Five stars for service. Five stars for views…read more4-5 stars for location 3.5 stars for food Service: Ava was our server on first night. Vanessa was our server for second night. Ava remembered it was our anniversary on night two and told Vanessa to be sure to offer us something special. Earlier in the day, I just wanted a cold soda to drink. The hostess brings me a cold drink and says no charge and she wouldn't accept a tip. Service with a smile! Views and location: busy area, parking lot is nearby, I think it's $26. View on patio looks out onto Rainbow Harbor, The Queen Mary and Shoreline Village. The nighttime view is spectacular! Patio seating is comfortable. Maybe could use an update. Food: it's ok. Clam chowder was pretty good. Fish and chips were a huge portion and BIL said it was good. Coconut shrimp was a little undercooked. Nice that they accommodated husband with grilled bok Choi, which was actually very good! Location for us was actually perfect and convenient being that we stayed at Dock 5 on a boat.

So now everybody thinks that the clam chowder is gluten free, and it is not. I even went in there recently, and one person at our table who was Celiac asked, and the server told them at the time that it was safe. Based on the reviews and their assurance my friend ordered the chowder. They said it was delicious. One of the best clam chowders they ever had, but then later that night they were in distress. We didn't think it was Gladstones, because of everything we had read, and the assurance of the server. Now we know what caused it. Gladstone's PLEASE FIX THIS!!! Take 15 minutes to Create a separate sheet/menu for your servers that they can give to someone with Celiac or gluten intolerance so you don't accidentally poison your sensitive guests anymore. Until the restaurant takes some step for safety, I do not feel confident recommending them, as it has been shown that the majority of staff has no idea, and is misinforming the guests. I will happily up my review, once something has been done.

A New Job, A New Milestone & A Chance to Rewrite the Narrative…read more My best friend and I have a tradition of celebrating new jobs with a nice dinner. Since this was her new job and a major milestone, I let her choose the restaurant. She had visited Bo-Beau last year but didn't get the full experience, so this was her chance to rewrite the narrative. And it was truly night and day. I researched the restaurant beforehand and was excited to see that Bo-Beau is part of the Cohn Restaurant Group, which I mostly associate with San Diego and South Orange County. After this experience, I really hope they're here to stay. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating her new job, and for once, the restaurant actually read the note and acknowledged it. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was excellent. The hostess welcomed us downstairs, another staff member greeted us when we reached the rooftop, and our server quickly followed up. Then came the surprise: complimentary champagne for both of us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially because those little celebratory touches seem to be increasingly rare. Our server was also patient with our questions and attentive throughout the evening without being intrusive. We spent about 2.5 hours enjoying dinner and catching up over: Baked Brie Brussels Sprouts Steak Frites Everything was flavorful, and the entire experience felt relaxed, peaceful, and worth the price point. The food was great, but the hospitality is what earned the 5 stars for me. Real hospitality is paying attention to the guest, recognizing the occasion, and making people feel genuinely welcomed. My best friend got the celebration she wanted -- and a much better Bo-Beau experience this time around. Will definitely be returning!

Since we were at the convention center across the street, Kalaveras is really convenient if you're around downtown Long Beach. We were seated immediately and had our orders fairly quickly. We had a long day of walking around, so we cooled off with a Mojito and La Katrina mocktail. I ordered the Kala Burrito while wifey ordered the 1 Enchilada and 1 Chile Relleno combination. Basic chips and salsa were brought out while we waited. Our waitress accidentally forgot my wife's mocktail and brought us two Mojitos. She immediately realized her mistake and gave us the second Mojito for free while she went back for the mocktail. Honestly that stood out as really good service. Naturally a free drink sounds good to most everyone, but the fact that she recognized her mistake and rectified it as soon as it happened speaks volumes of her professionalism. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time for being a pretty busy Friday night. My wife's combination plate was great with the Enchilada de Mole being the standout. My burrito was huge in size and very filling (I could've done without the fries in the burrito but that's just a personal preference and no biggie). Kalaveras can be slightly pricey but it's a good place to get some grub and drinks after a long day on your feet. Catch up with friends, go on date night, or have a family outing - Kalaveras is the spot for any occasion! They're open late, have lunch specials, daily specials, Saturday & Sunday brunch, happy hour, etc. They also offer a complimentary photo card if you want to commemorate your outing!

The food also came out surprisingly fast. I ordered the pollo saltado, which I would give a 4/5. The chicken and overall dish were good, but I wasn't a big fan of the flavor of the thin French fries that came with it. I think the dish would be even better with different fries. Overall, good service, quick food, and a nice experience. I'd come back and try something else next time!

Despite how simple the food might look, everything was intentional, flavorful, fresh, and delicious! The shrimp and melon salad was a personal favorite - enjoying it outside on a beautiful day, it felt as if I was on a summer vacation in Europe. If we're ever back in town, we would love to try their handmade pasta and pizzas. The only downside is that parking is a little tricky in this area, so come a little earlier than your reservation time. But overall, we were happy with the food, service, and ambience. The only thing was that flies kept bothering us (my goodness were they hungry), but the waiter graciously gave us a spinning fly deterrent fan (which somewhat worked)... I suppose that's to be expected when you sit outside. We ordered 6 oysters to share ($5.50 each with 6 minimum oyster order) and the tagliatelle for each of us. The oysters were delicious and paired well with the provided seasonings. The tagliatelle was creamy and savory with the shrimp and scallops, but I was expecting the pork ragu and bone marrow butter to shine more in the dish- couldn't really taste them. Service was standard, parking is on the street but was not difficult to find. Overall this was a cute corner brunch/lunch spot
