When asked if I would return surprise surprise for the first time ever I would have to say no to tacos. I feel like changing my mind already but anyway it's not just tacos. Passing by on my way to Atlantic terminal this was the second Latin restaurant with outdoor seating and a huge red bus as their extended outdoor structure across from the BAM. My first thought was cold water and shade. I was hungry of course so tacos woooowhoo and maybe beer to. I walk up & the hostess is PAHZAZZZ like full of energy and quick and attentive. Like his energy woke me up! I headed in the structure which was my first choice of seating- it was HOT in there I was like omg no. Headed for the tables with umbrellas and got lucky to get a small slice of shade to hang under. I ordered from the cute paper choice menu with the cute little pencils that they had. Crispy fish taco- 5/5 Perfect, crispy, sauce worked well Carnitas- 1/5 This steak taco was a no for me no flavor Esquite- 3/5 Interesting in a cup, decent toppings cute little spoon but half way down it was watery which I didn't like Watermelon cocktail- 2/5 It was missing something very light beverage The service left me with much to be desired. Like in the end the server was like did you need something- I'm like yeah (napkins) that I got up and went to get myself after the food was served. Napkins should just be mandatory when you have finger foods. Spent $35 did not think it was worth it. read more

We came for a quick meal post a show -- Since it was warm, we ordered the watermelon drink and horchata to start. They provide menus with pencils to select the options you want so we each selected different tacos as well as chips & guacamole. For tacos we had between us: seared fish, chicken, carnitas, al pastor, and shrimp. They initially missed the chicken and had to be reminded -- though honestly I was a bit full once that extra taco arrived. It seemed fresh and we enjoyed being able to sit outside under their structure on a muggy evening. It's a place I'd eat again though I'd label it more like healthy fast food. read more

Tacombi - Amazing tacos and quesadilla - Mexican Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Guacamole has no flavor, tacos are nothing special, service was atrocious. Could not get anyone's attention and they were not even busy, all of the workers were just talking with each other. I will not be coming back. The only good thing was the drinks but too expensive and they don't have happy hour on the weekends... read more

Slow service, seem understaffed, food took long time to arrive and not that tasty, good ambiance but just taking a while to even get a hold of anyone who works there. Will not be coming back and I never leave bad reviews but I was not a fan. read more

Tacombi is a good choice when you have a large party. They are accommodating and the food is decent. Food: we had Al pastor tacos, carne asada, guac and chips. It was ok. The carne asada was ehh and the Al pastor tacos were ok. Their watermelon margarita is super delicious. Service: friendly and fast service. Ambiance: it felt a little overwhelming with the amount of people. We had a large party and were accommodated but it felt a little tight because the tables are so close together in the outdoor covered dining area. Also because it's outdoors, depending where you sit, the heat hits you directly and it's too hot, or the heat barely hits you and it's cold. I recommend sitting inside and keeping it small, 4 people max. read more

It's 1130 on a Saturday and they're completely out of chicken for the day?? I don't eat pork or beef, so the next option for me was sweet potatoes and for some reason they can't put that in a quesadilla? Very disappointing experience. I did not end up getting food and I will not be returning. read more

got take out tacos, a plain quesadilla, and guacamole. the rib eye beef tacos were inediblue. completely dried out, rough, paper thin pieces of beef that were like jerky! no kidding. seriously like dried beef jerky. the guacamole which was $9 for a small size was made with extremely unripe avocados, also rendering it inedible. the only edible item was a plain quesadilla. they didn't give any salsa for it or anything, no pico. so I spent $30 plus tip for a very small plain cheese quesadilla. truly horrible horrible food. such a shame as I have been a loyal customer of the original in Nolita. I guess with so many locations it's now the McDonalds of tacos but not as tasty. read more

