Tonight after work, I went to Tacovore with my husband for a late dinner, We arrived about 6:50, the line went pretty quickly and by 7:05, my order was placed. By 7:40, neither our drinks or chips and guac had arrived, so I went to the cantina to inquire on the estimated delivery time. Upon approaching the cantina, I saw two drinks that could be ours, Kitty the manager told me she needed to confirm I had actually made the order, I showed her our table and she looked it up to confirm, the only issue at this point was we had ordered two house margs light ice with an extra shit of silver and the silver was missing. I simply mentioned it was missing, the bar tender got me the shots and I confirmed I did not owe extra (I had paid, it was just missed). I also asked about chips and guac, was told it was coming. About 7:50, I questioned Kitty again about the chips and guac, indicating I knew they were busy, just checking in. At 8:05, our tacos were delivered and I asked again about the chips and guac. At this point, things went south, I was told that our order was fraught with errors and there was no way their could have been that many errors that were not our fault by Kitty, that we simply did not order the chips and guac and that they were out of stock 20 minutes earlier. I told Kitty, that we had ordered and I reminded her that I'd even checked with her personally twice prior. She offered a refund and I declined, but felt super frustrated by the lack of customer service and the accusatory way in which Kitty treated me, I'd left a 20% tip. Mind you, I never raised my voice nor was I less than appreciative in any fashion. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when the table behind us started verbally abusing my partner and I while we were trying to eat out dinners, saying "those people ruined my appetite ", "no one deserves a refund over chips and guac." "What is wrong with those people anyway." I was trying to be understanding and respectful, but when I lifted up this behavioral issue up to Kitty, she told me we deserved it! That my husband and I deserved to be verbally abused and threatened by another customer for inquiring about the whereabouts of an item we believed to have ordered. No patron or staff deserve abusive behavior and to be told by the acting manager we deserved this type of treatment is unprofessional at best! I've been a Tacovore patron for the better part of 8 years. We spend a substantial $$ each visit, I understand staffing constraints have made it difficult for all businesses, but that does not excuse blaming your clients or for unprofessional behavior. In the end, against my request, Kitty refunded our order, but never apologized for her blatant disregard for poor customer service, her stating we deserved to be verbally abused by another patron or her disregard for our continued attempts at clarifying our order! My feelings are terribly hurt by this unfortunate experience, we have loved Tacovore as a family gathering place, we feel forced to look for other alternatives at this point. read more

This is one of my hubby's favorite spots in Eugene. It is just really chill, not too crowded or too much hype. They have plenty of vegetarian friendly choices. They, have plenty of indoor seating as well as a generous patio for nice days. Their margaritas are pretty amazing. What else can you ask for besides "Taco & Tequila"? If you want to be apart of a bustling and hip restaurant check out Tacovore! The downtown location coupled with a palpable vibe makes for a good time. The popularity of this place is impressive. There were so many eager customers that the line went out the door while the inside filled with cacophonous banter. The tacos are tasty but the chips and salsa were bereft in flavor. The salsa that came with the chips was flavorful but a bit tame. They did have others salsas, including a chipotle and a habanero. The chips seemed house made. Ok, so we had a pretty hit or miss time w GF food in Eugene, Oregon. I really had high hopes for this town and the GF options, but sadly, many of the recos on Find Me GF were bunk! After a couple spots all tested the dreaded Gluten Found! I was feeling a bit discouraged, then we tried Tacovore! WOW! I'm a SoCal guy who's pretty particular about his tacos and these guys didn't disappoint! (Pic 1) Shrimp was double back flip roundhouse to the mouth! Very flavorful, slightly spicy, tangy...Our fav! (Pic 2) The pescado. Their fish taco was flaky, tender but firm, crunchy and amazing! (Pic 3) Old E (top left w bite out) is your typical hard shell taco, was ok. Carne Asada (bottom) was tender and delicious, what you'd expect from a good carne asada taco take me back to SoCal summertime, poolside! Grilled chicken (top) was super flavorful and our second favorite of the bunch. We also got some margaritas to go (Covid rules/closed in person dining). We took it all back to our motorcoach and enjoyed it there! Soooo good and those drinks didn't play! Half a marg and I was toasty and grinning haha. Everything tested safe, almost their whole menu is GF. