    Green enchiladas

Great little local Mexican food where you can reach just a few minutes away from the Austin airport. Came just after arriving to Austin to get a meal and a few beers. The restaurant was chill as had great air conditioning with most of the patrons being local blue collar workers, definitely not a Austin hipster place. The staff were friendly and they have a large menu. My wife had the chicken mole and I had some green chili enchiladas where we drank a few Victoria Beer's that were crispy cold.

I come here for the Fillet a la Plancha. Best grilled fish in Austin. Love this place!

Loved the vibe, the service, and the food! Non-pretentious Tex-Mex and homemade corn tortillas.

After a long wait I finally tried El Secreto De Abuela. I drive by this place all the time on my drive to and from the airport. Had a nice lazy Sunday today so popped in. Got the enchiladas de mole for $12.99 and it was a pretty nice sized portion. Didn't 100% blow me away, but I did ignore the waitress's suggestion of her favorite dish. Was still plenty good, and service was super quick. I'll go back and try more of their menu at some point for sure.

I'm so glad I finally stopped at this place, which I've been looking at as I drive past for years. I hesitated because it's a bit dive-y looking, and I wondered if it would be friendly to non-Spanish speakers. This morning, hunger, and the sign advertising cheap breakfast tacos finally convinced me to check it out, and it's a gem. Inside is clean and comfortable. I had a cup of decent coffee and the three breakfast tacos for six bucks. And the corn tortillas, perhaps made in-house?, are larger than I'm used to, and delicious. The egg and bacon were both just right and perfectly cooked, with good salsa alongside. The service was quick, friendly, and easily bilingual. And the rest of the menu looked very tempting. I'll be back.

The BEST hole in a wall for home cooked Mexican food, especially when craving your favorite dishes you grew up with back home.

Food, service & overall vibe was below average. Had high hopes for this hole in the wall. Lots of hype. Not enough quality to back it up.

I had previously tried to go to the Burnet Road location but they were PACKED on a Saturday night with a 90 minute wait but this time I called ahead to the the Parmer Lane location around 5:30 pm and put my name in. I arrived around 5:45 pm and was seated within 10 minutes. NOTES: - Reservations: no but you can call ahead to put your name in - Parking: free lot in front of the building - Online ordering: available on their website through ToastTab for pickup for delivery - Happy hour: weekdays from 3:00 to 6:00 pm with half off some food items, $7 Mamaritas and La Playas, and $1 off cocktails, liquor, beer, and wine - Brunch: served Sat & Sun from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm THE HIGHS: - Server was friendly and gave recommendations - Complimentary chips and salsa (refilled throughout the meal) - Food came out quickly after ordering THE LOWS: - Busy around dinner time and kind of loud (great for celebrations but hard to hear each other at the table) - A little dark on the inside THE PRICE: Reasonable for the portion size and quality of food - Small queso compuesto ($9.99) - Barbacoa quesadilla ($16.99) - Barbacoa tacos ($16.99) - Pechuga Barbie ($19.99) - Side of abuelita rice ($2.99) - Sopapillas Aaliyah ($7.99) BEST BITES: - Barbacoa: delicious in both the quesadilla and tacos... super tender and flavorful - Queso compuesto: the meat, homemade quad, and pico are all fresh and add great texture to the melted cheese... perfect appetizer to split with a group THE VERDICT: I'd definitely return to Mama Betty's and recommend it to others! The Tex-Mex dishes felt slightly elevated compared to some other places and I love that they are locally owned and operated. They can be busy but it's worth waiting if you plan ahead and have the time!

Both incredible and not too hot. I had the sirloin tampiqueño. I have never tasted steak so flavorful in my lifetime. Addictive and so tender and beautifully seasoned I couldn't even speak except for the mmmmm's... don't let the thin slice fool you. It was incredible!!! We also got the Friday night special Saudero taco on the HOMEMADE buttery delicious flour tortilla. Again the steak pieces in there were fantastic. The regular picadillo crispy taco was probably the best I've ever had. Homemade deep fried thick shells. Margaritas were expensive and small, but done RIGHT. Sam made them by hand not from a mix. It's a good balance because the food is FAIRLY PRICED!!! I am completely spoiled now and probably will just come here from now on. Next it's time to taste those great looking enchiladas!!!

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk).
