I've seen this place a million times when going to concerts in the area, but never made time to go. I'm glad I finally made it here! Taco More is a pretty big restaurant with plenty of tables and wait staff. Our server was very polite and attentive during our meal. We got 4 tacos: 2 barbacoa, 1 carnitas, and 1 quesabirria. All of the tacos were delicious, but my favorite was the quesabirria which was crazy flavorful with tender goat meat. We also split the goat soup. I won't come back without getting the goat soup, that's for sure. The meat was really tender and didn't taste gamey at all. The spice level was perfect as well. Uggggg, looked sooooo good, then they were just average when I munched into them. Taco More is on East Riverside. Absolutely packed with locals, which is a god sign (I'll come back and try some non taco meals). Got a bacon and egg, chorizo and egg, and a marinated pork taco, all on flour tortillas. And that's the problem. Tortillas are a bit too thick and not crisped up enough. Bacon wasn't cooked enough either. As usual, chorizo was the best choice. Pork was fine. A bit dry. Just three stars out of five for me, but this many locals eating here means I'm going to give it another try. read more

I was really craving menudo but didn't know a place in Austin since I am from Dallas. So many people online recommend this restaurant and the pictures looked good to me. I went there on a Sunday and ordered to go and will say they gave it to me in less than 10 minutes despite being crowded. When I got back home I realized that they didn't include hominy so had to run to HEB and buy some. After doing all that I was excited to enjoy my menudo but after a couple bites I couldn't eat any more. It tasted just like straight up black pepper and I even noticed a ton of black pepper all over when I was pouring it out of the container to warm on the stove. I came for a solo lunch after a recommendation from a friend, I HAD to try the sopa de mariscos. I went around a lunch (peak) time and received stellar service! They serve a warm green salsa with chips to start, and I was pleasantly surprised by the robust flavor of the salsa sauce! The temperature was different, but not in a bad way at all. The only other thing that I took notice of was that the space could've been tidier - that's something I definitely pay attention to when I go out to eat. It could've been because of the rush, or it could've been how things usually are there; I couldn't tell as it was my first time there. I ordered an agua fresca, limonada flavor and it was perfectly balanced and refreshing! The soup was the absolute bomb and it came with my choice of tortillas on the side, or bread. I opted for the bread and it ended up being a torta roll; the only thing that would've made it better is if the bread was buttered and toasted. I dipped the bread in the broth - yum! The sopa came out piping hot, not lacking any seafood whatsoever, it had a little kick to it but nothing overwhelming. The flavor was so on point that I drank all the broth! The one thing I didn't really care for was the "krab" component of the dish. It was definitely imitation meat, and it tasted too artificial for my liking. I tried a couple of bite sized pieces before I just decided to remove the rest so I could enjoy the remainder of the bowl. I enjoyed my experience overall and will definitely be back! read more

I wish I could give this restaurant zero stars. We have a weekly Margarita Monday and try different Mexican restaurants and this week someone suggested we try this one. The food was dripping in grease and I don't think much of what was served was fresh food except for the lettuce and avocado. I think most of the food was frozen and I'm positive that the shrimp were frozen because they tasted so bad. No one in the restaurant but we waited and waited to order. When I left, they just gave me a total with no itemization so I have no idea what I was paying for but wanted to get out of there so badly, I didn't bring it up. How can you give someone a bill with just a total? Ripoff for sure. Came here with some friends after a day at the park, I was really hungry so honestly anything would have tasted good. We got takeout and ate it in the parking lot because we had a dog so we could not eat inside. I was pretty unimpressed. I got the potato and egg breakfast taco and the egg and cactus breakfast taco. Both were pretty lackluster in flavor even after pouring sauce on them. The salsa was a warm salsa which I usually don't care for but this salsa had a really good flavor and I actually liked it.. We tried the beef fajita nachos as an appetizer and they were tasty. The meat was cut into small pieces which was perfect for the nachos. They also had refried beans, cheese and pico. An upscale nachos and they were tasty. We had the chicken carnitas tacos and the beef fajita tacos. Basic tacos - meat, onions, cilantro and either corn or flour tortillas - but they were tasty. I didn't care for the 'red' sauce that came with them but the green sauce had a great flavor. The meats had great flavor and were moist and tender. lol My mom wanted Mexican so we delivered. We chose taco more for her because I have eaten here before and know they have good food to offer. My mom is a tough person to please when it comes to food, so when she ordered the fried fish I was hoping they were on their A game that day lol. She finished her plate which came with rice and beans; she loved every part of it. The fish was a good size and fried perfectly, she liked the rice and beans as well. I had the flauta plate & enjoyed them very much but the beans it came with I wasn't too crazy about. The rice was good. My husband had the carne asada plate, he liked the meat and the rice was ok but could have gone without the beans. We prefer black beans over any of the others, so we hold it at a higher standard lol. They have plenty of seating, parking & a menu selection. I was looking for some good hole in the wall tacos, and this place was that. From the outside it didn't look like anything special but the food was phenomenal! I got three tacos; steak, Al pastor, carnitas, all three very good. My favorite was the steak taco I would eat 100 of them if I could. They had three salsas for the tacos a verde which I loved, a red sauce that was very spicy and flavorful, and a Serrano sauce that was crisp and spicy. I also got horchata which was yummy and came with free refills! This is definitely a place that I would return to in a heart beat. Highly recommend!! read more

Menudo ($9) is a Mexican soup with cow's stomach. It was super flavorful broth and had good portions of protein. It also came with a choice of tortilla or tostado. Cactus/egg breakfast taco ($2) was a decent sized taco a bit on the bland side. Beef steak quesadilla ($5) was also a good sized quesadilla but wasn't super flavorful. Tres leche cake ($4) was so bomb. It is one of the best tres leche cakes that I have ever eaten. It was a chocolate with condensed milk and strawberry filling in between the two layers. To me the truest compliment someone can give about a dining experience is that of feeling at home. This is what Taco More cultivated for my husband, who's a Corpus transplant. Given this was my first experience at this restaurant I opted for a familiar dish, the beef fajita plate. I loved how small the beef was chopped, in a street taco style fashion, making it very easy to eat. The beans had weenies in them, which I'm told makes them legit. They were really well done and flavorful. They had 3 salsas from what I saw and the one that had peanuts in it had my husband sweating. The showstopper for me was the rice, it was perfect! I love Spanish rice and they nailed it. The waitress was very friendly and spoke predominantly Spanish, which was fine because I speak enough and my husband has been working on his as well. They will bring you chips and salsa... They salsa is amazing! It may set your mouth on fire... But its amazing! I ordered the chicken Flautas. They were bigger than any I have had any where else. They seriously took up the length of the plate. They were covered in lettuce and queso blanco with rice and refried beans on the side. It was so good, I honestly ate too much. They have a fantastic salsa bar. I highly recommend the green one with pieces of avacoado. Great flavor and will help cool off your melting taste buds from the first salsa. Service was good. We had fajitas, goat, al pastor tacos with cilantro and onions. We tried goat soup with flour tortillas and floutas. The flouta plate comes with a massive amount of rice and beans so be ready. The tacos were great. They have a salsa bar with 5 different types of salsas, so you can explore and a ton of limes. The goat soup was surprisingly really good and you can make impromptu goat soup tacos by filling in a flour tortilla with the goat soup. The tres leches was really underrated which was disappointing. The cake was not moist, but looked like the syrup was just poured into the bottom, so I would advise against it for dessert. read more