Tacombi is not the best Mexican restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. New York City is blessed with a variety of Mexican food, including regional specialities. That said, Tacombi is still very good, and their takeout is top notch. I moved to New York several months ago. By coincidence, Tacombi was the first place I stopped to eat upon arrival in Brooklyn. While good, it felt a bit overpriced (little did I know), and maybe a bit too upscale for what I want from a Mexican restaurant (the ingredients feel a bit fresher and less greasy than many other Mexican restaurants I've praised in the past, which I've come to appreciate). That said, I certainly couldn't fault the service or the ambiance of the place, and there was a clear commitment to quality, with tortillas being fresh and the menu a decent representation of the breadth of Mexican food. After that first experience I started buying burritos from a nearby food truck as I worked from home. They were okay, but they were still $11 and if there was a line, it could take a while. This is where I discovered how good Tacombi is at takeout. Their website allows you to order directly (no separate website or accounts required), and food is regularly ready in 15 minutes, though I've gotten a burrito in as little as five minutes. Simply put, the takeout here is so good that I've stopped ordering other things for lunch. If you are in the area and want a good burrito in 5 minutes, there's really no better option. My only complaint is that they refuse to sell me a bottle of the table salsa to use at home, but they'll gladly provide a small side of the sauce. At the end of the day, this place is the best option to get Mexican takeout quickly in the area. Prices are reasonable, service is great, and the pickup process always go well. Though I've yet to dine in restaurant since my first visit, I can very easily see myself having some drinks during happy hour. If you live nearby and need lunch, you could do a whole lot worse. read more

The fish tacos are pretty good here which is what lured me into dining here a few times. I've dined in twice and did take out a couple of times. Aside from the tacos, the corn in the cup is tasty. I would say that this place is a bit pricey overall. Therefore, I wouldn't come here on a regular basis. However, it's worth trying at least once or twice. read more

Let me start off this review by saying this, I've worked in the service industry for many years and have always been generous about the overall situation, but sadly this Tacombi location had some of the worst service I've experience. We booked a reservation for 6:30, everyone was on time except for myself. Take that into consideration I informed my party what i would order to ensure all the food was there prior to my arrival. I arrived at 6:45 and yet no water, chips, or orders have been taking from my party of six. I inquired why and everyone looked as dumb founded as I was. I did see that there was a decent amount of foot traffic and mind you no one in my party is as out spoken as myself. So as we sat there approaching 6:55pm we finally were greeted by a waiter. Unknowing to my knowledge I was told the waiter had come around once but had yet to provide any water or to the table as all drinks were currently served. No biggie... the waiter arrived we ordered and once again asked for water in addition to other drinks. We began to watch as other customers and guests were sat down and were catered to as we kind of sat there aimlessly twirling our thumbs wondering if we had been forgot about. At this point I took it upon myself to go to the bar to retrieve the drinks that were probably never coming in addition to asking for water. (7:10pm) I informed our waiter I understand that they are experiencing high volume but just small communication would have been appreciated. I kind of began to get a bit frustrated when my wife informed me that the table behind us was seated after us and had already received their food and drinks. Now I'm like WTF ?!? But yet and still I'm very understanding. Our waiter was kind but seemed overwhelmed and it seemed like there was a lack of communication going on between the kitchen and the staff. Why may you ask did I come to this assessment, well, it was because once we received our food it was wrong I mean like dishes had toppings we asked to be removed, items were forgot, and if it wasn't for my very out going personality I would have never received the drinks I ordered. I'm going to be completely transparent here I am a Brooklynite by heart true native New York and when I looked around I didn't see too many people of color in this environment, it felt as if all my fellow white counterparts were being waited on hand and foot while we were being pushed to the side. But wait ! A young African American woman that was seated 20-25 mins after us was served as the queen she probably was. I was taken back, almost flabbergasted by the way servers swooped to her with finesse and ease, and in the same breath almost heart broken that we had yet to receive that kind of service and treatment. Nonetheless being the man and dad I am i began to inquire if everything at the table was accurate and went from there and ensure the rest of the evening went well. This isn't a post to bash anyone or discredit the staff nor restaurant but to respectfully inform them on how I was amazed that they actually had it in them, but either 1. Choose not to show that service to our party or 2. Was selective with who they deemed worthy. I sadly will not be coming back to this location and I'll spare that extra details that I could write on and on about, but in hindsight it made me realize why I'm extremely selective about the places I venture to. Maybe I'll visit the Tacombi in SoHo again because I never had a negative experience or not one that was so baffling that I wrote an essay on. Needless to say I wish them the best and hope this bias behavior that was displayed from my fellow Hispanic brothers and sisters isn't an example of how they conduct business. Sidebar the bartender speedy nice and smooth. Sadly no apology was issued or even acknowledged by them. Mad love tho Tacombi read more

