This place is amazing! I've been wanting to try it for a while, and finally got a chance today. Seriously so good! I ordered a Brianna style arepa and plantains, both were perfection. The plantains were hot, barely sweet, and had great texture. The arepa has black beans, big pieces of avocado, and perfectly seasoned beef. Was each thing big enough to share? Yes! Should I have shared? Also yes! Did I share? NOPE. I ate so many plaintains I couldn't really eat much of the arepa, but I tried. I have leftovers for later, and I'm not mad about it. It may not reheat perfectly, but it will still taste great. I also tried a bite of empanada- they aren't really my thing. It tasted good though, and had a crispy shell. The filling was tasty. If you're an empanada fan, I'd recommend them for sure! They have a soup that needs a couple days notice, and I will for sure be ordering that. If it's half as good as the arepa, it will be worth the order time! Definitely check this little truck out, it's a great addition to the food options in Eugene! read more

Coming from the east coast, I was fortunate to have Colombian Food easily accessible to quell any craving. Then I moved to SD and finding Colombian food became more difficult but still accessible. Moving to the greater Eugene area, I thought Taco-Time was the closest I'd ever get to Comida Colombiana until getting the heads up on El Sitio. My Abuelita (from Bogotá) made a mean empanada and that's the first dish I tried. STELLAR is an understatement as El Sitio does a legit empanada. The empanada filling was perfect and so flavorful and not greasy at all. The Ají salsa that accompanied these 4 empanadas was perfectly seasoned. As soon as I scarfed down my 4, I quickly shared my find with my friends and now all of y'all. I will most definitely be going back (in like 45min) to try something else. We had empanadas and patacón pisao. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted so good we came back just a few days later and got a repeat. The owner was very friendly. The only downside is if you want yuca frita you have to order 3 days in advance! We'll be back frequently, although it's a schlep from where we live, and when we get to the arepas I'm sure they'll be as excellent as the patacón and empanadas. read more

Wow, we tried El Sitio yesterday for the first time, and our food was amazing. I had the arepa llarena (not spicy), and my husband had the chicken chipotle arepa (spicy). We've never had an arepas before, but will definitely be going back. Made from masarepa and griddled, arepas make the most amazing "bread" to hold all the yumminess inside. (The llarena has shredded beef, cheese, avocado, plantain, and pico de gallo). I want another one right now. :) We also tried the passion fruit juice drink which was also fabulous. I love this place! Not only is the food unique and delicious but the owners are amazing people with excellent customer service skills. This is a food cart downtown Eugene. I bought a few different items so I could try more than one item. I loved it so much, I came back the next day for more of what I loved. If you have food allergies, they'll accommodate happily. The menu does change so the pics of the menu may not represent what you'll find there. The location doesn't have seating but if you walk a block down Willamette, there are other food trucks and lots of seating. Keep in mind, people will share tables without asking and that's ok in this area so keep an open mind :) I highly recommend the food, anything from the menu really. read more

I've been 3 times in the last 2 weeks and I can't wait to go again! I've only tried the Llanera arepa, but now I crave them. The arepa is cooked perfectly with tender masa and grilled crisp on the outside. The beef is perfectly tender and so tasty, a bit of sliced avocado, pico, and the most perfectly caramelized plantains served piping hot. It is probably enough for 2 people, but I have a hard time sharing. Next time I will stop to take a photo! The family that runs this is friendly and kind. The vegetarian one was filled with cheese, beans, avocado, and sweet plaintains-surprisingly filling, unsurprisingly delicious. I was really hungry today and hadn't eaten breakfast, and during my 30 minute break I tried El Sitio out of desperation, as it was the only place open with vegan options, and I was amazed! The owner is so sweet and caring, and I can tell she puts love into the food. I'm used to being treated like an alien for my vegana, but she was super cool, and the food was INCREDIBLE! The THICK homemade corn tortilla was hearty and filling, with a wonderful round flavor. The fried plantains were AMAZING, so yummy. We love this place! Sweet plantains are so delicious and they know how to cook them to hot perfection!

Arepas are one of my favorite foods since traveling to Venezuela back in 2007. They're hard to find in the PNW, though, so I learned to make them myself. Just out of curiosity I asked on a Facebook Foodies page if there were any arepas in Eugene and someone suggested El Sitio, a food cart downtown. Finally got to try it out, and Wow! What a find! I had their shredded beef arepa and my husband had the vegetarian one. Both were great. The shredded beef one has a sauce on it that's like a really good barbecue sauce (much better than any barbeque I've found in Eugene to date). Got an empanada on the side and it, too, was delicious! Perfectly crispy crust enclosing a savory filling. The only downside is that there are no tables at this food cart pod. Might be okay for people picking up lunch to take back to the office, but not for out-of-town visitors. We had to eat in the car. Nevertheless, I shall return! read more

I finally gave this food cart a shot today and I am so hating that I hadn't tried them sooner! I got the vegetable arepa and it was divine! Served hot and fast! Plenty of ingredients (lots of avocado) . I thought i could save half for later but i just couldn't stop eating it. The seasoning was perfect...a bit of a kick, but not too much and they serve it with some pico de gallo if you want more spice. There was a sweetness of something in there - some veggie or sauce that i just couldn't pinpoint, but it really helped make the arepa tasty and unique.
