A very nice authentic experience just as the name suggests. One of the best guacamole & chips using a molcajete to grind up all the ingredients. While I'm not a fan of cilantro it was still fresh and delicious. The best thing is the shrimp quesadillas and I prefer the flour tortillas. The portion was giant which could be shared with others. It had chipotle mayonnaise and avocado sauce which made it even better. It was cheesy, juicy, and flavorful. As a drink, I got the strawberry lemonade that was nice and refreshing. The waiter and service were also nice. Overall, I would recommend others to try. read more

Came here for Saturday brunch. There's outdoor seating as well but we opted for indoor instead. The restaurant name can be a bit confusing as it says something else inside (Haab) so wasn't really sure of the actual name. The server was very nice and thoughtful for bringing out toddler friendly utensils without having us to ask. They even have a kids menu, even though we opted out of that. We ordered elote, chorizo scramble, and a Plato de carnitas. Food is good. read more

I'm obsessed with this place now! I had low/no expectations, I was just craving Mexican food and I was in the area with friends. We came here around 7 on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. The menu is pretty huge and they had so many cool and unique specials like STRAWBERRY HORCHATA??? Obvi I had to get. Plus, I love mole. Like love love it. And they had it on their menu!! You could honestly customize so many items and the variety was unreal. They had vegan, vegetarian, various meats, sauces, etc. I didn't know what to get because I wanted sooo many things, but I opted for the cheese flautas (incredible) and the cheese enchiladas smothered in mole (favorite). Plus it wasn't too expensive for the portion sizes you're getting! Would definitely recommend for a casual meal with friends. read more

Came here for lunch yesterday, and the service was super fast and friendly. I ordered guacamole and chips, mojitos, and the birria tacos with consume, and all were fabulous and prepared with nice presentation. The restaurant itself has a brightly decorated medium-sized dining room with a bar as well as outdoor seating. I enjoyed that their bathroom door featured stained glass. They have more than a few vegetarian and vegan options! They also have "happy hour all day" weekday specials. read more

It is such a fun place, the margaritas are great, and the service is excellent! The tinga burrito was good, delicious perfectly cooked beef, and I loved the side of salsa. The nachos were just ok. The cheese for some reason was on the bottom and the al pastor was overcooked. The green house sauce is herbaceous and flavorful. But although I wouldn't order these dishes I would definitely come back to try some other menu items! read more