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and helpful and they take food allergies seriously. Tacovore is a restaurant that people cannot stop recommending to me so this weekend we waited in line for a half hour to see what the hype was all about. Reader, it was worth it! It's hard finding good vegetarian Mexican food that isn't just random vegetables, beans and cheese (which, let's be honest, I make at home and enjoy more than what I've tried in the area) but Tacovore hit it out of the park with their options. We ordered the tofu taco (crispy, salsa verde, cabbage, amazing!); chipotle tempeh (good flavor but overall too dry for me, husband happily scarfed the other half); bean and cheese (with some pickled veg in it, delicious); breakfast burrito (husband said one of the best we've had in the area, partly because they use actual, real eggs instead of reconstituted egg material? Also this came with chips, we both really liked their chips); and last but not least, the old E (husband was very happy with this as well). We are definitely going back because they have seasonal tacos (the vegetarian option was butternut squash with Brussels sprouts), fish tacos (for our friends), and allegedly some of the best margaritas in the area (don't worry, we'll taste test ). read more

Wow! This was my daughter's favorite place to eat while a student at UO the past 4 years, and I finally got to try it, and now I wish we had one in California where I live! Everything was superb, with each unique type of Taco being flavorful and having some "unusual" ingredient - like ginger in the mushroom taco and jicama in one of their others. Our family ordered about 6 different kinds of tacos, and everyone loved theirs. And their sauces - the yellowish habanero sauce was perfection, high heat AND flavor! I just wish I could've tried their ceviche (they were out the day we went). Not sure of their food is "authentic" Mexican or Latin or TexMex or what, But who cares when it's this good!! Final bonus! Everything is priced fairly, and the tacos are small enough that you can tailor your meal to your eating habits and pay for what you can eat. Outstanding place.... With great service and vibes too!! This place has amazing energy. We loved the food and margaritas so much that we ate lunch and dinner there! First trip we had chicken mole and carne asada tacos with a pineapple Habanero and house margarita. For dinner we had hard shell beef and chorizo tacos with muddled jalapeno and strawberry margaritas plus a shot of a Blanco tequila (forgot name.. but it was smooth!) All the food here has complexity of flavor. The crema on some of the tacos was tasty and added to the dish. All the proteins used were cooked to perfection and left u wanting more. Stopped here on a long drive and it was great. We had a few different veg tacos, all delish (tofu, mushroom, zucchini on special). Fresh chips and guacamole, kids liked their bean and cheese (very reasonably priced kids options). These are probably the best tacos I've ever had. Words cannot describe how amazing these tacos are. Everybody in my group went for seconds. This place is pretty good (for Eugene, OR). Don't expect it to match the food in a city/town that has a significant Latin/Mexican population/traditional, but still, very worthwhile. LOTS of different kinds of tacos. I tried one fish, one shrimp and one chili. The shrimp was best. Good chips - lots of different salsas. Also served up an excellent salad - probably exceeded the tacos in quality, actually. Upon entering, seemed like it would be a long wait, but it wasn't too bad, even though we were there at prime time on a weekend. I want to give this place five stars, but I just...can't. The food is terrific. Bomb tacos. The chorizo and their fried calamari taco they had on special stunned my taste buds they were so good. Super hopping spot in the ever-trending Whitaker neighborhood, especially during their happy hour. Staff here is pretty amazing as well. Friendly and efficient. It's just that the price for items received isn't a great value. After three tacos (which is a meal for me), plus tip and the 6% service charge, we're approaching $20. And that's without margaritas. Which means a visit here for bomb tacos doesn't happen as often as I'd like. read more

