I had seen Taco Star on a few occasions driving thru Northglenn but have not visited the place until I had a run order for UberEats. I drove thru and told them my order, was put on hold and didn't get anyone until a minute later. When I got to the window, the order was still not ready. I told the girl at the window the name and order number and she yelled out what I said to the cook. She then closed the window without any notification. I waited there for a good 3 to 4 minutes until she opened the window again. No apologies from her about the order and for slamming the window on me. And they are getting $12/hour for doing this? I can admit the food is good, Customer service is really poor. I recently moved from Texas and thought I found a good burrito taco place to stop in the morning before I head to work. I order the same thing the last 2 days and the price differs anywhere between a dollar to 2.00. Understand things are changing in price fluctuation for businesses but when I asked the guy what was the difference he Then proceeded to cuss me out in Spanish as if I do not understand. I like a place where I can look at it an know what I'm getting. Green and red sauce with every purchase, the green goes good with just about anything and red offers a fair kick. I am a fan of the number 2 combination, 2 beef tacos and the Colorado Burrito. It can be slow but their not the same as other fast food and if there is a line it won't take as long as you'd think. Update September 7th 2017: As of late the speed has increased so you won't be in line so long. Flip side, each time I get the beef tocos. To date, this is the best Cali style mex place I've tried in CO. The chicken is nicely seasoned, the carnitas tender and nicely flavored, as was the adobada. I stereotype cali mex as using the "more is not enough" attitude and this place delivers that with sabor! Tacos have enough meat and veggies in them for two regular street tacos and they are served on doubled 6" tortillas as opposed to the normal 4". Open 24 hours is a definite plus but the lack of seating ala Good Times as carol a. mentioned is a minus. The other minor sniggles I have are the bland salsas and the from a package torts. Now, I apologize in advance to my lovely Colorado neighbors, but by and large, you do not know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. It is like the state is void of (almost) anything of quality when it comes to representing our friendly country south of the border. I understand that you have been raised on the food here and for some reason need to put green chili on everything... but this is what fast food Mexican is SUPPOSED to taste like. Chicken burritos are SUPPOSED to come in red sauce (note: they have 2 chicken burritos here - one for the Coloradoan with beans, lettuce, cheese, and other stuff and then one for the rest of us - in red sauce and spicy and awesome). Enchilada sauce is supposed to be red. Nachos are supposed to have something more than chips and cheese (notice one of the previous posters placed a one star and asked for chips and cheese VS. nachos - no offense - but as an example). Like a previous poster I actually avoided this place and tried other local hole in the wall looking places when we moved here and kept on being disappointed, before actually trying here. They were open after 11 (hooray for being 24 hours) and despite the outside looking like a chain I tried it and to my amazement it was the closest thing I have had to good drive through Mexican in 3 yrs. The service is alright - but come on, it's not a 5 star restaurant... they speak English, cook the food well, and are speedy enough considering they make food to order. The price is a little more than Taco Bell or Del Taco but the food is better so it's worth it. This place just opened up here a few months ago, I didn't know what to think (due to the fact it looks too much like a fast food chain) but the food isn't. I've had the Carne Asada burritos, Chicken Enchiladas, Shredded Beef Tacos (the Best!!) I've even tried the breakfast burritos they are Grrreeat!!! The place does look like a chain, but don't let that scare you away, the food is Legit! Just good enough. I am from Southern Arizona where Taco stands like this are everywhere and 24 hours. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant, it is a fast food Mexican Restaurant. Their best item are their Tacos. Everything else is A-ok. Their guacamole looks like green sour cream and tastes just as bland. their Red hot sauce could be hotter. Where they really suck is their Carne Asada meat. It is not flash seared and then cooked like the ones I know in AZ, i wouldn't doubt it if they microwaved this meat because it is HORRIBLE. I got a beef taco, a fish taco, and rice and beans. The beef taco was bland and greasy. The fish taco was alright. The rice and beans were super bland. This place is a good alternative for drive thru Mexican fast food. They are open 24 hours and have better food than Taco Bell or Chubby's which are also close by. I always stop here to get the chili relleno burrito which is rather large and costs around $5. Late night (early AM) coming home from a concert and this was one of the only places open. Though this wasn't my first choice, sometimes you can stumble upon a gem. I had the rolled tacos... I even got an extra one! Fried to perfection, these were topped with guac and cheese. I'm a sucker for the tomatillo salsa, so getting an extra side without asking scored some point in my book. Discovered this little place the other night at around 3AM when I was about to go to nasty Taco Bell for some dollar menu junk. They have a 24-hr drive through and the food is excellent. Between 7 co-workers we have not found an item on their menu that has been disappointing. I can personally highly recommend the Grilled Chicken Breast Folded Tacos, Carne Asada Folded Tacos, and the Carne Asada Fries. My co-workers have tried and really liked the 2 Chicken Tacos meal (hard shell), the Chicken Burritos, and the 2 Chile Rellenos meal. This is legit Mexican food and beats Chubby's which is right across the street by far. The pricing is not too terrible but may seem expensive before you actually see the items. $2.30 for a street style soft taco seemed expensive to me but when I got it I was pleasently surprised with how filled they were. The Taco Star on 84th is hit or miss. I have been here a couple times and have gotten many items. Its what to be expected of Mexican fast food. When its not busy they care about the customers and put time into your meal to make it the best. When it is busy though they rush through and try to get the order out without consideration of the customer for the most part. The people were a lot friendlier and there was a salsa bar with pickled carrots. This location the food didn't taste as good and the girl taking the orders seemed annoyed with being there. Probably one of the better Mexican fast food joints that has the best carne asada fries around. The plate is loaded with fries and tons of meat. Well worth the ~$8. Beans are salty and are pretty good refried. Carnitas are seasoned just right, not too greasy bc they're stove cooked, but they're still better than most restaurants version.