I always see Tacombi restaurants all over the city, and walk past this particular one almost daily. During warmer weather months, their outdoor seating is always filled, likely for their happy hour deals on drinks We finally tried it, after living in this area for the last 4 years. I can now see why everyone comes for happy hour (4-7pm). It's a great place to get apps and drinks, but dinner will definitely cost you. Their tacos are street sized, but are very expensive for the amount you get. I liked the flavor of the al pastor and fried fish tacos, but probably wouldn't get too many if we go again. I was excited to try the corn in a cup app that I always see people get, but it fell a little short. It's similar to elote, but can get soggy towards the end. Definitely try their chips and guac though! the chips are on the thicker side, but so crunchy and actually comes with a decent portion. read more

Elena and Gio made our night! Love Tacombi and the vibes so much. Everything was great.

Solid quick Mexican restaurant in Ft. Green across from BAM. My friends and I went before a late night movie at BAM. The margaritas are decent, the spicy margarita is better than the Paloma. The service is fast. The tacos are good, I recommend the Al pastor taco. The guacamole and also the corn with cheese are good sides to share. The ambiance is minimal and feels like you're in a cantina in the middle of BK. read more

Ambiance: I dined here alone but wished I had not. The restaurant has so much energy inside and on the patio. It was the social vibes that drew me in as I walked by. I almost forgot that I was in Brooklyn. The decor is reminiscent of the locally-owned mom-and-pop restaurants I have visited in Latin countries. Pops of bright and vibrant colors and upbeat music greet you upon entrance. EVERYTHING SMELLED AMAZING. The decor was simple, clean, bright, and inviting. Food: The lime-to-salt ratio in the guacamole was perfectly balanced. I was expecting tortillas chips when I ordered the dish, but I was pleasantly surprised by the tortillas instead; I loved it! The tacos were well constructed. The tortilla (100% corn) was durable enough to hold the juicy contents but not too thick. The meat and salsas were rich in flavor and had deep flavor complexity. I was full after eating the appetizer and two tacos. Service: Immaculate and timely. I never felt rushed, and the server was friendly. read more

This restaurant should be considered a staple in Brooklyn, if your looking for authentic Mexican food and drinks this is the place. If you've ever visited Mexico and ate in the local places then Tacombi will take you right back to that. Everything about this place screams Mexico, from the tile wall decor, iron chairs and table, lipita Augusta's frescas and sodas lining the walls, fruits. What I love about this place is the food, the price point is excellent and the food is filling and tasty. They cater to everyone, vegan, pescatarian those who eats everything, my go too is the rice and beans which comes with a few tortilla chips on top, corn esquites, avocado tostadas and their pineapple juice that's freshly made. The severs are polite and friendly, the food is expedited in a timely manner. 10/10 read more

Came here for a quick takeout meal after shopping around the block at Whole Foods. There was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and the place seemed to be pretty busy. The staff at the podium outside were chitchatting and seemed annoyed that I interrupted their convo to order food. I got the black bean and sweet potato taco, avocado tostada, and the sandia drink. Both the taco and tostada were made deliciously and I enjoyed them very much. It was a pretty small portion for the price but you could tell that they used good quality ingredients to make it. The presentation was great from the packaging to the actual food. The Sandia drink was good with distinct watermelon flavors but a little too sweet for me. Overall, this place had tasty food and a well decorated environment that seemed inviting to all. read more