A friend took me and my wife to this place for lunch. Maybe the worst service I have ever experienced. The servers seem like they are entitled and way too good to be serving lowly restaurant patrons. Snotty and indifferent. Kind of like the cold tacos we waited 20 minutes for. During the long wait, I ordered a 2nd beverage that cost $3.00. Standing at the bar, the server poured my soft drink, took my $5 bill, made change, and pocketed the $2 difference. Huh? I stared at her and she said, "oh, did you need your change?" Hell yes. Then she shot me a dirty look as she fumbled it out of her apron pocket. What a miserable place, I'll never go there again. I love the atmosphere here especially in the Summer time. You can sit outside have a nice margarita and even bring your dog! Ummmm hello win! The staff is super friendly and they are on top of keeping it clean and a friendly upbeat vibe. It can get super loud Inside so on beautiful days I recommend sitting in the outside dinning area. If you do decide to get your food to go and if decide on the street tacos keep in mind they get really soggy in the foil because they continue to cook. Been here a couple of times for brunch and love this place. Have had their breakfast taco with tempeh, chicken tacos, mushroom tacos and tofu tacos. They are all completely amazing. Each order is a single taco, so I generally order two of each. Their salsa bar has a good variety as well. Yummy! I loved this location when it was Pizza Research and I think I like it even better as Tacovore. It is kind of like taco truck meets German beer hall. The variety of tacos is good. They have almost as many specials for the day as they have on their printed menu so there is definitely something for everyone. At the recommendation of one of our party who eats here often, I ordered three tacos (two chicken and one seafood). I was full at the end of the two chicken but forced myself to at least try the seafood one. They were all very good, but I did like the chicken better than the bay shrimp. (it was a sauce thing) They have a number of different taco/hot sauces that you can try as well ranging from sweet to heat. I'm not from Eugene but some of my family is and every time I come to visit we always come here and it is my favorite mexican food in Oregon if not the West Coast! So obviously their main and most popular thing is their tacos! They make about 8 different type of tacos. I always get about 1 of each except the veggie and tofu taco but I've tried a bite of each and they're pretty good but I'm a meat eater! So my favorite taco and probably their best because of the way they cook it is their mole verde taco! The meat is so juicy with so much flavor and then slow cooked to perfection. Then their next best taco is their Carnitas which has also got a ton of flavor and cooked to perfection! Oh and their tortillas have got to be the best homemade tortillas I have EVER had in my life! Then they're fish taco is amazing followed by their carne asada! They also have some of the best fresh salsa and guacamole as well. And for their drinks they have some of the best fresh margaritas I have ever had as well. They do a guava margarita that is to die for and if you like horchata you will love theirs!! This place is always busy! Lines to the door most days no matter what time you get there! The food is hot & tastes delicious. Prices are high, quality is high. Margarita's are strong and flavorful. Atmosphere is always high. Service is usually quick. To the point. Lots of seating which is nice for how busy it is. Usually able to find a decent spot and meet new people. I got the pork & carne asada tacos. Both delicious. Chips & salsa & guacamole are good. I feel like the amount of chips is always way less than the amount of dip. I know Tacovore is one of the top taco places in town, and I was so excited to try my first one at a family gathering. Our group filled up a large table and my wife and I placed chairs at the end of the table. No one was seated at the table behind us when we sat down. Unfortunately that changed and we didn't notice. A server walked by us, and in a very unfriendly tone said "that won't work- we have to be able to get by." It completely killed any desire to patronize this restaurant. I politely told her how we felt and we left. I'm sure our family had a great meal, but we couldn't enjoy the experience- sorry Tacovore....one rude server can kill a meal. read more

This place is super great! Obviously they have lots of tacos that are really good! This last time I went I got a chicken sandwich though! The chicken was tender and had amazing spices on it as well as a lot of toppings which made for a very tasty sandwich! Their chips and guacamole are really good. Their main salsa isn't my fave, but they have a salsa bar that you can choose different types of salsa you might want! They have a pineapple salsa which is my favorite kind ever, so I was really happy about that! Parking around the area is kind of a struggle, but you can find some if you drive around a little!