I LOVED this place! I sat in their cute outdoor dining area, it has colored lights and potted flowers to decorate. The staff was extremely friendly and nice, very good service. I was pleasantly surprised to find an entire vegan section on the back of the menu! I ordered a vegan burrito recommended by the waitor, my partner got a burrito with pollo in mole sauce, and my friend ordered enchiladas in a green sauce. Everything was outstanding. Went to dinner at Mexico Authentico on Friday night. A high-quality Mexican spot with lots of unique margarita flavors and good food options. Quality: Solid Mexican food and delicious drinks. I had two types of margaritas, the Spicy Mango Margarita and the Habanero Cucumber Margarita. Both were tasty, but the flavor pairing in the Habanero Cucumber Margarita was unique and delicious. For food the Steak Nachos are very good, appreciate how they were layered to ensure each bite comes with lots of flavor. The Carnitas Burrito was fine, the weakest of our food items as it was a bit bland. The Camarones Tacos were excellent, loved the mango salsa to add some freshness. Quantity: Large portions of everything and strong drinks. Value: $12-$15 for Cocteles. $17 for Steak Nachos. $14 for the Carnitas Burrito. $12 for Camarones Tacos. Ambiance: Mexico Authentico is a Mexican restaurant located in Park Slope. They have a small outdoor patio, which is always decorated, and a small indoor dining area. Tables line the left wall, and a small bar can be found on the right. The walls are covered with different flashy decorations and Spanish music played loudly in the background. One large television hung towards the back, but was not on during our visit. Crowd: Very busy for Friday night dinner. The nice thing about dining out in Park Slope is you can count on the service being generally unfriendly and slow. This place is no different. Came here with hubby (vegetarian) and 8 year old son (carnivore)-- so good and everyone's needs were met. They had a separate vegan menu which is always promising. I shared steak tacos with my son (these were excellent) and husband had one of the vegan burritos which was happily different from the usual rice and bean (or bland mixed vegetable) fare you see everywhere else. Had a really odd experience just now with their delivery guy and it's pretty much put me off from ordering from them again. I literally order from this place at least 3 times a week so it goes without saying that the food here is really good. Tonight I received my order and upon opening the bag, the box of salsa was tipped over and had spilled all over the place - the lids of the other food containers were loose so salsa and salsa juice pretty much soaked everything else. Additionally, the container with the tacos had also tipped over and it was basically a mess. I call in to let them know and the person that answered was totally understanding and helpful. I didn't make a big deal about it, it's the first I've ever had to call in, and also told him not to stress and it happens sometimes. He said he would get a new order out in 20 mins and apologized. He asked if I could take some pictures and text him so he could show the driver and I did inform him that everything was in the garbage can. He said it's fine he just needed a few pics. So I snap a few pics showing ALL of the food was dumped and how wet the bag looked. He responded back said food is on the way and apologized again. All good right? Nope. Same delivery guy shows up and I greet him and I'm being cool about the situation cause you know...I know how it can be sometimes. He hands me the food and then this is where it literally goes off the rails: Driver: where's the other food? Me: umm it's in the garbage. Driver: give me the food. Me: but it's in the garbage. It's no longer in the bag cause I pulled everything out and had to dump it. Driver: give me the food. Me: wait? For real? It's literally dumped in the garbage can. Driver: give me the food. I walk over to my garbage can, reach in, and grab the bag that had some of the loose soaked food in there. Driver: where's the rest? Me: all over in the garbage can. Driver: give me the food. Me: you want me to dig out the food that's literally spilled all in the garbage bag? Driver: yes. Give me the food. So I grab the bag and pull it over to show him and this guy starts SORTING THROUGH MY GARBAGE BAG. I'm not even kidding. He's literally trying to go through my garbage to see if I actually ate the food, lied about it, and then called the restaurant to get more food out of them for free. Are you kidding me?!?!?!? So I snatch the bag away, blurt out a bunch of "not-so-pleasant" words...pretty much told him he was being f*cking ridiculous and slammed the door in his face. Look - I'm sure some people have pulled some stuff like this before but I wouldn't do something like that. I worked in hospitality for literally 20 years - I know how this goes. Like I said before, I legit order from this place ALL THE TIME and this was the first time I've ever called in with a complaint. -3 stars for their delivery guy being a complete asshole. read more

Food was cold and took forever, not happy about it at all I will seriously consider before ordering again

We waited a half an hour for our food. During that time we had cocktails and chips. Twenty minutes go by abs we the waiter, Marlon, appears and asks us what we ordered. We tell him and he says that the kitchen mixed up the orders. (If it was the fault of the kitchen then why didn't he know what we ordered?). Flummoxed, since the place was not busy at all, one single and one couple before us. One couple arrived and ordered after us. We tell him again and he says "it will be right out." Ten more minutes go by, during which time he brings out the main courses for the couple who had arrived AFTER us. We decide to go elsewhere and ask for the check. He brings it out with our order and asks if we want it to go. We tell him no, we're not paying for it. read more

Quality local Mexican joint. The donall the Staples well, but they really shine in their specials and their more adventurous and authentic dishes. So, we live one block from Mexico Authentico. We have eaten in person once and ordered from here a few times. The service is friendly, but the food is just ok. At the moment, we are waiting on an order that we placed via Seamless about and hour and a half ago. After calling just now to ask what's going on, we were told the kitchen has been slammed. We asked if we could have an extra order of guacamole for the delay and were offered chips and salsa. It's a bummer, but I think this will be the last time we try Authentico. read more
