've always been treated well and gotten hot, tasty food. The chicken pozole (spelling?) is delish and their walnut based chorizo filling for their quesadillas is fab. We ordered a shredded beef burrito, posole and guacamole with chips. None of it was good. The guacamole was really salty, the shredded beef burrito pretty tasteless and it was the worst posole I have ever had! The posole had no depth of flavor and besides throwing a ton of cabbage with radishes on top all it had in it was a few pieces of chicken. No hominy? Will not be going back. read more

They batter the fish so the pieces look all big and vibrant but when take a bite it's like the National Lampoon Christmas Turkey, all air and barely any meat. The newest restaurant available at the Publichouse Taproom in Springfield, Oregon. As a vegan, its hard for me to eat out so I was excited to see they had a vegan black bean and walnut chorizo protien option. The chorizo tacos were fantastic! Great tortillas and the black bean and walnut blend was spicy, well seasoned and super flavorful. With lime to jazz it up and some radishes to cleanse the palate, I've been won over whole heartedly! The protien is a little soft so be prepared for that. I would prefer slightly firmer, more like a soft sausage (or well....chorizo), but don't let that put you off. This is absolutely wonderful. I'm sad, and the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 I can't get taquitos with the vegan blend. The crispiness would totally make up for the soft protien. Can't wait to try it in a burrito! read more

I'll be back for the bowls and skip the queso! I've gotten their burrito bowls with barbacoa a couple times, SO good. Ask for a size if tortilla chips and/or corn tortillas with the bowl. Good portion size, not huge but enough to fill you up. I ordered the Queso and it was just melted cheese, Chorizo and so much grease/oil. I asked for a side of chips because the queso comes with tortillas and I couldn't dip the chips in the queso because it's hardened melted cheese, not creamy like queso usually is. I had to use a fork to cut up the cheese haha. Didn't eat much of it. read more

I had a bad experience when I wanted extra salsa as the portion was small and the pork taco was bland. Tasteless. Something was off in the head of the worker whom I think is the owner.I was reasonably polite though not happy. He was nasty mean and a bully. He insisted on one dollar. By the time I got back to my table, retrieved the money, then worked my way back to his booth, he refused to give me any salsa and badgered me. I asked a different worker' Please may i get some green salsa.' The owner came out of the booth and got in my face telling me to stay away from his business. I was appalled. The first time I tried it I didn't like it very tasteless food I ordered the walnut chorizo. I gave them a second chance and the same, no flavor. The second time I ordered the cochinita pibil. After months I gave it another try and I asked if the barbacoa was spicy and the guy said no. Well it was spicy so I went back and asked for extra rice because I couldn't eat it and the person at the register was very rude and said that Mexican food is always spicy which isn't true as I have lived in Mexico. I'm never eating their plain tasteless food. I don't recommend it to anyone. read more

We enjoy eating at Tonallis because the food is good. Unfortunately, the one person working there is very unfriendly. Today, we arrived at 12:50pm. and were brusquely told by this man that they are closed and won't open for about another 20-30 minutes - as if he's doing us a favor. What's this when Public House states that everything opens at 11:30am?! Special consideration as dictated by this one unfriendly guy?? We went elsewhere and will be wary about returning. read more

My friends and I meet at the Public House in Springfield, OR about once a month. We love this place. The ambience, stained glass, staff, etc. is such a treat. (We've nicknamed it the Abby). They have several restaurants to choose from. The food has always been good. Today I ordered the chicken quesadilla from Tonalli Latin Kitchen. It was HORRIBLE. Barely any chicken and it was disgustingly greasy. I ate a few bites and threw the rest away. I'm not a picky eater. I've never returned food for not being hot enough, etc. I'm not that person. Amazing homemade chorizo! Fish taco was so delicious, too. Love all their sauces as well. Everything is very fresh and high quality.

If you would get your food and decide it is a bit one note, and needs more salsa, Or, you should request green salsa over red, BEWARE. You just might experience a beligerant worker who will not give you what you are requesting. He will very stubbornly refuse to give you a green salsa, tell you to get lost and if you are confused and offer him the dollar he says it costs, well you are in for it! He got right in my face and BULLIED me, scared me, and I honestly for a second considered throwing my food at him (which is not how I am ever). He was incredibly out of line, abrasive and abusive. I have never been treated like that by anyone. Horrible experience. Not kidding. Just stay away. The food was not good that day. And after that, I enjoyed none of my food.I really did not think it had much complexity. Boring. read more

No matter how good you think your food is, customer service is most important. Had a horrible experience with the owner, made a common mistake with my order and yelled at me for asking for it to be remade to the point I was almost crying when I got back to the table. I tipped and was super nice about it and work in the industry, understand the struggle but that was completely out of pocket. Will never be going back! read more

Wow does this place disappoint. I ordered one of each of the tacos (4 total tacos) and it took 30-40 minutes to get them. My family got their food and ate it before I got mine.
