My go to spot for healthier Mexican fast food in the LES area. The food is always cooked to order and their prices are very reasonable. The portion sizes are solid. Place is clean and owners are friendly. Food is ready within 5-10 minutes.

All the other reviewers that gave a 5 star clearly has not had real mexican food. It is a solid 3 or 3.5 at most. This place tastes like burrito house in TriBeca. The food wasn't bad, it just didn't hit home. Also I kept questioning the authenticity of the place as it sells Mexican food but it is run by Chinese people, even the cook was Chinese. The steak combination platter could do with a bit more steak but at 7$, they have to make a profit as well. The green sauce they gave me had no taste nor did the salsa. Super bland is super boring. The salsa or whatever that red sauce they gave me contained zero flavor, they need to kick it up a notch. The dressing on the salad was sweet. Who has sweet salads with steak, beans and rice? Not me. Their vegetables were fresh though, so definitely keep that going. The beans were not overcooked nor were they undercooked so that pleased me. I would possibly return as they have great prices. Definitely going to try the guac next time as it is a deal breaker for me whether or not to return to a restaraunt.

My go to Mexican food on the LES. They always served fresh delicious Mexican food. The price is not expensive and you get a huge serving. The staff are friendly and always with a smile.

#I came here and bought a taco because I had to pee really bad. But it turned out there was no public restroom. So I went #next door to the bar and bought a drink so I could pee. Then I didn't really care if I went back to get the taco I already bought. It was maybe 15 minutes later. But I did anyway, because it seemed rude if I didn't. The #taco was fine.

One of my favorite Tex mex places. Yes, is not legit Tex mex, but closest thing possible in this neighborhood. Flavors are distinct, not greasy and oily like most places. Price for the combination platters are incredibly worth it --- $7 for a steak over rice. Comes with 2 tortillas, lettuce tomatoes steak rice beans and jalapeños. All the platters come with sour cream, salsa and hot sauce on the side. Have had it there and to go, never failed me.

Good place to go for $3-4 tacos. I enjoyed my grilled shrimp taco (I had it on the hard shell because I prefer the crunch). It's clean, neat, and there are about 7 different hot sauces on the table to try. It's a good addition to the neighborhood. (Also, it's CASH ONLY),

Chicken tostada salad bowl. Dressing was very good.

Came here for lunch today. Ordered the Chicken tostada salad bowl... It was very good. Enjoyed the sweet lime/cilantro dressing. It was unique in flavor. Haven't had anything like it ever, complimented the salad very well. I'm from LA, so I've had authentic Mexican food plenty of time. I wouldn't consider Taco Recipes a super authentic place but the food here is damn tasty. Will be returning to try other items on the menu. :)

This seems to be an Asian restaurant masquerading as Mexican. Extremely poor quality.

A quick internet search led me to this tiny little takeaway window. There were a few people waiting around for their orders, but the service was quick, and super friendly. The birria was amazing, super tender, perfect seasoning and came with two sauces for dipping. Unbelievably flavourful, and an impressive serving size. Great value for the money. Truly authentic Mexican street food. I'll be back.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

I had this place bookmarked for a while. Finally came for my birthday dinner. It was a rainy…read moreevening and I was hoping there'd be umbrella sleeves offered. I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.

Decent size Mexican restaurant with some seating in the front and a handful of tables in the back dining room. We started with chips and guac. The guac is large so I understand the price. It was very good. No complaints. The chips could have used more salt though which is always a concern. You'd think Mexican spots would have a tortilla chip down by now. I ordered a steak quesadilla. The steak was tender and had pretty good flavor. I just wish there was more. Especially considering the price. Certainly not a bad quesadilla but the value wasn't quite there. Still, a fine option if you want Mexican food and you are in the area. I'd say the 3.5 rating is pretty spot on.