Usually I enjoy this spot but the food came out notably dry. The servers and host were accommodating, but we were greeted twice and had to ask for water twice. Tacombi is literally the stable/reliable friend everyone wants in their life- it's consistent, it's reliable and always pleasant. This one is located right in front of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, just so you know. Food (as with the other locations) was on point. Fill out your little order sheet, pass it to the server and voila- delicious food. Guac and chips is a must! I have no idea how they get the guacamole to that perfect texture/consistency/flavor and the chips so crispy but its fantastic and delicious. My personal favorite is the Baja Crispy Fish taco (how do they get it so crispy but so light?!) that's served with shredded cabbage, but also strongly recommend the al pastor (marinated pork with pineapple) and carne asada. They have a veggie taco (sweet potato and black beans) that will also surely please. Fast service and consistent- did I mention they have great drinks too? read more

Since my friend was craving Mexican cuisine, we decided to try this place. We were seated in the back area which was open-air, with plenty of natural light and space. There was a casual, chill vibe to the place. We were each given a menu and told that we fill out only 1 menu based on how many of each item the table wants. That was a little annoying, but we finally figured it out. The menu was also very limited and only offered a few appetizers, tacos and quesadillas. Of course, I had the horchata drink, as well as a crispy fish taco and a shrimp quesadilla. The horchata was okay, but it tasted like it was made from a powder, instead of being made fresh. I was quite disappointed by the crispy fish taco. It was tiny without a whole lot of fish, even though it cost $5.95... For one! The fish was Atlantic haddock and included poblano mayo, as well as cabbage and other veggies, on top a soft shell taco. The fish was tasty - Nicely crispy, tender and flavorful. That mayo sauce was also very good and mingled well with the other ingredients. The shrimp quesadilla consisted of seared Pacific shrimp and dried chili salsa, which I asked for on the side, fearing it would be too spicy for me. This was also not what I expected. It was open-faced and in addition to the shrimp, there were diced onions and cilantro (which I am not a fan of). I did enjoy the melted white cheese and the shrimp, which was deliciously well seasoned with a delightful blend of different spices. Service was a bit abrupt and it seemed like our waitress was kind of all over the place, probably due to the business of the restaurant. At least the waitress was able to answer all our many questions and accommodated most of our requests. Since the food did not impress me, I will not be returning. read more

Went for my first time this past weekend. Worst location I've been to in New York. Our waitress brought over half of our food after we had been waiting for 30 minutes and told us the rest of our items will be out in just a couple minutes. 20 minutes goes by and she hasn't come back to our table. I had to go up to the hostess to ask her to bring our waitress over because there were issues with items we had already gotten and that we were still missing some of our food. When our waitress came back we told her what we were missing and she said she would go see what was going on. We waited another 20 minutes but nothing came, we paid for what we got then left. Horrible service, no communication, I understand it was somewhat busy but I would've expected some sort of discount or at least remorse for our experience. I will never return, sucks because what we did receive was good. Other locations are better, skip this one! read more

This is a hard review to give because I liked half of my food a lot but I did not like the other half. And they messed up my order twice. I ordered the seared fish taco (they gave me the baja crisp fish). HOWEVER I loved the baja crispy fish. I would come back just for that taco. Also ordered the corn equites and also really enjoyed that. Both of those items get a 5 out of 5. I ordered the al pastor taco and would pass on that. It was great because of the pineapple but overall not very flavorful. got the la bisteca burrito and I put no onions and there was a lot of onions. The rice and beans were good, the meat was okay. read more

We enjoyed the outdoor seating on Sunday afternoon. Started with the chips and guac, which were very tasty. My wife enjoyed a margarita and the kids split a watermelon aquafresa. Kids had a chicken quesadilla. They said it was spicy, but both gobbled it up. We shared the pork and egg breakfast tacos, our favorite. Good to have two of them on one plate! Then we shared carnitas and el pastor. (All tacos were on corn). Carnitas was great, pastor we would pass on next time. My wife also enjoyed the street corn.
